So, I went to see Cloverfield recently with a couple friends and it was pretty cool, I have to say. It very interesting, but I was really surprised that they managed to keep the storyline focused and progressing even while using a filming style designed to be similar to a home video. The ending, while expected, still made me feel sad to see it happen that way, but I guess it had to, since the tape was recovered in the park and the people weren't mentioned.
I'm still not entirely sure I get why they named the occurance "cloverfield" since it took place in New York, and I have to admit that I really want to know where the monster came from and why it decided to trash new york. But . . . you don't get to know that. But then, the characters never knew where it came from, so we had no way to know. Oh well.
