The sun shone warmly on the lion cub's oddly marked fur, causing her to wriggle in delight. The sky was startlingly clear, the sun was out and high overhead and Mrengo'angaa was itching for some fun. The little cub knew she had to be careful, that there were things that would hurt her (though why they'd EVER want to hurt such a pretty beast as herself was a mystery), but right now, potential dangers didn't matter. All that mattered was finding someone willing to give her soem attention.

Odin had finally managed to leave the jungle again, parting ways with that other leopard. He was pleased to finally be making his way to the southern savannahs, where there might be a certain someone he could run into. It was a slim possibility, yes, but that didn't mean that luck might not be on his side for it, either.
He paused, though, as he saw something little and black wiggling a bit. A flashback to his last meeting with a foolish little cub, and he sure hoped that whatever it was, it wouldn't come and find him. Hopefully it wouldn't have the same tongue as that Akasha. Surely parents were teaching there kids manners now a days, right?

Spying a little flying insect above her, Mrengo leapt for it, giggling madly. As she leapt, she was certain she saw a pretty white and blue creature just ahead. The buggie could wait! Smiling ecstatically, the little cub raced towards the creature she'd seen. Surely they'd be willing to play! Besides, she was so pretty and nice that no one could ever hate her, right?
"Waaiiitttttt!" she shrilled. "I wanna plaayyyyyy!"
And a little more running, she stopped a few feet away laughing breathlessly. Putting as much sweetness and charm into her smile as she could, she looked at the other animal with admiring eyes. Why, he was almost as pretty as she was!
"You're nice looking! Will you play with me?"

The white loepard couldn't help but wince when he heard some shirll sound coming from the creature. What the heck? Was it terrified of something? He didn't have any heroic tendancies for something that screamed like that, though, and all he wanted to do was bolt.
It was too late, though, as he saw the blue and black creature thing run right up to him. He lifted his forepaw, almost as if he felt that she ws going to run into it. Oh, great. It was a lion cub. After that one pistol of a girl, he was a little more wary of lions, especially young ones.
"Uh, hi." He said. What about saying hello? At least...she complimented him? Gods, he had no idea how to go about playing with an energetic fluffball. "Play?" he said slowly, lowering his head to peer at her strange eye markings. It was like her eyes almost decided to hide themselves.

Mrengo gave a firm nod. Poor grown up. He'd obviously forgotten how to play. It was up to her to teach him! Still smiling, she remembered her manners and bobbed her head a bit.
"Hello!" she said brightly. "'m Mrengo'angaa. May I please inquire as to your name, good sir?"
There. That was polite enough, wasn't it? Auntie had been VERY determined that Ren should always be polite.
"You know," she continued in a cheerful, coaxing voice, "play! Like.. tag and hide and seek and stuff."

Odin took a moment to stare at the little cub, letting his mind slowly abosrb what she said. Or just to get over the shock. Play? He thought he was above playing, but the fear that a shrill cry might come out of her (and not a happy one), he decided that he could at least give it a try, for now.
"I'm Odin," he replied, offering a nod. His head was still lowered, his shoulder blades protruding a bit from his back. Not the most comfortable position, but it worked. "Hello, then, Mrengo'angaa." Ugh, long name. Another new fad? He was always pleased with his short, but strong name.
"Do you have a nickname?" He almost added on 'little one,' but decided against it. If she was trying to be a polite cub, she might not like the little tag that reminded her of her size or age.

Wriggling slightly, thrilled that this Odin would play, Mrengo tilted her head and she considered his question. And then, she carefully looked all around, wanting to make certain that Auntie wasn't about to pop out of the grass and catch her.
Lowering her voice to a near whisper, she edged closer, "Ev'ryone else calls me Ren, but Auntie doesn't like it when they do. She says it's not ladylike and then she tries to bite my nose. But I think she should be biting their noses if she doesn't like it."
Now she looked faintly worried as she stared up at Odin.
"Please don't tell Auntie I told you?"

Odin couldn't help but crack a grin at the cub. Well, at least this proved that she wasn't completely attitude to him. He let his tail swish behind him one through the grasses, letting his head raise up a bit.
"Alright then, Ren. I'll be sure to remember that." He chuckled, before letting his voice lower to a whipser. "One problem though. I'm not certain what your Auntie looks like."
He took a special moment to lower himself onto the ground, letting some of the grasses tickle his sides. He peered through the grasses in different directions, slowly, quietly, like a sentry. As if he was on the lookout for this 'Auntie' of Ren's.

Giggling happily at the direction this game was taking, Mrengo crouched down as well and sidled even closer.
"Auntie is a blue doggie, Mr Odin. She's very strict," Mrengo nodded and continued to explain. "Auntie takes care of me because Momma and Poppa went away and she doesn't know when they'll be back. Auntie say I'm full of m'schif."
Grinning trustingly up at Odin, Mrengo flickered her tail a little, admiring his shiny fur stripes even more. Her fur was pretty, yes. But it wasn't as shiny and nice as Odin's. Mrengo was certain that he never got teased as a cub for having funny fur.

"Oh?" he feigned mild shock. "A blue dog? Well, so many lovely blue creatures around then, right?" Interesting that it was a 'dog', he could only guess a wild dog. A pity, really, but at least the cub wasn't left alone to die. The world wasn't kind in his eyes, unless you took it with a grain of salt. He smirked again, letting his eyes dart around the grasses, pretending to see if they could see this Auntie of hers. He would dart his eyes around, pretending to see if he had caught a glimpse, only to sigh when it was just a bird.
But really, were cubs entertained this easily? He wouldn't see it, nor would ever admit it, but he was enjoying himself, acting as if they were hiding from this strict Auntie of Ren's.
"Well, you may just be full of mischif because you're still a cub." Saying that, it sort of went against his own ideals of raising cubs, but since he'd never had any himself (god forbid, really), he never knew what he would actually do himself.
"Though Auntie is strict, so you still love her, though?" Hopefully she was happy with her Aunt, even if she was a bit strict. But raising one as a lady could be tough, he could see that standpoint as well.

Mrengo frowned slightly, thinkign hard. She didn't always like all of Auntie's rules, or always having to act like a lady and sometimes those bites on the nose hurt! Still, Auntie was always quick to cuddle her if she was sad or missed Momma and Poppa. And Auntie always made sure that she got enough to eat.
Nodding slowly, Mrengo replied, "Yes, I think so. Not like Momma or Poppa, but I'd be awfully sad if Auntie went away without me."
Wrinkling her nose slightly, the butterfly marked cub stretched out lazily.
"When I stop being full of m'schif, does that mean I'll be all grown up and stop having fun? M'schif's awfully fun sometimes."

Odin settled a bit more. Well, at least she was comfortable enough with her Aunt to enjoy living with her. He could understand that it wasn't the same as her direct parents (he had been young once, with parents, just like everyone else), but at least she had somone to lean on, and take care of her.
He raised his head in a bit of a way of studying her. "Whoever said that?" he mused, smirking slightly. "You can always be full of mischief and trouble as you want. Just perhaps your idea of what exactly is mischief might change. Instead of sneaking around and pouncing on things, it might be more fun to use words to confuse others. Or, as you seem to already have an idea of, flattery can get you anything you desire, as long as you do it properly."
He really shouldn't be planting any sort of ideas in her little mind though. Bad Odin!

Now Mrengo was just plainly confused. These were ideas that she'd never heard of before! And somehow, she had a feeling that Auntie wouldn't approve of them if she knew. So.... she wouldn't find out! Simple.
"What's flattery?" she asked, stumbling a little on the unfamiliar word. "An' how do you use words like that? To make m'schif I mean. I don't understand."
Odin seemed very smart and he was certainly nice to her. Surely he wouldn't leave her confused for very long.

Oh boy. How was he to describe all of this? He thought for a moment, picking at the ground as he rolled it around in his mind for a bit. Simplifying it would be a bit difficult.
"Well, do you remember when you first said that I was good looking?" He couldn't help but crack another grin, remember it as it shocked him for a moment. "That's flattery. Like, if I say 'You're coat is so shimmery, more beautiful than any butterfly I've seen', that's flattery towards you." Hopefully that would be a nice, simple way to describe that part.
"Sometimes if you flatter the right person, they can help you get what you want. Like, I like flattery, because I like getting it back." A good ego stroke was never beyond his mind. "But say, you want someone to try and catch you a meal for you? And your Auntie isn't around to get one for you."
....oh, he hoped he was explaining it correctly.

Mrengo found herself smiling hugely at the compliment. Then, she narrowed her eyes as she listened very carefully to this lesson.
"So... if I told someone that they were a really good hunter and very strong, they might share?"
Oh, this was an odd lesson, but it made dim sense to the little cub. People liked to be complimented. She was certainly proof of that!
