Tsukiko flicked her tail, staring into the water with her head tilted. Perhaps not as much to the water as to her own reflection. Again she was thinking about her eyes; they did look blind. Or almost blind-- kind of ghostly, really. "I wonder if thats bad, " The triplet tapped her chin, before lowering a paw into the water and swishing it around. It was late afternoon, so she should be heading home soon-- mom and dad wouldn't enjoy her off when it was too dark.
"naah, prolly not! Nothin's wrong with funny eyes! " It might be sad that she was talking to herself right nowm, or that she even seemed to care about her eye color so much. Really, she didn't--! She just thought about random things when she was bored. Maybe she should swim a bit before going home-- the pridelands main watering hole was safe from crocodiles, lions could simply enjoy it. And it was right near pride rock, too.
"I wonder if anyone's around, " She said suddenly, deciding against swimming so late. Then she'd just get carried away and not get home in time!

The white cub made her way through the savanah grass, golden tail flicking behind her, ears lowered against her head. She had balked at the suggestion she go find her sister, but a look from her father had convinced her otherwise. It wasn't that she disliked her siblings, but the triplets made her feel left out, alone, as different from them as their dark pelts were from her white.
She didn't understand why it was her who had been sent after Tsukiko, wouldn't one of the other triplets have been the better choice? Perhaps it was her parents' thought that it would boost her confidence, to break through that shyness. Well at least it was Tsukiko and not Hoshiko. Tsukiko she could handle, she was at least nice when it was just her, or at least she didn't try to boss her around.
"Tsukiko! Where are you? Dad says it's time to come home."
As the afternoon grew late, evening drew near, the time when their father would leave the den for his nightly patrol. And as any father would, he liked to spend time with his children before leaving for the night, content that they were safe at home while he patrolled the borders of the pridelands.

A dark ear flicked backwards. Not Hoshiko... not Youko either. Alasiri..? No, no. It was Meiyo. That was odd. Mom and dad did sometimes send someone to go find whever wasn't home yet; she'd been stuck looking for Hoshiko before, only to return to give the news that she hadn't found her sibling-- and she ended out to have arrived!
"Over here! " Tsukiko called, turning to look towards the grasses. That was the thing with savanna grass; it was often so tall. There were patches, of course, but near water it wasn't to unusual for it to grow a bit more. At least, for a juvenile lioness it was tall enough to get in the way of eyesight. Not to mention, it was full of bushes on this side-- the other side didn''t have nearly as much plants and shrubs. She just chose over here because it was quieter.
"Are you in the grass? "

Ears twitched at the familiar voice, pale eyes searching for a glance over the tall grass for her wayward sister. Rearing up on her hind paws, she peeked over the grass, gaze at last settling on the dark hide of Tsukiko. With a deep breath and a soft sigh, she settled on four paws again, walking through the grass toward her sister until she emerged into the foliage into the open near the water's edge.
It was not always so easy for one so small to move through the denser brush, perhaps tumble was a more fitting word. Now clearly visible in the open, she was covered with the grass and seed that had clung to her pelt, one hind leg tangled amid the brush, she stumbled forward as she pulled herself free.
Standing to her paws, she brushed what she could off her pelt, shaking to free herself of what she couldn't reach. Well, that was dignified, she hoped Tsukiko hadn't seen. Would she tell the others, would they all laugh at her? Walking to her sister's side, she settled on her haunches, ears back, hoping she wouldn't be made fun of.
"Tsukiko, it's time to go home. What're you doing?"

She caught the small flash of white as Meiyo peeked over the grass, and opened her mouth to warn her about the ferns. However, she was too late, and had to cover her mouth with a paw to drown out her giggle. Meiyo could be so silly! Meiyo was right, though. Tsukiko was talkative and chatty, so it wasn't unlikely she might let the information slip. But at least the intention wouldn't be to humiliate her sister!
"I was just thinking, " she said, seemingly not noticing her sisters pose after getting free, looking at her for a moment. Meiyo had those blind-looking eyes too! .. Come to think of it, so did mom and Alasiri and grandpa.
"You shouldn't try to get in from there! " Tsukiko said next, with a small grin. "I have my own secret entrance! " It kind-of made sense. It was a tiny 'clearing' amid all the bushes and tumble, and Tsukiko didn't look exactly like she'd gone through getting stuck. Not to mention, it could be a good hideout if she really wanted to hide. Which was.. never. "I was gonna tell you but you already came in, " Though the way she said it made it look like it hadn't really been her intention. That was the problem with Tsukiko, sometimes.

Her ears dropped, a small frown on her maw. She should have known her sister would laugh at her, and soon the others would be laughing as well.
"Well I didn't..."
She paused, words trailing off into silence. Wait, a secret passage? Why couldn't Tsukiko have told her that before? The small cub bet she would have told the triplets, they probably already knew, but she didn't. It always seemed to be that way, the triplets did everything together, shared everything, and Meiyo who was not a triplet was always left out. Mom and Dad has said it was okay to be different, that she was special, she was the only one who had inherited her father's markings after all. But then why didn't she feel special.
"You could have told me that before."
She looked away with a small hmph, imagining that Tsukiko would run off to tell the other triplets all that had happened as soon as they were home.
"Thinking about what?"

"I was gonna! But then you already came in the.. other way. " She paused, clearly because she wasn't sure what word to use. She shrugged, looking at the water again for a moment as a fish flitted by. Then following her ear to look at Meiyo again. "Eyes! My eyes look blind, see? " She said without really hesitating. There was nothing wrong!
"And so do mom's and Alasiri's and yours. " Tsukiko nodded, curling her tail around her paws for a moment. "Hoshiko and Youko's aren't, though. " Hoshiko's were blue and Youko's were green.. they didn't match mom's at all! "And grampa's are too. I wonder if people think we're blind when they see us! " Well, if they looked blind, some might think that was the case! Funny.
"I was really bored. Oh, its over there, " She said, pointing to a couple of bushes surrounding her small 'clearing'. They didn't look like they'd provide and easy way out, though.. Though, looks can be deceiving, you just had to push one or two loose branches out of the way and it was almost like a small tunnel. An adolescent or an adult wouldn't fit through, though they could probably get in pretty easy anyway!

"What's wrong with my eyes?"
She blinked, staring at her sister. Though the little lioness felt subconscious about many things, her eyes had never been one of them. Her white pelt, unshared by any direct family member, was something that made her different, but her eyes were shared by her mother, grandfather, and two sisters, even a triplet had her eyes. She had always liked her eyes and her golden marking, was she wrong to have thought they were special?
"I don't think they look blind, Dad says they look like the moon."
Her voice had dropped to a mutter, one forepaw idly batting at the grass near the water's edge. Looking at her reflection, she focused on the pale eyes that looked back, they didn't look blind to her.

"Nothing! "Tsukiko said quickly, stretching slightly. "Its just I met a bird once and he thought I was blind for a bit. " She shrugged. Silly bird! "It was nice of him offering to help me get home, tho! Even if he only offered cuz he thought I was blind. " She blinked, tilting her head.
"I wonder what its like to be blind... Hey, shouldn't we go home? " Ah, Tsukiko. Master of losing focus. She idly wandered towards the bushes, shoving a couple of branches aside. "Here, you can go first. No funny stuff, honest! " She added that last part, just in case Meiyo might thing she'd just let the branches go as she passed-- it was the sort of this Hoshiko might do.

Tail flicked, watching her sister, thinking over her words as if deciding what she thought of them. It wasn't something she had expected one of the triplets to say, why should they care what a bird thought? And she was certain Hoshiko wouldn't have cared, she was more likely to have swatted the bird to prove her point.
"I think mom and dad are a lot smarter than a bird, and they don't think our eyes look blind."
She nodded, confident in her answer. What did it matter what some dumb ol' bird thought if mom and dad knew they weren't blind? Besides, they got their eyes from Grandpa, she liked Grandpa, he was kind and he had lots of white on his hide too.
Another twitch of her tail, the lioness rose to her paws, yeah, it was time to go home wasn't it. That was the whole reason she had come out here in the first place, to tell Tsukiko it was time to come home, and if they didn't get back soon it would probably be Hoshiko that was sent after them both and then she'd never hear the end of it.
But she wasn't sure she trusted her sister. Was it really an easier path out of the tall grass, was her sister plotting a prank on her the moment she stepped through? She stood a moment, debating the issue in her mind before with a soft sigh and a faint nod, she decided Tsukiko was not like Hoshiko and stepped past the branches and into the grass, leading the way back to the den, silently hoping she hadn't just been tricked again.

"Yea, I guess so. " Tsukiko said, shrugging. She had sort-of expected the hesitation, though, and merely tipped her ears backwards at it. She never quite got why Meiyo was so shy and.. skeptical, maybe? Probably Hoshiko's fault, at which Tsukiko frowned. Not that she didn't love her sister, or even try doing anything to stop her, but Hoshiko could be.. quite the bully, huh?
She let Meiyo pass without doing any 'funny stuff', though, and soon enough squeezed in behind her, walking slightly crouched untill out the tunnel of bushes.
