this question has probley come up before but what happened? in america, theres no real ansures for this question, and most web site that i found really don't tell you waht happened to nataku, and why guku was locked up. does any one have an opion or know what happen?

I think what happens gets revealed in the sequels (Reload, Gunlock, Requiem), or it might come up in the manga.
If you go by the original Journey to the West, Hakkai and Gojyo were thrown out of heaven for screwing up, Goku was locked away simply because he was too dangerous...and he pissed off the Jade Emperor one time too many.
Sanzo, in the original, wasn't from heaven. He was a simple priest, with a not so simple journey. But I would guess Sanzo in the anime defended Hakkai, Gojyo, and Goku, and was banished with the rest of them.
Just a theory, though.

I'm just guessing about the sequels containing info about what happened to the Sanzo party in heaven. But the other stuff I got from the original Journey to the West, which Saiyuki is based off of. The book I read in particular is called "Monkey" by Wu Ch'Eng-En; and translated by Arthur Waley. "Monkey" includes the origins of the original Son Goku, the Monkey King. And it tells about how he came to be so powerful, and what exactly he did to get locked up for 500 years. For all the differences between the anime and the original story, the anime actually does a decent job of retelling the story.

There aren't any sites that tell what happened in Heaven because it hasn't been written yet. Minekura-sensei only wrote one volume of Gaiden, and several chapters which were released in the monthly comic ZeroSum (these chapters were not published in its own manga due to copyright issues).
In the end though... I'd have to say that, whatever happens, it most likely has something to do with Nii. (It's always his fault... *amused*)

me and my friends have only seen the series (disks 1-12) and requiem. So we like making up stupid little stories bout the things we dont know. We came up with one we could believe. Natakus father adn his men killed Sanzo, Hakkia, and Gojyo (past forms) and framed Goku for it. Goku was then locked up and Nataku after witnessing everything went into his current cataonic state. But tat is just a little theory of ours. We had a stupid one once where Goku killed Jade Emporer and the others tried to defend him and were banished from heaven. Goku was locked up and Nataku went into current state. Anotehr was goku played prank on Emperor. Nataku laughed so hard he hit his head (hard) and went into current state. Goku was thrown in moutnain prison and the others were anished from heaven for helping

That theory at the beginning was a good one. That's my guess too. I've only seen REQUIEM, episodes 27-30 and 38-40. Stupid onDemand needs to update....grrr

Arden5 That theory at the beginning was a good one. That's my guess too. I've only seen REQUIEM, episodes 27-30 and 38-40. Stupid onDemand needs to update....grrr they changes the voices in relaod english, but maybe it's gets better as they go. but i have not seen recermum, is it any good?
