You walk down the dirt road into what looks like every other small village you might run into. There is a cozy tavern, and a little quaint marketplace. The crops were bountiful this season, and everyone is being generous and kind to one another. But the happiness may not live so long, for who knows what dastardly warlord or villainous thief may try to take advantage of their small province.

[[This is a rather short post...once I see the average length of everyone elses replies I'll adjust my future posts smile ]]
Xena was walking around the village casually, going from booth to booth, though there was nothing that particularly caut her attentiont. She didn't really need anything, Except a new shoe for Argo... she thought, deciding to walk around until she found it a blacksmith. She hadn't really wanted to stop in the village, but her and Gabrielle had been traveling for a long time and Gabrielle had said something about wanting to stop at a village. Hmm, I wonder where she is she thought, a light smirk coming to her face when she realized that the bard was probably off trying to bargain her way down from some kind of useless item. Ah well, she does seem to have a knack for talking she thought, heading in the direction where she knew the blacksmith must be.

(The same goes for me too, Eveosin.)
"Look Mister whateveryourname is, I don't have all day. Either you lower your price or I go some place else. It's really simple." Noting the amused look on the man's face Gabrielle sighed. "This is getting ridiculous.." "Fine. Only a fool would purchase your items at your prices." She said as she laughed. "And I, sir, am no fool." Gabrielle began to walk away expecting the vendor to call her back and negotiate a better deal with her. Sadly, as she turned her head, she could see the man still smiling at her, no wait, smirking at her. "What the-!!!" Gripping her staff in annoyance/frustration, Gabrielle forced her face away from the man. "Breathe, Gabrielle. Breathe..." She said to herself as she continued to walk away from the stand.
(I'm terrible at grammer and sometimes I make little noticeable mistakes but I promise to do better as the time comes. smile )

"6 dinars, for one shoe?" she demanded the blacksmith with annoyance evident in her voice. That was ridiculous! It was one shoe! The blacksmith was clearly trying to rip her off. She arched a brow and glared coolly at him for a moment, tensing her jaw, "Are you going to rethink that price? Or am I going to have to come over there and make the shoe myself?" she asked, her voice calm. The man seemed panic slightly at that, "Okay okay - 3 dinars...and that includes putting it on the horse..." he said, offering her a nervous smile. Xena thought about it for a moment then nodded, handing him the three dinars, "I'll be back in little while with my horse," she said to him, and he gave her a nod, thankful, it seemed, for having avoided an argument.
Xena couldn't help but grin to herself, Well then, seems like I'm more like Gabrielle than I thought she thought to herself. Although...she did have a bit different bargaining approach. It seemed of she just put on a threatening face, people lowered prices. She wondered if that was just for her? Or everyone. When she finally saw Gabrielle, it seemed the blond was in a huff of some sort. She couldn't help but smirk, "Talking not working very well today?" she teased, the two walking towards one of the inns so they could get a drink while they waited for Argo's shoe to be done.

"Funny." She thought sarcastically. "Heh. We'll see later on. I think I'm becomming a little rusty on my bargaining skills. I think I just need to get back in the habit." Gabrielle said to Xena while convincing herself that her decreasing ability was only a minor setback that would soon be solved. "Don't let it get to you."
Suddenly, feeling that uncomfortable feeling in her stomach, Gabrielle looked up at Xena. "By the gods, I'm starving! How many dinars do we have left?"

"I'm sure you'll get it back, don't worry," Xena said with a light shake of her head, knowing for a fact that Gabrielle would be soon getting back her 'talent' if one were to call it that. At the question, she thought for a moment, pulling out the small pouch where they usually kept their dinars. She counted through them and shrugged, "We have 4 dinars left..." she said, shrugging her shoulders, "Should be enough for a good meal..." she said casually, though they'd need to get some more dinars after that. Even though they traveled a lot, when they eventually did get to villages, it was good to have at least some dinars with them.

"I guess I could see if they need a Bard at the inn. Might be good to earn an extra dinar or two." Gabrielle said. For the past week she'd been thinking of a story about a king who was tricked into wearing an invisible robe. "It's gotta be worth something." she thought. "Besides, maybe I can convince Xena to let us sleep in the inn tonight."
(Sorry, this is all I can do in 2 minutes. Class time! smile )

[[Lol is it just going to be us the whole time? Or do we have any villains or something yet to come in so we can get some action biggrin ]]
"Yeah, that could be worth something," she said with nod. She knew her friend was a very good bard. In fact, she remembered one time Gabrielle had been wanting to go to school for the Athens Academy. It would be a lie to say that Xena hadn't been a little upset, for it meant she wouldn't get to be with Gabrielle for what...four years? But she'd been happy for her, because she knew Gabrielle had a talent. She shook her head That's all in the past, she's here now she thought to herself as the two walked into the inn. They got the usual curious looks, for it wasn't every day one 6 foot tall warrior woman dressed in leathers and armor walked into a small inn. "You go see if they could use some bard talents, I'll get us some food," she said, ignoring the stares she received as she walked over to where she would need to order the food.

"Okay." Gabrielle walked over to the man who seemed to run the place and mentioned that she could tell some stories to his customers for a small fee. She didn't charge much since most of the money she made were small tips given by the customers.
Gabrielle knew that most of the inn keepers wanted some form of entertainment to draw in people so she wasn't surprised for him to accept as soon as she asked. As soon as she got the Okay, Gabrielle headed on back towards Xena.

Xena ordered two rounds of the special at the inn for that day, not really feeling up to choosing between things. It'd been a long day and to be honest, she was looking forward to sleeping. Maybe we'll stay at the inn tonight...I'm sure Gabrielle's going to try and talk me into it anyway she thought with a grin, leaning against the counter and watching as the bard began to get a crowed surrounding her, the tall warrior woman shaking her head with a grin when she realized Gabrielle was telling another tale of one of their adventures, making Xena out to be a great hero again. "Thanks," she mumbled, putting down the dinars before taking the two plates and heading over to a table, leaning back in her chair and listening to the story, deciding she'd wait to eat until the blond was with her.

"...And just like that, the sun melted into the sky and Xena, the ledgendary princess and her partner in justice, continued down the road for more adventures to come."
Gabrielle smiled when she finished telling the tale as the occuring memories of that adventure were still fresh in her head. "I'll have to remember to tell this one more often." She thought as her audience started to surround her to talk to the bard. Gabrielle was about to engage into conversation until her thoughts turned to her stomach. "Okay. Time to find Xena."
Trying to look over the heads of the crowd, she made her way towards the back in search of her best friend and in hopes that there was food to be found beside her.

[[NOw would be a good time for some thugs to jump in smile lol. hey Kono if worst comes to worst, we can just RP as the bad guys ]]
"If it isn't the battling bard of Potedia," grinned Xena as Gabrielle returned to sit down opposite her, Xena easily pushing her plate of food over. Luckily it was still warm, and the two began eating peacefully, activity in the tavern casual as always. "You know Gabrielle, I can't help but feel like your stories are somewhat...familiar," she said with a grin etched onto her beautiful features. Xena took a swig of ale, glancing around as a circle of men sat in the corner. She arched a brow curiously, gesturing to the table for Gabrielle to look. We'd better keep our eye on them...just in case she thought, for they did look a bit suspicious, and kept glancing over their way.

Glancing over to her right, she looked at the gang of men sitting in the corner. She already could sense Xena's warning to watch out for them but just by the look of their appearance; it wouldn't take a genius to figure that out. One of men stared over at them and Gabrielle quickly looked away. "For once, I hope that the 'not-judging-a-book-from-its-cover' ideal proves to be right." she muttered to herself. She looked up at Xena and put another bite of food into her mouth.
Next thing Gabrielle heard were chairs being slid across the floor which could only mean that the band of guys were now on the move.

"Oh here we go," Xena murmured for her and Gabrielle's ears only. She'd sensed it - for she had a strange sense for these things, and only seconds later, chairs were being flung around signaling that not only was she right, but they were pretty rough and coming after them now.
There were about 12 or so of them - which could be considered very bad to some people...but if anything Xena was just irked that she'd been disrupted from her meal. She was hungry and wanted to eat - she wasn't feeling like fighting a bunch of nameless thugs that particular night. "Alrigh' boys - that thar's Xena...word 'as it that she's gotta damn fine price on 'er head...le's git 'er!" came the voice of the leader, Xena and Gabrielle exchanging brief looks, rolling of eyes of course. This was usually how it went - the two were stopped wihle travelling on back paths or something, by some random gang who wanted to kill Xena and turn in her body for reward money. "I wonder who has the reward out this time," she called to Gabrielle, before letting out her battle cry and flipping through the air to land behind the gang of thugs.
"Hello boys," she said with a grin when they turned and looked confused, and then it all started. She pulled out her sword from it's sheathe on her back, and that's when they all ran at her, as if being snapped out of their daze. "Git 'er now! An' the rest o' ye go and get the little one!" they called out, Xena grinning when she realized that had struck a cord with the bard. Let the brawl begin she thought with a lunge, taking out two men with one follow through punch, hitting another with the hilt of her sword and swinging around to cut one of their legs deep enough for him to fall back but not to kill. No - there was no sense killing these guys.

Gabrielle, like usual, had Xena's back and was spinning her staff like wild. One of the guys managed to grab hold of the top of her staff and in an instant, most likely by reflex, Gabrielle flipped out the other side of her staff and smacked him right in the groin. She then used the open opportunity to wack the head of the oncoming attacker which in turn, knocked him out. Being with Xena over the years helped her understand the method of the staff and knew when to take the advantages and put them to use. While many may believe otherwise, one of her advantages as well as her disadvantages, was her height.
Another one of the attackers managed to back Gabrielle up until she could feel the edge of the table against her back. "Under the table" her mind thought instantly. She ducked under the table and when the guy came into close contact, she slammed her staff against his legs as he started to push the table away.
