Nestled amongst the roots of one of the great oaks is a large den formed from fallen branches interwoven with sticks and leaves. The strong scent of herbs wafts through the air, and cats rush back and forth, welcoming wounded clanmates who have returned from the large search for Windclan, fetching supplies, and running messages to leaders.

To some cats' irritation, though to nobody's surprise, the Shadowclan medicine cat Larksparrow seems to have taken charge of this neutral ground.

Darkpaw stretched, utterly bored. She had been dragged along by her mother, and now she had to 'make amends' with Larksparrow, while helping watch injured cats. She was almost sure she was expected to be a medicine cat. "Of course Larksparrow's suddenly pro-WindClan." she muttered. "After going berserk over Moonstar not claiming land."

An older cat was nearby, cleaning himself. Foxheart had come to see the WindClan cats again, and that one she-cat that had caught his eye, if possible.

"Pro Windclan?" Larksparrow scoffed, slipping into view from behind the great rock. "If that's what you think is happening then you're more mousebrained then I supposed. I still stand by my vision, but if this is what your darling mother" she mewed, emphasizing the words in a way that highlighted her sarcasm, "wishes, then I will do my best to serve. No harm is done by having Shadowclan assert its authority here, and you don't think I'd let that kittypet run this den, do you?"

"No. That's not what I meant." Darkpaw had always been intellegent, even more so than she always showed. "And mocking my mother won't do you any good for the future." She wrinkled her nose at that scent Larksparrow had always carried. It was like a bad vibe, but a smell at the same time. either way, she didn't like it. "I'll just be happy if WindClan comes back, so there aren't anymore arguements." she sighed, remembering all that Moonstar had told her. It's amazing the cat is a medicine cat in the first place. She's more of a leader-type. Darkpaw still wasn't thrilled about how easily this cat won her siblings over. Plumpaw would do anything for food, it seemed. Of course, Heartpool was nice, she had a good smell. So did Starpelt, but she was Larksparrow's underling, so Darkpaw had to view her like she did Larksparrow; she knew that the apprentice viewed her as Larksparrow did.

"Leave her alone, Larksparrow. You know she's smart, and what if she's the next leader? She'd be one we all would admire." Foxheart didn't like Larksparrow, but he respected her, as he did all cats. "But, it's good ShadowClan is leading this- any other Clan, and chaos would be sure to follow." He remembered Moonstar being hostile with Fernstar and Sunstar; he wondered if they held anything against her now.

"Cunning is a wonderful thing, but when it gets a cat to run in circles for hours theorizing instead of taking action I am not for it," she answered on the topic of smarts. Focusing more on Darkpaw as future leader, the medicine cat twitched her tail thoughtfully. "On the upside I suppose more would be done with her as leader," Larksparrow mewed, neither praise nor condemnation in her voice.

I could definately do a better job than you anyways, fox-brain. "I'd be taking action right now, if I was allowed to go on the patrol." she fired back. "Atleast I take more action than Plumpaw- when there was a border fight, I fought, instead of cowering like a duck."

Tuxedopelt had come to say hello to Larksparrow, they shared the same views so conversation was pleasant. "Hello....." He looked put out by the other visitors the tip of his tail twitching with aggravation. He had heard the last bit of conversation before he spoke. "Speak for yourself mouse brain." He was speaking to Foxheart. "I will admire only those who give me reason too. I think it's sad if you are admiring a kit that has not even had its naming ceremony yet. You must think pretty low of yourself. Besides she has just as much of a chance at becoming the new leader as I, Flamepaw, or any other cat does, remember clan leadership is not dictated by birth right. Thank Starclan!" He shot a glance to Darkpaw before making his way over to Larksparrow. It wasn't that he had something against Darkpaw, but there were things he didn't agree with which made him act this way towards Darkpaw.

"Hello Larksparrow."

Brightheart stood at the edge of the hollow, her face scrunched against the breeze and the strong reek of ShadowClan it carried. Curiosity had brought her here, and a need to help out, but now she wasn't so sure.

'You said you would help. And you will, Brightheart.' she told herself. 'Go on!'

So the one-eyed cat found herself walking into a situation no Clan cat ever wanted to face, surrounded by enemies and alone. It didn't help to think they wouldn't hurt her.

Plumpaw did not sulk. He did not moon about. Yet he had been doing both of these things recently and he didn't know why. It was irritating. In a fit of boredom he'd followed Tuxedopelt to Fourtrees, somehow hoping Foxheart would want to go hunting.

"Foxheart!" The black apprentice hurtled down the slope. He bounded up to his mentor and took a quick look around, approving of what he saw. This was great! No injured cats in sight. Maybe they could go hunting after all.

Tuxedopelt's tail twitched as he saw Plumpaw, he figured the little one had followed him. He liked Plumpaw a bit he must admit though. He smiled at the young cat and whispered in his ear.

"Good job little one, you show a fine stealth."

Tux then noticed Brightheart he smiled a bit, but his tail flicked trying to let the other cats know to hold their inner clan drama. "Hello there.....Brightheart isn't it?" Tuxedopelt had always made it his bussiness to learn of the cats of other clans. "Don't act as though we are going to eat you, it's neutral ground after all."

Larksparrow purred as Tuxedopelt approached. Finally, a cat worth talking to. She chuckled a bit at the point he made about Darkpaw's bloodline not necessarily equaling leadership of clan. Maybe that would humble her for an hour or two.

"Any guesses on how the patrols are fairing?" she asked.

The white she cat lifted her head as a new scent wafted to her. She quickly picked out Brightheart, hesitating on the invisible line that marked the entryway to Fourtrees.

"Welcome," she called. "Brightheart, correct? Cinderpelt once told me that you're quite a help in the medicine den when she needs an extra pair of paws."

She turned once more as a black blur yowling Foxtrot's name pelted into the hollow. She rather liked this sibling of Darkpaw's. "You seem to be in a hurry" she noticed, flicking her tail in the direction on the slope he had just bolted down and the crunchy dried leaves that were just settling once more after being disturbed by his churning paws.

Plumpaw blinked in surprise at the older cat. His ears flushed pink at the compliment, and he offered up a small, crooked smile. "Thanks." he whispered back. Maybe Tuxedopelt wasn't that much of a badger.

He beamed at Larksparrow, sharing the feeling of liking this cat - despite Darkpaw's warnings. "Just restless. Hey, do you guys need any prey here? You know, so you don't have to leave, just in case somebody needs help."

Brightheart had to laugh at the warrior's comment, feeling a bit foolish. "I know." she said. "It's even worse because this is Fourtrees." It wasn't a shock that the two ShadowClan cats knew her name - she was a pretty recognizable cat, unfortunately. "Hello, Larksparrow." she mewed back. "Cinderpelt often spoke of you, so it's nice to meet in person. How's leafbare been treating your Clan?"

Her blue eye glittered ruefully as she turned to face Tuxedopelt. "You remembered my name, but I seem to have misplaced yours. It's not Blackspot, is it?"

"Well, we'll never know when we're going to get any injured cats here, so I think a fresh kill pile would be in order. Are you and your mentor volunteering for the first patrol?"

She paused, mind wandering a bit. "Come to think of it, I could use a nice mouse," she finally said aloud. "Fish I can live without, too strong of a flavor, but mice aren't generally on our menu. Maybe you could find one for me," she challenged the pair of black cats. "I'd hate to make a Thunderclan apprentice find one on his territory for me."

She turned back to Brightheart.

"Leafbare's rough as always, but luckily frogs don't hibernate," she laughed. "It's harder to find lizards and snakes, considering they aren't sunning themselves at this time of year, but we're doing fine. I actually found some wild catmint not too long ago. Part of it was destroyed in a particularly bad frost, but I salvaged the rest of it if we need it, Starclan forbid."

"I'd say well since there are no cats here. I still rather think this whole thing is a foolish endeavor. Putting our own in possible harm for Windclan cats? Why its positively dreadful if you ask me. It's so gracious of you to take charge here Larksparrow. " Tuxedopelt purred with , before he sat beside Larksparrow. He took the utmost care in placing his posture just right. He had always been a prim cat that known for keeping every hair in place.

His whiskers twitched in an annoyed fashion at the name the cat gave him.
"Certainly not, what kind of a name is that for a cat of any clan?" He grumbled giving a Starclan help us look to Larksparrow. "My name is Tuxedopelt, I make it my business to know cats of all clans, if you were wise you would do the same." Tux seemed to take a pose that reflected his feelings of being superior to Brightheart.

((This will be before the big fight between Snakefang and Shadowclan if nobody minds. I was thinking after the event, he doesn't return to Thunderclan and then the fight happens....^^'))

An orange ca pranced nervously near the edge of the camp. Windclan. They were searching for Windclan. Finally. He had met some of the Windclan warriors and took a liking to one. He wanted happiness for that clan in particular. He didn't really understand why himself.

His prancing turned to pacing. He longed to be part of the patrol, but they must have thought of him as too childish or something for he was reserve. With a loud sigh, the cat finally sank to his belly and watched the sky. He wasn't attempting to get anything out of Starclan, he was merely watching the clouds sowly rolls by. "Rain?" the cat mewed, his first word the whole day. It didn't look like rain at all, but inside, Snakefang prayed for rain. He slept better when it rained. He felt safer when it rained.
