As the sun was rising a young maiden girl known as Tirranna collapsed to her knees breathing steadily as she looked upon her handiwork. Not one but four mares were nestled beside their baskets sleeping peacefully. It had definitely been a night to remember that was for sure. As her eyes drifted shut, the young girl thought back remembering the events unfolding till she was so exhausted her heart wanted to scream.
~*~
The evening winds spoke as Tirranna cooked her dinner. An almost urgent whisper was sounded through the trees and bushes. Though the wind horses urged her to relocate, she couldn't leave the place she called home. It was cold most night but her friends of the four footed kept her warm. Sometimes she'd even rest upon the elder mare's shoulder or back as the others slept in a circle around them.
She hunted by the early mornings bringing back several pelts and hides to start drying out for new teepee sides and thickness. It would take time to bring it all back to the way it was... and the charred smell was still enough to burn someone's eyes.
Such an evil creature to had caused so much agony and terror in all her friends.
She had gathered quite a few berries and mud for pate and paints. The long reeds were dried out to weave baskets so that was taken care of as well. Keeping watch over the ice mare and the cute little purple flying one she was judging arrival time of their foals. Slowly she had made around 10 baskets all large enough for any variety of foal that would be placed within.
The ice mare was the first to go into her labor, then the flutter mare not too soon afterwards. It was strenuous work but Tirrana pulled each foal into its respective basket painting appropriate markings and colors of the slicked down fillies and colts.

The winds nestled about her with chilly fingertips brushing against Celendria's coat. Her belly had begun to become more active, foals swaying and turning in their nice warmth they nestled within. Craning her head around she spoke softly with quiet grunts, "There there little ones. Soon it will be time then you will rest before you stretch your legs for the first time."
She whinnied a lullaby nuzzling her flanks and shoulder as the babies brushed against her with strong swift movements. She knew there was more than two this time, for her belly hung wilder and taunt more than it ever had. The movements signaled to her possibly three even four resided impatiently to arrive.
She felt the nudges of her belly tighten even more and before she knew it, Celendria was deep into labor watching her trusted friend place the wet foals within baskets after they were wiped down. It was impossible to tell genders at that point, but some of the markings did stand out to her of spots and snowflakes.
This made her very happy for she just knew somehow a filly was born amongst them. Taking count as the baskets were painted she exhaled a hearty nicker to the congratulations of four healthy foals.
"Euphoria, "she spoke with soft muse as it trickled out of her tired lungs, "You will be so proud my love. They will be beautiful."
Her ears perked then to Shaylee whom pregnant as well was near her time.

Shaylee was just royally miserable as her belly hung nearly to the ground when she walked. When the little mare sat upon her haunches her whole underside protruded out as full as her wings when they spread outward to soak up the light. She was remembering the last time with azure's brood grumbling how both he and the babies just disappeared out of her life.
With a snort she sat with her back toward everyone upset and unnerved with the thrusting babies from within. They were such a nuisance keeping her from flying, was she not privileged enough for even that delight she adored so much the angry little disgruntled mare pondered.
She was beginning to trust the two-legger to a point, accepting snacks and treats when she was literally starving. Shaylee was just anxious to get them out of her and in those baskets she eyed up in the corner.
"Whoah she's been busy hasn't she Cel?... Celendria?" she asked with wide eyes as she watched the elder mare go into her labor spells delivering 4 healthy foals. Eying Tirranna with much awe she placed the foals in the baskets, painting pretty colors that possibly represented them.
She watched with curiosity as the girl moved fast and faultless drying them as they arrived. This was the first time she'd seen newborn foals, making her heart leap with joy. As Celendria breathed with relief, Shaylee felt her time approach and she dreaded it.
Grunting with fierce breaths she stamped her little hooves angerly from the pain she was feeling. Gritting her teeth she squealed and murmurer pitifully till she noted strange warm hands, fingertips rubbing the convulsive belly. Her first notion was to get away or bite, but the sensation was so horrible all she could do was cry in pain.
As the fingertips massaged and warmed the pain lessened, and for once Shaylee was grateful a two-legger had taken the initiative to lend a hoof err hand in this situation. As the heated rubbing increased the flutter mare slipped off into a trance, and as she opened her eyes her babies were being dried and placed within their baskets.
The little mare blinked feeling much thinner but so worn out. She cooed with a chirp at the black and purple that covered each of the baskets. Some were light, some dark, but they all carried the color of her and Torn which made her heart leap with joy.
"My babies. Look at them Cel. I have three little foals all black and purple and some white. I'm gonna have babies that will remember me. Love me. Oh Celendria I'm so excited.. but right now I need to..." she murmured collaspsing near her baskets snoozing with tired chirps and light snores.

A few hours later Hsien-Ko had felt the pangs of labor introduce themselves in undesirable amounts of pain as they traveled her sides. A warrior such as herself would never acknowledge pain such as this but tears were nearly hanging from her long eyelashes as she steadily made way to the familiar clearing where the fading cinders and charred teepee hide could still be smelt and scented.
There was an odd feeling that surrounded the area long past that blood encounter. Something mysterious, even curious as the emotions were pouring outward like radiant water cascading off a cliff side. She was indeed right to follow her instincts to this place, for her children moving impatiently inside were telling her urgently.
The smell of new life filled her senses as she rounded a corner of the residence. Noting Celendria and Shaylee resting amongst baskets with colors that resembled them both. Hsien's heart fluttered as another swift kick firmly made her almost stumble with a sad little whinny.
"Soon... soon little ones. Hold on for you will be warriors someday and need to know patience," she chuckled then looked toward the Indian maiden cleaning up the area with several cloths and a pan of warm water. Stomping a hoof she grunted and hoped she'd be as content as the two other mares.
Tirranna was exhausted helping both the elder and the tiny purple mare but nearly leapt to her feet seeing Hsien in labor as well. Fighting strength she called her, a fitting name for such a headstrong powerful mare. Another one of those odd ones wearing weird cloths and a hat. Whomever she was the girl was thankful she'd pushed away the demon that night.
Reaching outward she nervously placed her gentle hands upon the mare's protruding belly feeling the foals move into position. The same as before with the flutter mare, she began rubbing in soft motions to soothe the pain she knew each of the mare's had experienced.
Hsien was wary to accept such a treatment yet she knew it had to be done. Nodding to her mate in assurance she'd bring them home safe, the warrior was confident this girl had the knowledge of getting the job done the way it should be. Snorting she pawed the ground closing her eyes letting the warmth from the girl's hands smooth and calm her labor. It was indeed a trying time for her yet she welcomed such an occurrence as an accomplishment.
As the girl continued to massage the mare's side she coaxed her toward the area with the cloths and water. Thankfully the tub was still holding warm water which was perfect for this mare's joyous occasion. Now she'd wait and hope for another set of healthy children.
As Hsien let herself be spirited away so to speak she let nature take it's course placing her very life in the girl's hands. As she came to conscience the warrior mare was resting with her two baskets painted with yellows, and purple signifying the two foals that would greet Qin, Zi, and herself soon. But for now Hsien was quite happy to rest with them letting her legs curve beneath her as she dozed off. It was a bit saddening to not of seen them as they were born, but she was so tired that her eyes couldn't of stayed open another minute.

Tirranna was nearly exhausted as she cleaned up the saturated blankets of life and water, placing them neatly in piles to be washed later. Such an eventful night had found her leaving three mares extremely happy with curiosity to what lie inside baskets waiting to emerge as their bodies grew stronger.
But what came next as she caught a new yet familiar sound, didn't prepare her for the next round.
Standing wide-eyed was the shy stripe tail mare whose eyes shined unlike any other. She appeared confused and distraught looking around, her belly swelling as the previous mares had been.
Now came the hard part for the tired girl.
Clicking her tongue she caught the mare's attention showing a display of friendship and help for "stripe tail's" labor was beginning as she breathed each breathe.
Kimimela was nervous feeling sad she'd disappeared from Thokya's vigil, but she knew her place to have her babies was where she felt welcome. A bit skittish around the two-legged girl, Kimi had to try and be brave just this once.
Hearing sounds of the girl the ringtail's eyes ventured toward her looking curious and frightened all in the same shimmer that slid over her orange eyes. Stepping lightly she whickered with a grunt toward the girl. Sure the whole thought of her actions was terrifying, but Kimi wanted to show Thokya she could do this... no matter what fear overcame her. Swallowing heavily she thrusted her velvet muzzle into the girl's hands as her body shook in fear.
"Kimi do this she can. Mmph... long it not be... there to hang in ones so little..." she cooed with a sharp grunt and whinny, followed by a forceful stamp of her hooves.
Tirranna took this initiative to pat the lemur mare and check the movement of the foals deep within, her hands moving smooth and slow to soothe the mare. Same as before she began massaging while keeping a vigil over the stripe tail mare. Skittish creatures were tricky to calm and soothe unless you held great patience. Though this one had more trust buried deep within her soul than she let on. Perhaps it was more facing the realization of what was happening past the scared nature this one usually displayed among Tirranna.
Kimimela clenched her eyes shut but peeked a bit when her belly was warmed and soothed. She blinked and wondered what the girl was doing as she slipped into a watery feeling, lucid and tranquil she drifted into another world.
When she came to though her eyes caught sight of three baskets being closed and painted with pretty colors like her's and Thokya's coats. What a joyous thing to see three waiting there for you. If Kimi weren't as tired, she would of danced in celebration. But, she simply staggered over toward Celendria and Shaylee collapsing toward the ground in a heavy slumber.
Tirranna carried each basket over to the lemur mare placing them near her as she slept. Standing back she counted them. Ice Mare had 4 baskets, Hyper sugarplum 3 baskets, Fighting Strength had 2, and finally Stripe Tail had 3 of her own. The total deliveries... 12 healthy foals that would someday follow their mothers and take mates of their own. Oh how joyous to see the future you helped deliver.
After cleaning up her cloths and other things, she curled in the corner watching the four mares sleep peacefully. This night had been quite surprise, and yet Tirranna wouldn't of had it any other way.
"Sleep well special mares.... Ice Mare, Hyper Sugarplum, Fighting strength, and Ringtail. I am proud of you all." she mumbled dozing off herself into a land only she could enter, dreaming of wild wind horses forever moving as ageless as the water.
