So... There is a total LACK of Music Appreciation in schools! I mean, honestly, why don't WE get any glory, huh?! I beyond ticks me off that the only extracurricular activites that get any appreciation is sports! Well, you know what... SPORTS STINK! ON ICE! Uh! It makes me so mad that the morons who throw a football or cheer get more than we do! I'm not saying that they are unimportant, but why does everyone think they are SSOOO much better than us?! I'm seriously so mad about that! We practice almost 120 hours... BEFORE SCHOOL EVEN STARTS!!!!! And then we have this little thing called BAND CLASS and AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICE and Football Games (which they have to go to too, so I won't bother you on why that's unfair) and then we have this thing called COMPETITIONS! All stinkin' day and we march this marching show that's practically a killer and we have memorize our music, our sets and all this other good stuff that is so hard to remember and we get no appreciation at all! Okay, maybe we'll get a "Congrats to the band! Now, in other news..." And.... AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! We work hard too, ya know!
And however much the band is under appreciated, the chorus in worse. I mean, NO ONE cares about the chorus, except for the band, because we feel their pain and we're both performing arts! It's Art Discrimination, I tell you! Discrimination!

Jeez, Angel, it's just a rant... I'm not saying it's just marching band, it's all the arts together, it's just marching band happens to be the easiest to argue. I could definately rant about how writers and drawers are totally unloved too, and even the smart people of this world are mocked. I'm not trying to change the way people think, because I can't, I'm just trying to blow off some steam.

you ever hear of the 'fantasy' camps. football camp, rock n' roll camp. what if we set up a public band camp. give everyone a chance to experience a week as a band kid. everyone will want to find out what happens 'one day at band camp'.
