~ Keppit, Ranald, Nate, Willie ~ Keppit Kalhoun was born a normal human woman. However four years ago she was unlucky enough to be bitten by a frog carrying a deadly disease. Long story short, she became a flesh eating zombie, and underwent a series of experiments that were intended to cure her and eventually was 'separated' into two people. Her own self, with wits and intelligence but still a zombie in appearance... and another woman who looked just like her, only had very pale skin and white hair... the second woman claimed to also be named Keppit and could indeed remember all Keppit's memories and past... the two talked and agreed that the clone Keppit was essentially a sister and would go by their middle name... Ranald. Ranald Kalhoun is a strange woman. *see keppit's descrip for origin details*. She delights in shocking others and generally being a nusciance. Ranald and Keppit call each other sister and both live in the same one room cabin with all Keppit's kids. There's acually quite a bit of mental past to Ranald, because she's basically had to let go of her kids. When she was cloned from Keppit, the three oldest children were almost full grown and she could remember them calling her mom, and being their mother... but they didn't call her mother anymore... they all called her aunt Ranald. And though Ran would never say this outloud, it was essentially like being demoted by her own kids in her mind. Natanial Kalhoun is Keppit's only biological son. He's a really sweet kid, and is about three years old now. He has his mother's skin colouring and his father's pointy ears. Although Nate may look like a zombie it's really only his colouring that does it. He is completely alive, can see just fine, can taste hear and smell just fine, and usually smells like a normal baby. Keppit is very fond of him, since he's one of her few children remaining in her house. Nate and Willie don't really get along... in fact they pretty much ignore each other. Annastasia Rashanine Willamine Canigi Kalhoun... known as Willie to the family. Willie is a very strange little toad girl. She's about 4 inches tall and tends to ignore the family in search of her own adventures and agendas around the cabin. Willie, being a velveteen by species, is imbued with certain powers, one of which is hallucination. So far Keppit and Ranald are the only two people that the little princess, adventuring, rainbow toad can make hallucintate without permission, but she is getting stonger all the time.

Keppit Entry I must admit... it's been quite some time since I've written anything in a journal, but I like to document the younger years of my children's lives for them. That way there's a precedent for them writing in their own journals. And truth be told, I haven't had young children in my house for quite some time. All I have is Nate and Willie, and Willie's pretty much sefl sufficient and stays out of the public eye. But now I also have Ravi. Ravi is a half ant boy with four arms and blue skin who needed a new home after his mother had to leave on urgent business. He's still a baby, and he's unbelievably cute. My friend, Moofuls, was talking to me over the phone the other day and she mentioned several orphaned Sin children (which is what Ravi is). Her own Lyrus is Sin child, and I've always admired his upbringing... so naturally after we got off the phone, it occured to me that I might be able to provide a loving and caring home for one of the orphans. Long story short, I applied, I met some of the Orphans, and one little baby in particular, Ravi... He just stood out to me. I was so glad when I was accepted as Ravi's new mother, and I can't wait to see him and Nate grow up together. Somehow I just know that they'll be the very best of brothers. Now, you see? This is why Gus says I shouldn't start journals for my children. Because I rant and rave about how cute and good and wonderful they are, and then they're forced to read about it everytime they pick up their books. Yes well, poo on Gus, I think he's wrong. Ravi, my little blue love... you are wonderful, and kind and sweet. Please stay that way and grow up well. Please treat Nate with the love and respect that only a close brother can give, and please be true to yourself, whoever that may be. Your mother, Keppit.

Ranald loses a bed Ranald stared down at the little blue head of the child sitting in her lap and sighed. Why did Keppit always do this? Yes he was cute and yes he obviously needed a family, but that didn't mean that Keppit needed to bring yet another kid into the little cabin they called home. “Yeah it's cute, but I gotta ask...” “His name is Ravi.” Keppit didn't bother to turn around, and instead continued to make sandwiches at the counter behind the sofa. The cabin was a very small building, one room really not counting the bathroom, with three lofts, one big bed and two sofas big enough to sleep on. No mater where Keppit chose to stand, she would still be able to hear Ranald's complaining, and so she chose to stand right behind the white haired woman. “Sure sure.” Like Ranald cared. “Whatever his name is, where's he going to sleep? Huh?” Without even hearing Keppit speak, Ranald knew what the answer would be. He'd get Jen's old loft, or Alex's loft once he was big enough... and that sucked. Now that the older kids had all moved out it has seemed like Ranald was finally going to get an actual bed instead of a sofa. “I think it's probably time to built an addition onto the cabin.” “Nonsense.” Keppit turned on her sister and grinned almost evilly. “There's been a lot more people in this house than there are right now. Besides... you're never had a real problem with the sofa before.” “That's because whenever I fight you for the bed I lose.” She stared back down at the sleeping infant in her lap. He really was quite cute, and he awoke a slight pain in her at not having kids of her own... briefly, then the pang went away and she passed the sleeping infant off to her sister. “Give him Alex's old bed.... it'll be better for someone who can climb, and if Nate's anything like Fitz was when he was little he'll be better off in the bed with the big ladder.

Quote: (( Ravi: Toddler Quest! Aww, is it time for this boy to grow already? It seems like he just found his way into a new home! Well, lets see if we can find a way to put those four arms to use, shall we? In order to grow, Ravi will need to find two books, a tank top, two pairs of shorts, and a sandwich of some sort. Yes, a sandwich. What? -------------------- 8D )) Keppit sighed and scooped Nate up into her arms, then she turned to Ranald with a sigh and glared at her sister. "Ran, You'll be ok, right? And you'll actually watch them both right?" Deep in her heart, Keppit knew that Ranald would never let anything happen to Ravi or Nate, but she also couldn't seem to understand Ranald's aversion to children in general. "Yeah yeah yeah." The white haired version of Keppit rolled her eyes and adjusted Ravi on her hip. The small four armed boy just stared up at her quizzically, which only caused Ranald to roll her eyes again. "You know the sooner you leave the sooner you can get back." "I understand this. And you'll forgive me, of course, for making sure my youngest children are being taken care of." She sighed, kissed Nate on the head and handed him over to Ranald. Then she leaned over, took Ravi's face in her hands and planted a kiss right on his little blue forehead. "Ok... right. I'll be back in an hour. Nothing funny, nothing I wouldn't do, no leaving them for Gus or anyone else... " she shook her head at her sister one last time and then dashed out the door, with a fleeting 'I love you' for whichever of the three was still listening. Once Keppit was gone, Ranald dropped Nate harmlessly on the blue sofa, and then set Ravi on the other. She herself plopped down in the recliner and grabbed the tv remote in one hand. "Well laddos... what shall we watch this fine morning? Soap opera?" She glanced at Nate and saw the face he was making. "No soap operas huh? Unless you've just got gas, which is more likely since you're a stinky baby." She turned back to the tv... "Cartoons?" She looked at Ravi, who was staring blankly at her. "Cartoons it is! Can't ruin anymore brain cells seeing at to how you haven't got any anyway." She flipped to a cartoon channel and left the room to go and make herself a sandwhich. In a moment she was back and plopped down in the chair again. As she flopped she realized there was something behind her back and pulled out a wadded up tank top. She sniffed it once, grimaced, and tossed it to the floor. Ravi and Nate had both watched Ranald's procedings with great interest. Nate even went so far as to cry out to let Ranald know that he wanted a bite of her sandwich, but all he got was a "Hush rotty, I'm trying to hear the tv." So several minutes later he flopped to the floor, followed by Ravi. The two of them crawled over to the edge of the recliner where the sandwhich was balanced precariously on the arm, no plate or anything, and gazed up at the peanut butter and jelly with longing. Nate, who was slightly older, saw that there were several books on the floor in front of the closet. So he toddled over and began pushing two rogue specimins out towards the chair. This process took several minutes, but sooner (rather than later) there were two books under the sandwich just waiting to be stood upon. Nate began to climb, but that wasn't what Ravi wanted at all. He wanted to be the first to catch a bite of the prize, so he grabbed Nate by the shorts and yanked backwards on him. However, what Ravi ended up with, was Nate's shorts, while Nate scrabbled to catch his baby balance onthe books.... it didn't work. Nate came crashing down onto Ravi, and as Ravi tried to pull himself up from the little bou heap, Nate grabbed Ravi's shorts in retribution and held onto them as Ravi pulled his way up onto the books. It wasn't neccessarily a conscious decision, but Ravi lost his shorts to Nate's little grabby hands in the climbing effort. Just as Ravi grabbed the corner of the sandwich, Nate kicked the top book out of position, causing the little blue haired boy to come crashing down onto his brother, sandwich and all. There the two of them stayed crumpled amounst Ranald's tank-top find, Nate's little blue shorts, Ravi's little green shorts, the hardcover version of Milligan's big book of animals, the phone book, and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich... Ravi giggled and chomped down on his side of the sandwich... Nate grinned ear to ear, peanut butter stuck to his little black lips. Ranald leaned over and saw the two of them slobbering on her sandwich. "Great. Like I'm gonna eat that now, what with ant and zombie lips all over it."

Ravi Ravi's been around for quite a while, so one could assume he's seen a lot. However, he must be taken to a completely new place by his guardian or someone else and explore it to the fullest extent he can. Also, this area must have some sort of secret (a small thing most likely) that Ravi himself must discover. "RAVI!" Keppit's sudden shout scared him, causing him to jump and almost fall out of his bunk. She saw the movement and turned to him quickly with a look of appology. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you threre. Is Nate up there with you?" "Nope. He's inna backyard." Ravi put down his picture book that he'd been reading and began to climb down the ladder to the floor of the cabin. "Ah. Will you go and get him please? I want to talk to both of you." Ravi shoved two of his hands into his pockets and nodded at Keppit. The other two arms were folded nonchalantly behind him and he walked out of the cabin with as much dignity as he could muster. Keppit laughed to herself as she saw him break in to a sprint the second he hit the doorway. He was a really good kid, and moments later both he and her other son, Nate, were barreling through the door. However the moment Nate's feet hit the threshold Ravi was pulling his sleeve, dragging the zombie child back outside."You're not asposta run in the house." Nate wrenched his sleeve from Ravi's little blue fingers with mild irritation and straightened it out. "I wasn't gonna, Ravi. I was just going too fast to stop real fast." He shrugged and grabbed Ravi's wrist, dragging his brother into the room. "Hiya Mom." "Okay boys, here's the deal. I need to go down to the Skull Monkey building to help Jen and Dan with some things. I can't leave you here alone, so you get to choose." She grabbed a large canvas bag and began throwing her wallet and keys and such into it. "Either come with me and hang out at the Hq while I help Jen, or I can drop you both off at Nate's Dad's appartment and you can stay there till I come back this evening." Ravi looked over to Nate, and Nate to Ravi... then Ravi turned to Keppit. "Issa H Q the place with the swingset?" Keppit nodded quickly. "Yeah." Nate shook his head up and down quickly. "We'll go there, and Daddy can come to see us there if he wants." "Ok. I'll call him and tell him that you'll both be there." She grinned down at them. They were both so gosh darn cute. "Go and get your coats please." She watched the two of them run off to the coat rack behind the door as she quickly packed a couple packs of potato chips and such in the canvas for the two boys. As she looked up again, "Nate, that's Ravi's coat... that's why it's got four sleeves in it." She heard both Nate and Ravi giggle quickly and then turned to usher them both towards the door, and to the car. Once outside she pulled open the passenger side in the little red convertable and motioned both boys to get it. Ravi just looked at her in mild confusion. "Theres only one seat." Keppit smiled down on the child, and then motioned him to look around. "Do you see any other cars here, Ravi? Gus has the minivan and Ranald's gooness knows where with the truck." She knealt down beside him so that she was on his level and put her hands around his waist to comfort him. "It's ok. You and Nate are both small enough that you can share the sealbelt. The Hq's only twenty minutes away, you'll be fine." Nate rolled his eyes and clambored past his mother and borther, climbing up into the car. "Just promise not to squich us, please." Keppit laughed and picked Ravi up, lifting him into the chair. Then she buckled them in and ruffled Nate's hair. "I'll drive my bestest. Zombie's honour." ------------

Quest continued. Thirty minutes later Ravi and Nate were in the backyard of the Skull Monkey Hq, each holding a pacakage of potaoe chips, a cheese string stick, a baggie full of trail mix and a juice box. Ravi was still mentally commiting all that Keppit had told them to memory, while Nate reviewed his snack foods and compared them to what Ravi had gotten. Keppit had said, not to climb anything higher than the swingset, not to fight with each other, and to please not get completely covered in mud or such. "How come you gots red juice?" Ravi turned to look at Nate and then dropped his attention to his juicebox. Without really thinking about it he held it out so Nate could swap his purple one for Ravi's red. The ant boy didn't really care as long as it was juice and sweet. He shoved his trail mix and cheese stick into his pocket, held onto his potato chips and juice box in his lower hands. The small blue child smiled over at Nate as he climbed up on the swingset and began to swing. Nate climbed up into the next swing and just sat there. "It thought this would be more fun really. "suddenly the half zombie boy leapt off the swing and ran across the backyard towards the shed. Ravi frowned, quickly going over the rules in his head to make sure there was nothing about the shed, then he slunk down off the swing, dropped his chips and juicebox beside the swingset, and walked over behind Nate. "Nate. We should go swing or somefing." The ant boy glanced back towards the swing as Nate reached up and pulled open the shed door. "Nate, no! Jen will be mad... Mom will be mad." "You're just scared." Nate laughed and stepped boldly into the shed, not turning to see if Ravi followed. Ravi, of course, did follow. As they entered the shed, the young ant child looked around him taking in all the gardening tools, and the broken yard toys. There was a plastic kiddie swimming pool leaned up against one wall, obviously out of season. Nate suddenly pointed above their heads at something green up on a shelf. "Wassat?" Ravi cocked his head and looked up at the shelf. It really was a very nice shade of green, and he found himself wondering what it was... so naturally, being part ant, Ravi layed hands on the shelfs to his left and began to climb. He noted with satisfaction as he looked out the window that the shed and the swingset were the same height, thus making it ok in his head for him to climb this shelf. When he got up to the green thing he looked at it carefully. The poor kid couldn't read yet so he stared at the picture on the front. "What is it?" Nate called eagerly from down below... "I dunno." He poked at the picture with a little blue finger as if that would make the meaning suddenly become clear. "It's got a Cow on it." He used the aforementioned finger to poke a hole in the bag and came out with something akin to dirt, only smelling quite a bit more foul. "Ech. It smells really bad." Nate sighed and crossed his arms. "Okay. I don't care anymore." So with a sigh Ravi began to climb down the shelf, but halfway down he lost his balance and came crashing down onto Nate. The two boys lay sprawled across the shed floor, and as Nate was complaining at Ravi, the little ant boy noticed a metal ring in the floor. Nate became distracted by Ravi's lack of attention to him and looked to see what the ant boy was staring at. "Oooh." He reached down and grabbed the ring in both hands. "help me, please." Ravi didn't say anything but just put all four of his hands down on the ring around Nate's and helped him pull on the ring. Between the two of them, they were strong enough to pull open the trap door in the floor. Once the two of them were standing above the hole Ravi suddenly had an urge to go down into the darkness. Not just an urge either... a compulsion of the very strongest kind. So he did. The little ant boy lowered himself to the floor and slipped down into the darkness. He could hear Nate voiceing his reservations from above him, but that was no consolation now. Here was something that needed Ravi's attention. He heard a thudding beside him and felt around in the dark only to lay hands on Nate, who had dropped into the hole after Ravi. "Ravi, we gotta go back." Nate's voice was a little shakey, but Ravi didn't hear it. "Hold my hand." The little ant child devoted his two left hands to holding Nate's reassuringly... and then he began to walk down what he thought was a hallway. They walked very slowly, Ravi feeling along the tunnel wall with his right hands. Every four feet there was a wooden support beam of some kind, but other than that there were no breaks in the tunnel and somehow Ravi sensed that the height and width were remaining constant as they walked. Twelve minutes later the tunnel ended, and Ravi wasn't sure what to do next. Nate however noticed that there was a very thin square of light at the roof above their heads. "another door?" His voice was a little less shakey having had time to get used to the darkness. Ravi nodded, even though it couldn't be seen in the dark, let go of Nate's hand and reached for the dirt wall in front of him. His hands came across the metal rungs of a ladder and he grasped them with a grin. Once Ravi was at the top of the ladder he realized that he could only almost open the door... "Nate, issa ladder, climb and help me please." Nate did as he was bid and a moment later the two of them had the trap door pushed open and were staring across the Hq den at their older brother Jen. Jen just shook his head, walked over to the window, opened it and called out. "Mum! You can stop looking! They're here in the den." Ravi would have blushed hard if his skin wasn't as blue as Jen's shirt was purple.

Double Dog Dare Ravi slowly pushed his head out into the room, peering around the counter into the combined kitchen and livingroom. He sighed softly as he realized that his mother wasn't there. Ranald was fast asleep on the sofa, one leg up over the left cushion and the rest of her rammed up college student style into the other half, but her presence was pretty much ignorable. The woman could sleep through a hurricane, and wouldn't even care about what Ravi or Nate did if she was awake. Now, if it had been his mother then he'd have to revise his plans, and if it had been Fitz or Jen or someone then there would be trouble there as well. Part of him had even hoped to see a responsible grown-up in the room, because that would mean that he really didn't have to do this... But a double dog dare... that was something that he absolutely HAD to do. At least that's what Nate and Charlie had said. Ravi sighed again. This was going to be a delicate procedure. He could hear Charlie's voice in his head, the rabbit-girl's face floating in the recesses of his mind as he recalled her expressions... She'd been positively gleeful about him taking the dare, but then he and Nate had both known that Charlie was mean... it wasn't hard to figure out. He crept forward, walking a like an animal on his hands and feet, with one hand reserved out at arms length so that he could grab the remote and run off. Come to think of it, maybe this was something that Ranald would have stopped had she been awake... She did tend to interfere in opperations that threatened her easy going lazy lifestyle... Oh so close to that stupid remote. He wasn't quite sure what Charlie was going to do with it once she had it... but there really wasn't the issue here. Charlie had said to steal the remote from Ranald and then get the woman's wallet. Ravi now had the remote in his hand, but the wallet was lodged in Ranald's back pocket. Ravi sighed for a third time, and as he walked/crawled over to Ranald's sleeping side he could hear the giggles of Nate and Charlie outside the window. Of course they would be watching... Ranald didn't yell or scream or strike out when she was mad... she was much more creative than that. Once you'd gotten on the bad side of their Aunt they'd find that the toes had been cut out of all thier socks, or that the bottom of their favourite cereal boxes had all been cut out and the box placed back on the counter - that way when they picked up the box they cereal would pour out all over the table... it was always funny if it wasn't happening to you. He reached out and located the pocket with the wallet in it, and then slowly and deftly he grabbed the edge of the brown leather and pulled the wallet smothly from the well worn denim pocket. He was out of there like a shot. He didn't even turn around and look to see if she'd woken up, he just rocketed through the back door, crashing into an overexcited Charlie waiting just around the corner.

The Mystery Woman Ravi, Nate and Charlie were sitting in the backyard, at the base of Satou's old treehouse. Ravi had his lower set of arms crossed and held the remote in his upper left hand. He really wasn't sure what he was supposed to do with it now that he had liberated it from the livingroom, but when he asked Charlie had waved a furry hand at him saying that it was for later. Charlie and Nate were sitting side by side, close enough that they could both look at the wallet that Ravi had so deftly stolen from Ranald's pocket. Ravi still didn't know how he felt about looking through the wallet, so he was keeping his distance. Charlie was tossing anything she found out onto the grass anyway, so he really didn't need to be over there to see the wallet's contents. So far there was a gaian driver's liscense that read Ranald K. Kalhoun, a business card from a comic book artist, a library card, a diner's club card, several more cards that seemed to be designed only to fill random wallet space, and a peice of paper full of the phone numbers of people that Ranald knew. "Isn't it wrong to look through other people's wallets? There might be something in there that she doesn't want us to see." Ravi frowned at the other two. "Isn't it wrong to steal from your auntie? Don't make me tell on you, Ravi..." Charlie grinned evily at her brother and continued to riffle through the wallet. She pulled out several more cards, and a wrapped up square that felt like it had a squishy circle in it. She frowned at that for a second in puzzlement and then gave up on it as she tossed it to the grass. Nate gasped suddenly and grabbed the wallet from Charlie. Ravi found that he couldn't take the suspense and he quickly rushed over to Nate's side. The three of them crowded around one thing, as Nate pulled it free of it's platsic wallet casing, and stared down at the photo in Nate's gray hands. There, in plan colours, was a very pretty blonde Ranald with a very young Jen, Gus and Satou sitting around her. They stared at it for a long time, since they'd never seen Ranald with long hair or as much colour as she had in that picture... and she was gazing down at Jen with love, with her arms around Gus as she cuddled him. Ravi frowned. "Aunt Ranald doesn't really like kids... right?" Maybe it was just him... and Nate and Charlie... but Ranald had never looked at any of them with that kind of love... and that woman was deffinitely Ranald. Charlie sighed. "No, Aunt Ranald doesn't like kids." "Maybe it's Aunt Ranald's twin sister?" Nate asked, and recieved a punch in the arm from Charlie in response. "No, stupid. Mom IS aunt Ranald's twin sister... and this isn't her." "That's right." Ravi took the picture from Nate to get a better look. "But she kind of does look like Mom a little..." This time Charlie punched Nate in the arm. "What part of 'twin sisters' doesn't make sense to you? That's Aunt Ranald in that picture, and she looks like Mom because they're TWINS!" "Alright, you don't have to yell." Nate rubebd his arm. Charlie really could pack a punch with her small Rabbit hands, and Ravi's arm was stinging from where she'd struck him.... But he was more interested in whatever it was that had happened to change Ranald from this loving woman into the remorseless and generally appathetic woman they all knew.
