It had been several days, easily nearing a week since he'd last seen his daughter. He had been well chastised for his actions beyond his own worry for Atae'Seirei. She was so much like her mother... And so much like he had been at her age. She stood for what she believed in and, for that, he could not look down on her.
The forest was strange tonight though... Very strange. It was far too quiet for a night so close to spring... Far too quiet and he didn't like it at all; not one bit.
"Atae!" He called out into the darkness, knowing it was foolish to give away his position but wanting to know if his daughter was anywhere out there. He could defend himself... It was her that he worried about.

She had gone a good distance from Pyre by the time she heard another voice. Daddy was looking for her? Oh, right. She hadn't been home in far too long and he would have been worried.
She nudged her way though the forest until she could see the dark outline of the stallion. "I'm right here daddy....."
He'd probably just tell her to go elsewhere, back home probably, and not to be out so late.

Small, fiery paws gently padded their way after the dark mare, the skinwalker having trailed both the dark mare and his older brother since their meeting at his former home.
Pyre had long since left this Atae creature to her own devices, but Smolder found her all the more interesting to follow than his own sibling. No, with Atae, he knew he could do some damage to his brother. He didn't want to kill Pyre. Not yet, anyways. There was no fun in a quick death, but could Smolder manage to destroy his life and then take his life from him... yes, that would be the best way to do it.
Now it seems there was another stallion in the mix. So this was the father so adamant against Pyre. How... interesting.
Keeping a close eye and ear towards the couple, he remained low to the ground, keeping his flaming hooves out of sight. It wouldn't do good to get spotted this early in the game, not when he was about to have so much fun.

He trotted up to his daughter, brushing his nose gently against her cheek before stepping back so that he could look her over. She seemed fine... At least, in the darkness she did. He would have to get a better look at her come morning when there was light to be added to the situation. For now he would simply be glad that she was safe.
"Your mother and I were worried about you... I know that you and your brother and sister are getting older now, but..." He took a deep breath, releasing it slowly. "... We still care. I still care."
... ... ...
He had followed her from a distance, making sure to stay on the right side of the wind. He hadn't wanted her to be caught in his company but that didn't mean he wasn't going to be made sure she made it back safely. She was in the company of her father now... He could breathe easily enough and go back about his own way.

"I just lost track of time." She nuzzled her daddy back before she shook out her mane. "I'm fine. Stayed away from trouble just like you taught me." Technically she was lying in his eyes but she didn't consider Pyre trouble.
"I was on my way home just now. I knew the two of you would worry if i didn't come back at some point"

The grin grew wider on the coyote's face as the plans finally began to finalize in his mind. This stallion, whoever he was, could be the key to destroying whatever friendship or foolish link Pyre shared with this Atae mare.
His claws retracted from his front paws, and one soft pad dug against the ground as he watched the scene unfold before his dark red eyes.
Now, it was only a matter of time before his opportunity to strike would present itself.

His ears swiveled as he listened to the darkness, trying to figure out whether or not he'd actually heard something or if it was just his mind playing tricks. Whatever the case may be, he did not like it. There was something unnatural about the stillness of the woods.
"I think that now would be a good time to return to the safety of our home... Go on ahead. We'll talk more once I'm home." He nodded slowly, pale gaze drifting past her to the dark forest.

She could tell her daddy wasn't paying attention to her for the moment. She inched closer to him for a moment and looked back over her shoulders. "Don't stay out too long." She nipped his neck gently before she moved to trot past him back toward the caves.

He grinned. There it was!
As stealthily as he possibly could, the coyote made his way through the forest, darting about and around the dark shadowy trees, his path curved. He continued his sprinting, wary and cautious to remain unheard as best he could, until he could assure himself that he was now in between Atae and her father. The mare had run off, no doubt to return to the rest of her family, leaving her father into the care of the unknown Skinwalker that had been stalking her. Wouldn't it be a treat for her to know that it was her fault that her father would be dead soon? He'd have to ensure that she realized it was her that lead him to her father... that is, of course, for the brief moments she had left on this world. After she blamed Pyre for this mess, he'd have his fun killing her too. Oh, the fun he would have.
His paws planted firmly on the ground, he watched and waited for the next step in his plotting to follow through with.

His body tensed as he waited for a moment before turning his back, meaning to follow after his daughter. He was just on edge... It was nothing...
His tail flickered, head giving a light toss before he picked up his pace. No one should be out in the forest tonight. It was just... One of those nights; a dangerous night.
... ... ...
He didn't know what it was that had made the older stallion pause but he didn't like it. The black stallion with the strange, painted face might not have liked him but at least he seemed intelligent. If he was wary then there had to be cause... Right?

His fire grew brighter as he grew more excited. He felt his heart pounding, his ideas and thoughts racing as the older Soquili turned and began walking directly towards the smaller coyote.
He felt the urge to say something quippy, to forewarn the old stallion of his presence, but he remained silent, a toothy grin still spread wide across his muzzle.
Instead, he would wait to be found, and then when he was, he'd give the old creature the surprise of his life.

He paused for a moment as the sight of flames, taking a step back as he braced himself. No... There had been no storm that could have struck lightening to the grass; the grass itself was far too wet from the snow, and yet flames he saw. Flames... And a set of gleaming eyes.
His own heart skipped a beat. This. This was what he had warned his daughter against; bringing trouble home.

His tongue ran over the outside of his maw, his saliva increasing as he drooled over the idea of soon having warm bloody flesh between his teeth, feeding his hunger.
His eyes watched for the meeting gleam of the other creature's stare, and when he saw it, he knew it was time.
Taking a few short bounds, the coyote leaped off of the snowy ground and sailed into the air, his fangs poised and aimed at the creature's shoulder, his claws sharp and prepared to grab and shred whatever they might come in contact with during their airborne journey.

He felt claws come in contact with his shoulder, the heat of flames singing the soft blackness of his coat. He wheeled around quickly, trying to toss the creature off of him as he reared back, dark hooves striking out at the creature that he could not hit. He cursed his foolishness for not being more prepared for something like this.
He had turned away when he saw his friend's father leaving, looking back only when he heard sounds behind him. His eyes narrowed, flames licking at his legs as his own defenses rose. If he just stood back and let this happen he would be no better than the pale faced stallion believed him to be. It would be just as if he were attacking.

He heard himself grunt as his side came in contact with forceful dark hooves, and the young skinwalker quickly altered his direction and curved back, pausing before any attempt of making a second attack. His long tongue panted as he breathed in the air, his mind focusing on forgetting the numbness in his side from where the hoof had struck him. It would be easy to forget, as he would concentrate on all the chaos he would create, starting with this stallion's death.
His tongue retreating back into his mouth, the canine took off once more in the direction of the wounded stallion, his intentions now with more lethal purpose than to merely strike at him.
