Mtanizi was a skeptic, and found the only one he could truly trust was his mother, and she wasn't around right now. He had noone to confide in, to talk to and he was just plain bored. The orange and white wild dog rested his jaw on his paws gently and turned his sapphire eyes to the sky. A lonely life away from others left much time for contemplation, and a weary mind soon led to closed eyes, his mind drifting, ears raised to catch sounds of incoming animals. Who would he find, who would he talk to? Perhaps his mother would come back. He relaxed.

Kadogo had always been a loner when he and his siblings had been puppies. The run of the litter and ambitious to become a border patroler. Now of course, he had that job. Had done ever since Twawa had been Alpha. Then it had been an escape...and had led to his present joy, because on patrol he'd met his mate Oak.

So when he woke from a nap to find a puppy of theirs chewing on his ear, he was happy to set the young babe aside with a loving lick and head out to work. The small male passed others on his way - the pack seemed happier in general since the new Alpha and his girls had come.

He was aware that they were near home and tensed again, memories pooling in the back of his mind. No, he shouldn't call it home. It was once a place of fun and comfort that was spoilt by his sister. He sighed, a long slow note that hung in the air. He hadn't seen any of his family for ages, infact, he had barely met anyone. He noticed someone approaching in the distance and cocked his head on his paws. They had the same pelt as mother, that cream. But the cream was laced with a black, the same black as mother, but nowhere near enough to be her. His brow furrowed. Hm, perhaps it was just another dog.

When Kaddy reached the border, he saw another dog not too far from their borders. Curious. He ventured out a little way. That dog... he looked familiar. He had that Mpinzani look. Well, what had been their look, though now they had everything from brilliant pink to blue. White and orangey brown. The rust of his father's fur. COuldn't be one of his relatives...

He called out, a wordless cry of greeting that'd carry the distance and was neutral in tone. Hello?

Hm, maybe he would be open for a little conversation? Mtanizi however did not raise from the cracked earth. His eyes grew wide as the dog let out a bark and he twitched slightly, before returning the call, his own sound felt dragged out and forced, tainted with emotional exhaustion. Oh well, it was better than being alone and hot and bothered.

While tinged with feeling and not the most enthusiastic call, it was a call nonetheless. And what's more, Kadogo knew who it was. How can you forget your brother's voice? And with that clue, the white and rust pelt became familiar. It was Mtanizi, it just had to be. It had been a long time since he'd seen him.

"Mtanizi?" Kaddy started to pad towards him, curious and somewhat worried. Too many dogs had vanished from the pack and if anything had happened to one o his siblings out there.... Still, he schooled a smile on his face.

Guilt spread through the male. He shouldn't have just left. Maybe they should have said goodbye? But. He hadn't seen father for so long, and neither had mother. And with Twawas behaviour, the two dogs had figured it would be best if they slipped away silently to prevent further disruption within the pack. His guilt was coupled with apprehesion but half joy as his eyes widened. But yes, It was his brother.

"Kadogo?" He could barely whisper.

He nodded, his smile growing wider and with genuine delight rather than a false one to cover his worries. Dhati had recently returned, now Mtanizi...maybe Mataka and teh others would too and they could be a family again.

"Yes, it's me. At the borders as always when my pup's aren't tugging at my tail. How've you been, brother?" He forgot that Mtanizi had no clue about his puppies. A proud father with his beautiful and beloved Mo at his side, Kaddy was forever mentioning his children.

The word pups and brother took him aback and he thought back to this times at home. Ah, it had been so long. Some of those memories were fond, and others a little more startling. Kadogo was male, which meant he was easier trusted, but he was still family, and his family life had made him this way. However his brother seemed genuinley happy to see him, and it was now that he reacted to his words. "Pups?" He asked, half in delight and half in surprise. Mtanizi wasn't really one for pups, what if, like Twawa, they took over and upset the family? Were they worth the upset? he supposed he was thinking a little selfishly so offered a smile. "Thats great news, and I've been alright really, you?"

"Better now Twawa has gone and I have my own family. For little ones. One of the girl's are so like dad...and one of the boys reminds me of you somewhat and the third has blue from our sibling." He replied, thinking of the comparisions in his head. There was also his son who reminded him of Mo only lighter and the one with the blue, his 'princess' was quite like him.

"I'm offically a border guard now too... hey, have you seen mother at all? I was never sure where you guys went. Everything was so crazy.."

Twawa? Gone? His ear perked up. had the pack reformed? Picked up the pieces? He lowered his head, a trail of pessimistic thoughts running through his head. No, it still wouldn't be the same. "Aww." He remembered his blue sibling, though didnt have much to do with any of them growing up, he was more of a mommys boy, and still was really. At least he knew mother wouldn't let him down. "Border guard" He repeated. "Mother, yes, she is travelling with me, I think she got scared by the whole thing, although she hasn't changed much, we could go find her soon if you want."

"That'd be nice. I missed her, so very much. You and the others too."

"I'd have left but you know me. The pack could be in tatters, bare bones and I'd still be here, clinging on." He chuckled, though he was deadly serious. Kadogo was a very very loyal creature.

"I'm sure she'll be happy to see you." Hopefully Kadogo could be trusted and wouldn't hurt anyones feelings. He was his brother and seemed trustworthy and sensible enough, after all he had pups and the like, but he'd seen what family could do before. Though Kadogo was male. "I wish I possessed that loyalty sometimes, I suppose the hurt and initial shock of her actions just kindof, scared us away." He knew it was no excuse and looked to the ground, he felt guilty now.

"Twawa you mean? Our dear sister." He sighed, his words sarcastic. He wished she'd been a good Alpha, he really did, because she was his sister. And in some way he loved her still. Though he was very glad she was gone.

"I never followed her. She was no Alpha to me. I stayed out here away from her and protected the border...fought off a few hyena and the like that'd just made it all worse - if that was possible.

He grumbled at the words dear and sister. Some sister she had been, where was her loyalty?! He sighed and looked up to view Kadogo for a moment, and spotted his expression. "I understand." Kadogo seemed to have the same opinion as he did, only acted on it less, kept loyal to his family and tried to escape trouble. Mtanizis stomach sunk a little lower in his body, he felt guilty. Half of him wanted to comfort his brother and offer to return and visit his nieces and nephews, but another part of him wanted to question the reality of all of this. He was skeptical, and to be truthful, afraid of being betrayed, he could get so angry sometimes.
