I just downloaded a video of Jack Black and the Foo Fighters doing Back in Black, and it's ******** EXCELLENT.
I've also heard Maroon 5's version of Highway to Hell.

In my town, ever since the Maroon 5 concert, people have either been obsessing over AC/DC when they've heard only Highway to Hell, or they've been hating AC/DC just because Maroon 5 played Highway to Hell at their concert. Not only that but I also don't approve of people redoing songs because they didn't write them so therefore they shouldn't be allowed to play them.

I think it''s perfectly fine to do other people''s songs, as long as you do a good version of it. For example: Nivana''s versions of the songs "Plateau" and "Lake of fire" are much better than the originals. The Jack Black/Foo Fighters performance is very good.

Miss Pie I don't like any song by Nirvana. In my opinion they suck. But I must admit the Jack Black version was pretty good. Oh and Goldfinger's version of 99 Red Balloons is my alltime favorite song. But I still feel that it is more impressive to write a song yourself than to take an already written song and redo it. As far as the Nirvana thing goes, that's fair enough - we all have an opinion. I don't mind bands doing covers, as long as they can write their own songs as well. For example, Rage Against the Machine's 'Renegades' album was made up of their own collection of coversongs, but the album is amazing, even though it is made up of coversongs. But the other 3 CD's they did, the songwriting was amazing.

Plenty of older bands (AC/DC included) did covers of songs. AC/DC did Baby, Please Don't Go and School Days, and there's a abootleg of them playing Johnny B. Goode with Cheap Trick live. The Rolling Stones did fantastic covers in the 60s...seriously. As did The Beatles.
