ok my band needs an oboist too! I am already a woodwind player ( obviously ) I want to switch but i'm not sure if my BD would let me switch HELP~~~

I am already a woodwind player ( obviously ) I want to switch but i'm not sure if my BD would let me switch HELP~~~ i made the same switch but that was back in 5th grade,so it depends on what grade ur in, if u do want to switch get private lessons first,if u have private lessons on the clarinet ask them first

well oboe rocks. clarinet is meh. thats cause your like the only one. but it depends on how talented you are i guess. i dont play oboe :/

I'll tell you now Oboe is practically nothing like clarinet. So I would say go for it if you're willing to practice a lot. It'd be easier if you were a sax player lol.

I heart oboe I've been thinking about trying out another instrument, and I guess oboe wouldn't be bad...I play sax, too. Are the fingerings similar, or something?
