The wind up this high was cold; chapping Nivriti's nose a little as she flew along, her wings cutting through the air in powerful strokes, her breathing slow in the thinner air. There were no acrobatics for the mare this time, just the wide open sky and time alone with her thoughts.
After a time a dull ache in her muscles made her drop lower into slightly warmer air, drifting slowly towards the ground as her belly groused at her, a little reminder to go graze. She was reluctant to land however and took to circling for a while over a small bank of trees near the Lake, her tail and mane rippling behind her like a set of ebony streamers.

The red stallion shifted his impressive bulk lower among the bushes, a stupid grin spreading across his face. In his long years, Jiraiya had learned the best stories gathered at the water holes....and the best of those happened when the players thought no one else was watching.
Today was clearly to be no exception, and he would have worn the gleeful expression of a colt finding a clover field, were he not completely enthralled by the one who had appeared to tell the tale. He felt his spiky mane rise with his temperature as he watched the winged mare circle lower and lower to the earth. Winged...! A beautiful bird of prey, surely out to pluck away his heart. He burrowed further into the brush to get as good a view as the concealment would allow, a faint whinny of excitement escaping him.

Nivriti landed a little heavier than she had hoped for, she must have been more tired then she had supposed. She attended to her wings as she got her breath back, putting feathers in place and cleaning the pinions that seemed to have picked up some dirt at some point during her flight.
That done, she folded them both up, heading to the waters edge to get a drink and wash her mouth out after the cleaning. Her tail snaked behind her on the ground as she wandered over and she took a long drink before standing and letting out a long breath.
It was another peaceful day. Still not realising that there was another nearby, Nivriti moved a few paces from the Lake and lowered her head, grazing as she went.

The snaking of that glossy tail was set to hypnotize him as surely as any cobra, he was certain, and he felt his shaggy legs tense to stand before he quite remembered what standing was.
He paused only a moment more before he rose to his full height, shaking the leaves from his unruly hair. He threw in a theatrical yawn for the sake of innocence. He may be denying the world some great tale of humor or inspiration by revealing himself, that was true.
But he always did prefer the love stories.

Nivriti's ears twitched, and a little shiver ran through her. How odd. It was a sensation akin to being watched and she stood, looking around herself, turning as well. She gave a half-shrug and carried on eating before a noise caused her to stop.
'What now?' her eyes narrowed as she cast around again to see what had made her look up this time and spied..something shedding leaves from what looked like a mass of hair. Was it a Soquili? She approached with caution, her wings at the ready should whatever it was prove to be something - else.

Oh, a beautiful bird of prey, all right, and here she came, wings spread to mantle the kill.
Jiraiya watched her approach with eyes as dazed as any rabbit in a hawk's shadow. Ah, such a happy way to die! He grinned, intending to greet her, but found the sound caught in his dry throat.

'Oh, so you are a Soquili!' Nivriti exclaimed once she'd gotten close enough to properly see and ascertain as to what her watcher was. Her head quirked to one side, an expression of amusement on her face for he was quite the strangest stallion she had yet to see.
Her wings folded again as she felt there was little to fear from him, and she waited, the silence stretching before she felt compelled to speak again. 'Hello? Are you okay?' She returned his grin with a soft smile, he still seemed friendly but she wished he would speak.

That divine voice....it would lead a mute to sing. The big stallion's grin broadened, and his impressive mane shook like a wheat field in the wind when he nodded. "I've never been better, lovely angel. And yes, I am a Soquili." he chuckled at that, a rakish glimmer in his dark eyes. "You've never seen a stallion like me? Should I be flattered?"

Angel? She blinked at the stallion, her wings rustling as she tried to work out if he was being perfectly serious or not. With that grin it was hard to tell.
'Not a stallion with so much..hair,' Nivriti replied, an ear flicking at him as she continued to regard him with her head canted to one side. 'It depends on how much stock you take in being so unique. You could be flattered I suppose, if you wanted.' she chuckled a little.
