Siri padded silently and as quickly as she could manage. There was a wounded gazelle nearby, and it was practically taunting her with its closeness. Finally, she spotted it, and pondered on what her next course of action should be.

However, just when she had staved off the majority of her thoughts this entire time, she remembered her new friend. Siri sighed and smiled. True to her word, she had stayed in the lower regions of the Savannah, making sure to sidestep the prides barriers and keep a low profile. Still though... she had hoped to see Jicho again.

Thoughts of him popped up at the most random times, and it was beginning to interfere with things. Like now. Siri looked up to were her prey had previously sat, only to find it gone, spooked by some other unknown entity.

It was getting slightly ridiculous...

Siri made up her mind. If she didnt see him by tomorrow, she would begin to make the journey back to familiar lands.

She really hoped she would see him again.

Jicho's own mind had been muddled and full of thoughts of the black lioness. It was the understanding and calm that he admired the most. He felt almost like he was coming out of his childish shell, one that he never much thought of trying to climb out of until now.

His black paws, with their white zigzag stripes, plopped onto the ground in a melodic manner. His pace was even, if a bit slow. His ears swiveled all around him, as it seemed to be a busy day today. Many birds calling out to one another, the hooves of preybeasts kicking up dirt into the air. It was comforting to see life flourishing again.

Perhaps if he had been paying a bit more attention, though, he would of been able to notice the black lioness just off to his left.

Siri, on the other hand, WAS paying attention. She was almost always paying attention, even in sleep. Thats when she got a positively brilliant idea. Chalking it up in her mind as payback for distracting her from her prey (not that Jicho really had anything directly to do about it), she sunk low into the grass.

Creeping slowly around him in a wide circle, she snuck up behind him. When she was close enough, she popped out of the grass with a big grin. "Hello!"

She continued grinning, hopping to get a reaction of some kind out of him.

"Bwuh!" Jicho tried to swirl around to see what had startled him. He managed to see black before he tripped in his motion, stumbling over to land on his side with a huge huff. "Oof!"

His silver eyes finally confirmed that the black he had seen was Siri. "Siri!" he echoed his mind, laughing lightly. "Hey, you totally scared me there!"

He stayed where he was for a moment, shaking his mane as he let it fall on his shoulders more comfortably. Now he was probably all covered in bits of grass. Oh well. He pulled himself back onto all fours, giving himself one more good, full body shake before letting his eyes fall on her again.

"It's good to see you again, Siri," he said, a bit more softly than before.

Perfect.

It was just the reaction she had wanted from him, and she couldnt help but give a giggle. Reaching out a paw, she snagged a little twig that had gotten stuck in his mane. "It is good to see you as well. I had all but given up hope that we would meet again." She smiled at him.

It was slightly unnerving to Siri how comfortable she felt in his presence. "How have you been?"

Jicho's skin crawled, though in a very good way. So perhaps he should think that it tingled a bit, instead of crawled. He let his tail flop around to rest on his forepaws as he sat himself down.

"Aww, you should never give up hope, I've learned. Everything you hope for will come, sometime. At least, that's what I've learned from my mother," he grinned. The prefect mother in his eyes. "I've been alright. It feels like it's been quiet around here, though, wouldn't you say? I haven't been able to see anyone else for a couple days." He twitched his ear. "I hope you've been good, though, right?" he asked, grinning. Yeah, he was pleased, he could admit it.

Siri played absentmindedly with the twig in her paw. She didnt remember much of what her mother said, but in her mind at least, it sounded like something a mother would say. She smiled calmly at him. "I have been well, and I agree that it's been quiet."

And it was true. The area was rather secluded, and food was plentiful. She hadnt run across anyone else save Jicho, however, which was a little strange. Normally she would at least see signs of other lions. "How have you been Jicho?"

Jicho grinned. He couldn't help it, probably because she was playing with a twig, and he hadn't really seen that before.

"I'm good. The pride's getting a little bit bigger, which is always comforting. At least we're not all related to one another now," he laughed, but snorted as well. That was a problem, really. But at least the younger generation seemed a little more comfortable with the ideas of 'outsiders' now. It was essential to their survival to try and get new blood. Jicho would only do it if the interested lion was willing, though. Anything by force left a gross feeling in his stomache.

"Plus, it's a pleasure to see you again!" he blurted, unable to really keep it in. Oops. So much for being a prince, all proper and polite.

When he grinned, is when Siri became conscious that she was playing with a twig. If she hadnt been so dark, you might have even seen her blush. She promptly stopped and laid it aside next to her. How embarrassing! She didnt know why she was getting so flustered about it, it wasnt like her. Siri could feel heat in her face too. Perfect.

"How large is your pride, if you dont mind me asking?" She didnt know how much the prince would tell her, nor if it would be alright. The Mteo'nyungu seemed like rather secretive people.

Siri was shocked however at his next statement. It had come out of nowhere! But she smiled regardless. It was cute, how earnest and open Jicho was, especially with a stranger. Her smile quickly turned into a chuckle. "It's nice to see you as well."

"Ummm," he said, tapping a claw on his chin as he tried to think about it. How many of them were there? He couldn't keep track anymore. "I think I want to say around 30 now? Most of us are related in one way or another, though there are a couple that are from the past generation that aren't. Some of them are a little crabby though," he said, peeking around at the general direction from where he had come, narrowing his eyes with a glare. After meeting Siri, he had completely switched him mind about 'outsiders'. Not that he ever thought much against them, but he was a bit more open about it, as well. As long as he was careful, though, everything should still be okay.

He shifted his paws a bit, his own face feeling a bit flushed. "Yeah, well," he said, scratching a paw. "I did mean it, even if it came out kind of weird."

"Thats a nice size pride." It was still kind of small, but Siri just guessed that was because she had grown up near the pride lands. She wondered how the pride would survive much longer unless they were recruiting- if they were all related they couldnt very well have babies.

She thought about his next statement a little bit before speaking. "Sometimes... its the things that come out weird that you mean the most." She smiled.

"It might still be kind of small, but it was even smaller when I was just a cub," he said, playing a bit with the dirt on the ground. It was different than from home, since it was normally a reddish colour at home. Very pretty. He mingled over the thought for a moment that maybe it was just special to his pride, but he really didn't know.

"Oh?" he said, laughing. "Perhaps that's true, but that doesn't mean that it can't make you feel like a fool, either." Jicho was slowly learning what it was like to be more social with more than just his family. Sure, he saw a lot of his fellow pride members, but that didn't mean that he didn't know them that closely, or talked with them much either.

Siri laughed with Jicho on that one, because it was very true. Sometimes saying the things you meant DID make you look a fool... but that didnt mean necessarily that you shouldnt say them. She wondered what his pride was like. Obviously it was rather small, but that probably meant it had a lot of traditions and rituals.

"So tell me what the Mteo'nyungu are like!" She was genuinely excited to hear, Siri liked learning about all the different cultures that the prides possessed. Each one was different in its own way, and she didnt have a chance to learn about them very often.

Jicho laughed. "Well...what do you want to know?" He knew that his home might seem a bit complicated compaired to some others ones, or even weird. So he wanted to try and explain it all to her in a slow way, and he would pray that she would understand.

"I can answer some questions if you have any. Otherwise....I'm not so sure where to start," he added on with a smile. "I can assure you though, it's nothing scary! I promise!"

Siri walked up and sat across from Jicho, excited to hear about his birthplace. "Hmm.... I'm not quite sure where to start either!" She thought about the questions she would ask, and there were quite a few of them.

"Tell me about some of your traditions." She smiled at him like a cub getting a bedtime story. Siri had always enjoyed stories and traditions, because they were all so different. There were countless stories about the gods and the creator, and each tribe interpreted them differently.
