The sun was high in the clear blue sky. It was a peaceful day, and as Shipher stood in the tall grass grazing for lunch he thought to himself, 'This day couldn't get any better.' He smiled slightly as he raised his head to watch a pair of birds float by, still chewing as he did so.

Scarlet's head raised as she heard a munching sound. Zoh my gods! It was the stallion with the soft mane! since she thought of everyone as a friend she immediatly left behind the flower she was so interested in and bounded towards him. Of course, again she lost her balance and rolled right into him laughing the entire time. "Hey! It's the stallion with the really soft mane! I never got your name. I'm Scarlet! Or did I already say that?" Scarlet pondered a minute before she hopped back up. "Need help?"

At first Syipher thought it was just coincidence, that someone had just stumbled into him. But when he heard the name, fear streaked through him. Could this be the same crazy mare that he had met before? Syipher turned slowly to see who it was that had ran into him and had spoken, and sure enough, to Syiphers horror, it was the mare.
"Uh, no..." Syipher said hurriedly as he staggered to his feet, tangling his hooves in his long mane occasionally. "No, I don't need any help; at least from you..." The words came out with ease since it was how he truly felt; but he didn't think of how his words might affect Scarlet.

Scarlet was a naive mare so she huffed and said," You must be one of those difficult stallions who think us mares have cooties. I do not have cootis, I can assure you." She grinned her lop sided grin and blinked a few times. "Sorry I hit you. I was going to just walk over but... I tripped. I'm kinda clumsy that way. What's you name? With a pretty name like that I'll bet it's really nice!" She grinned again and tossedher own short mane.

"Just like I bet you tripped into me before?" Syipher asked sarcastically. "And I wouldn't say what you are is clumsy." He took another step away from Scarlet, making sure not to turn his back on her. There was no telling what she would do if he did. He paused for a moment. He wasn't used to being complimented. "Uh.... My name is Syipher." He paused for a moment once more before saying softly, "Thank you for the compliment." To tell the truth he hated his mane, and as he watched the mare toss her own mane he envied her. His life would be much simpler if his mane was short and wasn't always get into his way. But at that precise moment, he was glad that he had it.

"No, then I actually tackled you, but I was under the impression we were playing tag! I love that game! I love running!" She grinned at Syipher again and continued, "Syipher..." she paused a moment thinking about the name. "That is a pretty name! And your welcome! Do you not get compliments that often?" She tilted her head and stayed where she was, noticing though that Syipher had moved back.

"No, not too often..." Syipher admitted to the mare. Almost immediately though he wished that he had not said a thing. Syipher gave a sigh and stared at Scarlet with an annoyed glare. He wasn't meaning to glare, but is anger at himself for what he believed to be stupidity showed in all his actions.
"I don't think I like the game tag; especially if you must tackle others. You know you could hurt someone doing that?! I'm lucky I didn't get hurt; you too! What if you had flipped over me and hit your head hard enough to knock yourself out?" Syipher snapped.

Scarlet smiled and stepped forward. "Thank you for the concern, but I'm very careful about hitting my head. That and I've hit enough things I think I've lost the feeling in my head. but it's very kinde of you to worry!" She smiled again and thought for a second. "Did I hurt you? I'm sorry if I did, I never meant to..." Her ears went back and she lowered her head. She never noticed his glare.

'Grr.... And now she probably thinks everything is hunky-dory just because I was worried she might get hurt... Terrific...' Syipher thought as he gave a short sigh of frustration. When Scarlet took a step forward, Syipher took a step back. He was not about have her get to close; he dint trust her enough to let her, especially with her fickle ways.
And then the mare gained a solemn expression, or what Syipher took to be a solemn expression. He sigher once more, softer this time, before speaking up. "Why are you looking sad now?"

"I don't like it when I hurt soquili. It makes me sad. I'm sad because they're sad. I don't like soquili being sad. It makes me sad." She noticed his step abck and took a step back herself. "Did I hurt you?" Her voice was quieter now. "I promise I didn't mean to. I'm sorry if I did." Scarlet tilted her head a little and pulled her ears back a little more. "Please don't be angry with me."

"Look... Please dont be sad, please? I didn't mean to make you sad. You just..." Syipher trailed off for a moment. How could he tell this mare that he believed she was completely crazy and that he was scared of her?
Syipher sighed not knowing what to do. "Maybe it's better if I go... " Syipher mumbled as he began to ponder on the thought of Scarlet being crazy. He took a few more steps back and turned to leave.

Scarlet raised a hoof and said, "No! You don't have to leave! I'm sorry I made you asd or hurt or whatever. I really didn't mean to! I promise!" She circled around in front of him and plopped onto her hip. She smiled and said, "Maybe we can just sit an talk that way no one ends up hurt! I like that idea, I like to talking. I also like to smile. Smiling's my favorite!" And she babbled like that for a while about whatever cam,e into her head.

Now Syipher was starting to feel bad. She hadn't hurt him, not really... Just scared him. He started to turn around to sit and talk with her since it didn't sound too bad, but then she started rambling and it reminded him that he was also scared of her because he thought she was crazy. "I'm sorry..." he whispered as he continued on, feeling more like an a** with every step.

"Oh... alright, you don't have to be sorry! I know something pressing is happening so you have to go!" She hopped up and grinned. "See you around then? Maybe we can talk then. I'd like to talk to you, you seem, really nice!" She turned to head back to her mountains and called back, "Bye then," with her usual endearing and crooked beam.
