She awaits everyday by the window, watching the cars pass. A little rabbit hops around the tree then scampers away when he pulls into the drive way. He walks into the house without saying a word, at once he reaches his arms out for her. She rushes to his arms all at once her heart stops for a moment and she smiles. Her husband is home once again.
The dinner was quiet, candles lite, and the mood just right. Tom tells Pearl all about being on a ship, watching the ocean waves and seeing a whale or two. "It was quiet and calm most of the time," he tells her. Toms job keeps him away for 6 months out of the year but they dont mind. They finished dinner and decided to sit and finish talking on the couch. Then soon they went to bed.
They could not sleep, the cuddling was warming and inviting. They both were deeply looking into each others eyes, he asks her to marry him as he pulled out a diamond ring from under his pillow. She began to sob, Tom was puzzled, why would she be upset he thought to himself. "Tears of joy my love, tears of joy," she sweetly said to her wonderful husband to be. He placed the ring on her finger and they kissed softly.
His fingers started to wonder, exploring her body as if they were virgins again. Caressing every line, dimple, and elevation. She starts to undress him, kissing along his neck and collarbone as he strips her clothing off gently while still exploring. Everything was like the first time like back in high school where they could only quickly touch. She stops him before they got to far and asks, "can we try for a baby this time?" He smiles with a loving yes and replies, "I would love that, I want us to have a family and not just us but at least one child too!"
The next morning he awakes to Pearl not there. She left for work a few hours before him. As he burnt his breakfast he began to pack a picnic lunch for the two of them. As he was looking for the basket he stumbled upon the old high school pictures. As a smile appeared on his face he placed the pictures in the basket.
They decided to have a picnic in the park. Under the willow trees they sat. The sun kissing their skin with the warmth they ate peacefully. As she began to pack the picnic back up she sees the pictures and remembers the good times, the bad times and even when they meet. Soon after looking at them she thinks to her self, we will make more, many more, o the memories we have made but all the more to come.
Six months have passed since he came home, the next morning he will have to leave again. One last night they had together then when he returns again they will be married. As he was gone she planned the wedding to be and even the music they will dance too. She awaits till he comes home again, back at the window again but bigger this time.
He returns home again and sees shes 7 months pregnant with a girl. They got married soon after and had a girl named Lucy. Watching her grow they looked back on the years of their lives, watching their grandchildren grow, they noticed that they have always been happy and always will be happy. It will always stay the same and that it has....
