DESCRIPTION - The Chimain system has 5 planets orbiting a sun, two of which can support life. The second and third planets are only 165 days apart and follow the same orbit. The first planet is basically a volcanic planet which can sustain nothing. The fourth planet is a gas giant and the fifth is an ice planet with Duranium deposits spread across the entire southern pole.

LOCATION - Sector C-13

PEOPLE - All planets are currently uninhabited and open for colonization.

CLIMATE - The Weather on the first planet is unbearable to any and all lifeforms. The second and third are fully capable and have an atmosphere almost exactly like the one on earth although their is an amount of Beta radiation on the Third planet which may be the reason for it having no life. The fourth planet has no atmosphere but a very dense middle keeping all of the gas together to form somewhat of a planet. The fifth planet is covered in ice and has temperatures drop below -350 degrees.

RESOURCES - The fifth planet has vast amounts of Duranium along the southern pole area. Duranium, along with Tritanium, is often used in the manufacturing of starship hulls and bulkheads.

scan results from the shuttle showed the fifth planet to be inhospitable to the majority of known life forms. Temperatures that were constantly below zero and a mixture a gasses made it the ideal place not to set up a colony. If mining was to be done it would have to be from orbit. Sending people down to the ice world would have been to dangers. Massive spikes and ragged glaciers were the normal component of the terrain, with ragged fissures forming at seemingly random intervals. The ice sheets were also highly unstable and parts would collapse under their own weight. Any one sent down there could be buried alive, have their suit ripped open or fall in a gully or dozens of other dangers. Kalinin report would reflect this and he would push for an orbital mining station to be built to acquire the important mineral
the kesgraves scan results had also shown that the fourth planet was as uninviting as the fifth but in a whole different way . This planet didn’t even have any resources that could have been mines out. The gas giant, was a midrange gas type planet, which lacked the rings that like planets had in the sol system.
“ok let’s keep going in wards , helm take us to the next planet” Kalinin said looking up from the report. The science crews were having fun, as they had yet to exercise their specialties before.
“sir between the fourth and the third planets there is a asteroid belt , in orbit of the sun. They appear to be the trapped remains of comets and lack the metal qualities that would be usual for asteroids located in the system. Scan results show that they are only made oh of hydrogen,oxygen,nitrogen and trace amounts of sulphur.” Ash commented fro science. Kalinin nodded his replie.”Ok lets move on, and avoid them. There is nothing useful there.”

“how is it down there, commander” Kalinin asked leaning over ensign ash at science. A small away team had beamed down to the second planet in the system. All scans had shown that its was very hospitable to the majority of all humanoids . the planet had the majority of its land mass located in the southern hemisphere , with a few large islands being located in the north. The commanders party had been beamed down to the large contentment in the southern hemisphere near the equator.
“ not to shabby, if I say so myself. Weather is great. And the landscape is breath taking. We also may have found the ideal spot to place the colony if its approved. There’s a large flat hill forty click to the north of us. It located above the flood plain and has a river and forest located nearby.” you could hear the smile in the commander speech as he said this.
“what about predicators and the other flora and fauna ?”
“no problem there either sir. Nothing bigger then a tyrfox is located on this contentment. And the non of a the toxins the fauna or flora produce are lethal. though doctor steggles says there would cause a unsightly rash.”
“ ok commander , finish up your observations and report back to the ship when you are ready.
Kalinin contacted the other away team he had sent down getting back identical reports. The terrain of the planet seemed to consist of mainly grassland and forests, with a few tropical forests located at the equator. Non of the natural life there was a threat and efforts would be made so that the building a colony minimised the impacts on them.
once the crew was back on board they would head to the last planet before Kalinin communicated with DS12 and put a claim to the system

a cheer erupted around the bridge. they where the first crew in starfleet to claim a system in this sector of space for the federation. each and everyone one off them felt some mesure of pride in this. kalinin smiled, also cought up in moment.
"ok people. lets not to carried away. we are all still on duty. and this system is soon to be colonised. so lets give them a helping hand"

The kesgrave, re-entered the system, this time with the colony ships. Even after the colonists reached there new planet it would be a few more days before the colony would be considered operational. Kalinin had spent much of his time over the last few days, with the leader of the colony and a fellow bajoran,had full confidence in her ability to be able to face down any challenge the colony would face.

The colony had been completely finished and the colonists where now well on their way to making new lives for themselves. Crops had been planted and the first children that had arrived on the transport were attending school. Communications had been complete, allowing the planet to contact DS12 as well as any ships in the area. aneria meru had contacted him early in the day ,telling him that the engineering difficulties with the power systems had all been sorted out and that no more problems remained. The kegrave therefore no longer had a purpose in remaining in orbit anymore.

“Captains personal log. our time helping the Dava colony is now at a close. I must admit that this is by far the most enjoyable mission yet. Exploring new worlds and helping fellow federation citizens colonise them has proven to be a great moral uplift to the crew. We are now moving on to the second objective in the Chimain System. The construction of a mining station around the fifth planet. The ship is in route to the planet as we speak and engineering crews from the SCE should be arriving in a matter of days to begin the construction of the station.”
