Barazahi sighed. She'd just sent Mbura to be with her own children. She knew the cub wouldn't be any harm, she just wasn't sure about what Angu would think. She hadn't run it by him. She'd had no other choice, though! He was a cub, no family anywhere nearby, wandering about all alone, she couldn't just leave him. What would her mother think? Embamba didn't know yet, either.
Embamba... And her father, no longer together. She felt alright about it, oddly enough. Perhaps it hadn't come to hit her yet. Perhaps it had and she was already over it. Raza'd only learned the news today. One thing she did know- She needed to talk to Angu. She hadn't told him about the strange cub she'd adopted, she assumed he'd noticed. She padded outside the den and searched for that pink mane she knew so well.

As was usual for Angu, he had noticed nothing strange. He had little attention to spare any more, devoting most of it to his mate and children and what was left he applied to his patrols of the lands, determined to keep them safe. Poor Angusho simply didn't have enough concentration to process such changes without being told flat out.
One thing he had noticed though, was that his children were hardly children any more. They had grown up so fast, it was hard to believe that they could potentially have litters of their own now. He was finally beginning to feel like an old man. The fact that he was old enough to be his children's father was one thing, but Angu was even old enough to be RAZA'S father. In theory, he could be the grandfather of his first litter, based on age, and they themselves could have litters soon! The thought that he was old enough to be a great grandfather was stunning to him. Perhaps that was why he was so quiet lately. Even more than usual.
Age was catching up on the big brute.
His body began to ache after a long patrol, his bones stiff and painful for the first hours of the early morning when he woke. Angu was beginning to get quite old now. He was far past his prime, and the downhill seemed to be going faster than anticipated.
A flash of bright blue snapped him out of his midlife crisis moment, and he tried his best to smile as he padded toward his mate.
"Hello, Raza." He had been wanting to talk to her recently. For someone who rarely gave much thought to anything, he was extremely worried about getting old and, dare he say it, useless. "How is life treating you?"

Barazahi loped to her mate and buried her nose in his mane. It'd been a long time since they'd had some alone-time. She'd been busy with Mbura or one of the other cubs, he'd been off patrolling, and by the time night came around, they were both tired. He was home... "early" today.
She took a few more moments to revel in the moment, purring all the while before she started. "Angusho, I want to discuss Mbura," she said in an oddly business-like fashion. "You know, the black cub we've taken in. I've got to take him to see Warithi soon, but I'm not sure how he'll agree. What if he decides to kick the boy out into the roguelands again!?" Oh, how awful. "And..." She couldn't bring herself to the other topic she needed to tell him. Instead, the blue lioness simply nuzzled up to him again. She needed comfort he had to offer.

Angu purred and nuzzled Raza. He missed having time alone with her, it seemed like such a long time ago that they had last had a good conversation. He wanted to talk to her about his concerns about getting old, but decided it could wait, at least for a little while.
Angu nodded, "Ah yes, Mbura." He said simply as he listened to Raza. "Don't worry, Raza. I'm sure that he will be accepted by the others just as he has by us." In fact, he wasn't entirely sure, but he felt it best to be comforting. The truth hurt sometimes.
"And what?" He asked curiously, taking note of her pause. He licked her gently as she nuzzled up against him, not wanting to press the matter any more than he had to. What ever it was, it was clearly upsetting Raza very much.

Barazahi nodded, she was sure he'd be accepted too. She was worried, though, about what she'd do if he wasn't accepted. She couldn't bear putting a helpless cub (though he'd recently gone through a growth spurt) into the wide roguelands for anything to happen to him. Besides, he believed their religion, he wanted to rid himself of the darkness within, how could her pride not accept the boy? Angu was right, he'd be fine.
Onto the next pressing issue, now that she felt fine about Mbura.
"My parents... They, uh..." The words had a hard time coming, she couldn't imagine what this had been like for her mother. "Mom and dad are... splitting up. Well, they've already split up," Her voice came in a rush, water from behind the dam. Her voice cracked occasionally as she continued. "Mom said dad didn't know who she was anymore, it had been like he never truly knew her, and now they're not together and there's nothing I can do," She paused for a deep breath. "My parent's aren't together," she repeated blankly. She'd been so wiped of emotion today, the last bit had absolutely no inflection behind it. "She told me today..." Barazahi buried her muzzle into her mate's mane, happy for the comfort.

Angu paused. The news hit him like a ton of bricks, stunning him. Embamba and Ndege had split up? Was that even possible? He had protected him for as long as he could remember, and never once had they seemed to even consider the possibility.
"It is their choice." His voice was slightly shaky, though he tried to keep it steady. "It is a hard blow, though it is not our place to try to stop it."
He sighed, and nuzzled Raza gently as he tried to think of how to comfort her. Such a sudden split of the parents must have been horrid for her, and yet he found himself in need of comfort as well. It didn't seem possible that his lord and lady, whom he had always seen as the perfect pair, would simply split apart like that with no warning.
