The Tactics training room is one of the most state-of-the-art training facilities in the world. At 8,000 square feet, it is located in the basement of Tactician's Tower, its size far exceeding the rest of the Tower. The large size allows for freedom of movement in battle situations, giving the feel of an actual battlefield environment. The room creates hard-light projections that can do physical damage to combatants inside the room. The intelligence and power levels of the computerized opponents vary based on the difficulty setting in the control room. In all difficulty settings, the computer offers mistakes and ways to improve.

Blue Level: The opponents aren't too bright, and their weapons/attacks only leave a stinging sensation. The entire scenario would be non-lethal, and serves as a warm-up for the more experienced hero.

Green Level: The opponents are stronger and smarter, and they have a slight increase in speed and reaction time from the blue level. Their weapons and attacks could leave burns, but no permanent damage can be done at this level.

Yellow Level: The medium setting in the training room, this level could leave some scars on the unsuspecting hero. This level is closest to the actual ability of gangs, street thugs, and sometimes, crime lords with no superpowers. The hero who engages in this level should be wary of being outnumbered with several projectile weapons, such as rifles, guns, and occasionally the laser blaster. This level also introduces a stealth mode where the hero must sneak around and gather intel, as in a real crimebusting simulation.

Orange Level: The orange level is nothing to sneeze at. It is the most powerful free-loaded setting, and can cause hospitalization to anyone who isn't paying attention. The weapons are realistic and powerful, and can do permanent and painful damage to those participating. This level also introduces the WarSim function, where heroes have to be wary of attacking teammates as they engage multiple enemies in a massive battlefield scenario.

Red Line Simulation: The mother lode of all training simulation levels. This level is deadly, and could easily kill anyone who isn't equipped to handle it. This is the only simulation that is prohibited; only council members are authorized access to this level of training. The weapons pierce armor, massive explosions take out enemies, and supervillain energy attacks abound. Only on this level is Positron an available adversary.

“Forty-five seconds until boot. Please be patient, War-shadow.” The sound of her voice became slightly more faint as if she had gotten up from the central input and moved somewhere else in the room. “I’d rather do this right the first time.”

At that, her hand was diving into some corner of the towering central processing unit. With a triumphant one of those ‘ha’s!’ Warshadow had heard before, she electrically unscrewed a set of bolts and pulled the wire connected to them off. Closing up the unit, she returned to the screen where a script was running through a long line of jarbled code and turned off the microphone.

It reached the end of the line, and apparently was satisfactory to Thea’s current standards as she quickly closed out of the interface thus and executed whatever she had been working on. The hardlights in the room glitched and froze, flickered, and finally faded. The door to the hall unsealed and then automatically opened. In the control room, Thea was still sitting at the console, though the strangest thing yielded that one of her arms was completely pulled off and lying across counter space, the now one-armed robot fiddling with the wires at the elbow.

Slight couldn't hold the barrier or the panther anymore and so they unwove like cheap fabrick. She weakly got to her feet clinging to the wall for support, she had used a lot of energy in maintaining the barrier and the panther. It was dark something must have broken the lights "Warshadow?"she called into the darkness "are you ok?"she said tensely hoping he was ok but fearing for the worse "Answer me please!!"she yelled into the silence. Tears welled up into her eyes as the silence dragged on, she sat down against the wall and started to cry huge heartbreaking sobs. She was crying out all of her pent up emotions, all her failures, pain, and sorrow.

He chuckled deeply as the backup lights slowly came on. He stood alone in the center of the simulation room, looking up at the control booth window with a slight smile on his face. He looked exhausted, like he was barely standing on his own feet as Lokin leaned up against him, allowing him to lean on the dire shadow wolf for support.

"Thea...good job...good job...damn good job."

He slowly slumped down into a sitting position, his head back as he closed his eyes. Lokin whimpered softly, lying down beside him and resting his massive head in the warrior's lap. At the same time, Talrin moved toward Slight, her large head rubbing against her softly, trying to get her to stand up. Hearing her, even though Lokin's large body obscured his view, he called out to her.

"Slight! You ok over there? Any damage?"

Before she responded, he murmured softly to himself.

"God damn...I need a drink."

Slight felt something soft rubbing against her urgently. She looked up to see one of Warshadows wolves and her heart lifted, then seconds later Warshadow asked if she was allright "I'm good"She hiccuped. It wasn't easy to go from crying to talking but she'd manage. Looking into the semi-darkness she could see Warshadow or at least his out line "I..."she stumbeled over to him and gave him a hug "Don't die ok?"she looked up at him "It wouldn't be fair". She knew what she was saying was odd and that caused her to let go, she sighed she had probably just freaked him out.

Seeing, with a bit of peevishness it seemed, that neither of the heroes had as of yet left the room that had so recently been their prison, she leaned over the body part strewn across the desk to turn the control room microphone on. Her now cool and collected mechanical voice came through, saying, “Attention all carbon life forms; please evacuate the simulation room immediately.”

Running a hand over her bald head, she watched distractedly as a computer printout came whizzing into the tray not two feet from her. She quickly signed it, stood up, and moved, one-armed, to the door of the training room, leaning back on the open doorframe with a, ‘well, you haven’t got all day’ look plain on her mechanical features.

He chuckled softly when she hugged him, though it was drawn out into a groan at the pressure. Damn...might have broken a rib and not even noticed. Though...he couldnt help but feel a little better when she hugged him...maybe that was just the adrenaline wearing off. When Thea called down to them, he looked at Slight with a pained smile on his face.

"Well...you have to love how personal and friendly she is."

Lokin stuck his head under his arm, lifting him up into a standing position.

"Ow ow ow...alright Thea, alright, were going...like I said...good work...do me a favor, make sure that no one...and I mean no one...comes into this room until it's had a complete overhaul on all the computer safety systems and backup measures. If you need me...I'll be in my office."

Looking back, he nodded for Slight to follow him, and Talrin emphasised the point by nudging her in the back with her nose once more. Warshadow walked forward until he reached Thea. He paused, looking at her with a
curious expression on his face...and with a little confusion.

"Thea....why are you missing an arm?"

Katran ran into the training room too late to do anything. She was out of breath and her face was still red from weeping but she was unaware of her appearance as she looked from face to face with frantic curiosity. Still gasping for breath she asked, "Is all well?" as she noticed that they each looked like they just walked out of a war that they had lost. She noticed Thea's missing arm and gasped.

At Warshadow’s request that no one enter the simulation room until further testing was done, she held up the printout that clearly read, “Simulation room temporarily out of service, by order of Warshadow,” in large letters. Apparently even had he not requested it, it would have been done.

As he neared her and seemed almost shocked that she was missing her arm she raised one mechanical eyebrow and replied, “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.” That really didn’t seem like much of an answer, but the quirk to her lips betrayed a secret amusement at saying things like that to people, just to confuse the hell out of them.

As the two heroes exited the room, Thea moved to the keypad, closed the door, and placed the sign up on it. “Actually, War-shadow, you will be coming with me for a moment, and then you will be speaking with the Katran, for she holds the answers that you seek.” She paused for a moment as Katran came running into the area, and then her white plastic paneling glowed that L.E.D. red in her cheeks and neck as she realized how awfully rude that sounded and amended, seeming to speak to them both, “Please.” At Katran's gasping, the robotic woman held up the one hand she had as if to say that she should stop worrying. "The damage is not irreversible, I think. Only a few broken ribs and some trauma. Please come with me to the control room. There is no use wasting time, now that you are both here."

Her head then shifted, then, towards the girl being nudged by the large, shadowy creature that seemed to make the gynoid exceptionally paranoid. However, she pushed it aside as she addressed the recently crying hero, “You are the Slight. I am,” she paused for a moment if trying to phrase what she wanted to say correctly, “humbled by your spirit. It is my pleasure,” and then extended the one hand she had at the moment to the other female.

Slight smiled up at Warshadow and then turned her attention to Thea "Thank you....and thank you"she said taking Thea's hand and smiling warmly. She hadn't been expecting Thea to say something like that "If you hadn't cut the sim things could have been much worse, I'm sorry to have caused you so much trouble"she said sheepishly "You know I bet Archive could fix your arm...him having the Stratigist in his head and all"she said gesturing to the stump of her missing arm

“This?” She laughed demurely at everyone’s concern for her well-being. In theory she understood that most people couldn’t just pop their arms off, but they seemed to be looking over the fact that she was a robot – as in she had parts, like limbs, that were removable. “It’s just in the control room – the soldering in it had to cool before I reattach it.”

At once she turned back towards said room, assuming the rest would follow. For the robot having recently ripped apart quite a bit of the hardware in the room, it looked pristine except, of course, for the robotic arm lying lifeless to the left of the keyboard, and thank God not twitching. It seemed that parts removed from her complete circuitry were just that- parts. That simple statement could cause one to wonder, though, just how many parts could be removed before what really made Thea alive disappeared.

“Whoever programmed this was in ways a genius, and in others an idiot.” She sat down in the main chair for the console and took a good look at some open compartment just above the elbow joint. Apparently satisfied, she pushed the limb back in place and twisted it until it made a clicking sound. She wiggled her fingers experimentally and then pulled the now fixed USB cord from that same point she had earlier cut it. Plugging herself in, coding out the wazoo flashed up on the screen, and then faster than the human eye could read, it was gone. However, this seemed to be a passive task as Thea turned to Katran and Warshadow, expectantly waiting for the conversation that the new league commander so craved.

Throught this exchange between the two of them, and the subsequent little speech from Thea, Warshadow had limped into the room, still supported by Lokin who actually seemed to shift and change in size as they went through the doorway in order to accompany him. Hobbling over to a chair with as much dignity as he could still manage despite his injuries, he slowly sat down, then proceeded to pet the now smaller head of Lokin, who sat faithfully beside him. When Thea turned toward him, he still looked confused, as though he wasnt sure exactly what she meant. However, he had a glimmer, and that was enough to get him going.

"Alright...lets see...Thea, when last we spoke, you had brought up something about Tim not being dead, and then you lead me toward his office, while saying that Katran had the answers I sought. So...Katran. What can you tell me about Timothy? If you know...where is the Strategiest?"

Katran stood by the door, feeling too tense to sit down. Her pain was just as great as ever, but she kept it to herself as her face seemed to be made of stone when she spoke. "I do not know where he is at this moment. I only know where he was during that time after the battle when he disappeared." Her voice began to tremble at the last part of her statement as she recalled Strat's injuries and his helpless state at the time she found him. He was her family and this was tearing her up inside. She tried desperately to gain control of her voice again before she tried to speak. She cleared her throat and tried again. "I...I went back to the battle scene to try to find anything that would give me a clue as to his whereabouts. As I was searching the area, I saw Positron in the distance doing the same, so I stayed out of sight and watched him. It was Positron who found the portal." She shook her head in confusion and her brow furrowed. "It was a rift of some sort. He had found it with a device he had in his hand. I heard him mumbling something about Strat as he entered the rift and disappeared. I followed him quickly before it closed, and that is where I found Strat. He was injured and his systems were down. The only defense he had was in his manual devices." A lump formed in her throat again and she tried to speak over it. "I...was unable to ascertain the extent of his injuries..." her voice rose slightly in pitch. "I almost had him! I almost was able to save him..." She shook her head. "I fought Positron but I do not remember what happened after that. I was pulled from the battle and separated from Strat...separated..." her voice trailed off as she stared blankly in front of her.

Slight walked over to Katran and hugged her "You did you best and that's all anyone could ask of you"she said kindly as she smiled up at the older hero "You can't beat yourself up..."she said in the same caring tone "it doesn't help any"she added under her breath

He sighed softly, leaning back in his chair as he processed this new information. So...Tim was still alive and apparently stuck in another dimension. With a new sense of urgency he suddenly stood up, the gut wrenching pain in his side suddenly forgotten.

"Lokin! Talrin! Ikkei!" ((Ikkei=Go))

The two Wolf Lords nodded in recognition of the order, leaping away through a shadow gate that opened in the control room. Nodding, he sat down as he addressed the rest of the assembled groups.

"They will gather the other two Wolf Lords and the pack Leader, The Great Wolf. They will search through every dimension they can. If they can find him...they will definately bring him back."
