Jan... Didn't really shop. No real need to do so. She had enough clothing, enough stuff, and Neme generally did the food shopping. Still, her older sister had gone out of town, and it'd been two weeks. Jan sometimes... Well, she was focused on other things than what was in the house and what wasn't. And now there wasn't much food at all.
So here she was. At the grocery store? Hell no. Jan was at an open air, farmer's market! The sun was out, she was in a tank-top, shorts, and flip-flops, and in a generally good mood. Although, she was a bit lost. She generally grew her own stuff.

"These peaches smell delicious," said Lorelei as she spoke to one of the farmers. She was a plump, old lady with a kind smile. She was a little bewildered by Lorelei's outfit, a long stola with a plain necklace adorning her neck. A sheer scarf draped over her head gave her an elegant look, and indeed... she did look out of place.
"I think I'll buy two of them," the duck Sin'aeis nodded as she dug in her stola for her allowance, "They'd be perfect for some ambrosia... or maybe a pie."
She paid for the peaches and took the paper bag that the farmer handed her. Inside were the two peaches, and a freebie of sorts-- a Granny Smith apple as beautiful and green as they came. Lorelei beamed at the farmer and gave her a wave before moving to the next cart of produce.

Naturally, Jan didn't recognize Lorelei. Or, not from afar, she'd have to see those little duckie feet first. Instead, the 6'1" teen stood out, herself as she stood stalk-still in the middle of the market, a distant look in her brown eyes as she thought about what she might need. Fruit? Well, the peach that had been in the bowl looked like it was becoming a mammal, so, yes. Maybe some vegetables for stir-fry.
Jan was kind of hungry.

As Lorelei turned away from the vegetable cart, she noticed the familiar sandy hair and freckled face. As a smile spread over her face, she started to make her way towards the potato Sin'aeis. There weren't many people at the farmer's market, so it didn't take long for her to come over.
"Jan!" she called out, her ducky feet breaking into a run, "Jan!"

Jan turned, casually, her dark brown eyes showing a hint of interest until... They lit up. Green hair... Duck feet... Lorelei. That charming grin appeared on the tall blonde's face as she watched Lore run. Have you ever seen someone with duck feet run? It'd make you smile, too.
"Lorelei. 'Ow nice o'ya t'join me!" Her voice was warm, and she turned completely, to await the girl's approach. Lore looked... Damn good. She must've grown somewhat recently? It'd been a while, though. "Ow're ya?"

The flip-flop of her feet continued until she was right in front of the taller Sin.
"I'm glad that you recognized me!" she smiled, her dimples cute, "I just got back from Greece."
She tilted her head, "I should've been there longer, but... things happened."
She did a little twirl to demonstrate, almost tripping over her own feet. Her gaze turned, well, dazed as she looked back up.
"See... I don't have Ilo with me anymore."
She suddenly brightened up.
"So! Are you here shopping? I should've known you'd only like organic stuff. It tastes better..."

"O'course I recognize ya... Greece? Well, I'll be! Welcome back, miss!" A pause, as she listened to the red of the girl's story, seeming to pick up on a few things, wordlessly. Jan let her gaze run over Lore's body, noticing some of the 'things' that had happened, and her grin grew. She hadn't smiled this much in a while.
"I neva liked Ilo, much. Y'still got other friends, mmn?" Another pause, and Jan rubbed at her new short hair, messing up the pale strands. About the organics? Oh, yes. Jan grew a lot, but not everything. "Mmmhmm, I'm 'bout outta food, though. I was gettin' a few things for lunch. Y'wanna eat with me, mayhap?"

A slight hue stained Lorelei's cheeks as Jan offered lunch.
"I'd love to!" she chirped, "I could help cook and everything... I... already have dessert..." She held out the bag.
"There are peaches in here, and an apple," she explained, "The apple... looks a lot like Ilo. I want to slice it up myself."
She fingered the green-tinted golden shard around her neck, "Sorry I keep on mentioning him, it's just a little hard to get used to..." She trailed off as she noticed some of the strands of Jan's hair floating in the light breeze. They were so light that they looked almost fluffy, almost like particles of dust glowing in the sunlight.
"I... your hair, Jan... it looks great!"

Jan blinked in surprise. People didn't generally mention her physical appearance, other than the tall part, except for Ancelin, who really just stared. Her smile faltered a little, before renewing its previous strength, and she held out an arm to the other girl. "Thank ya! Y'look migh'y pretty, yourself." Like, really pretty.
Glancing around, Jan's grin became rueful, and she blew her hair from her eyes. "'Course, I don' really know my way 'round this marketplace. 'N I'm more o' a grower than a chef, so... Any ideas on what we shoul' purchase?"

Lorelei gingerly took Jan's arm. She could feel the woman's strength in her lean form-- it came from being a chef, after all.
"Thanks, Jan," she mused, her voice still sounding a little dazy. She smiled blissfully and looked at the stands, "Well, what are you in the mood for? Different dishes have different ingredients."
Her stomach growled a little bit, "I'm in the mood for something with carrots... carrots and broccoli!" She rubbed her stomach slightly, the smooth fabric making a slight rustling sound.
"I love my veggies... especially the green ones!"
She reached up and poked her cowlick, "I love green things, you know~"

"Tha' sounds good t'me." Jan was a vegetarian, after all. "Mayhap a salad with pasta?" She was thinking the broccoli in some alfredo, and the carrots for the salad, naturally. The tall blonde nodded at Lore's comment. Her cowlick was adorable. Steering them to a stall that had several types of vegetables, they found both carrots and the broccoli, to which Jan added some various types of lettuce and spinach, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
She also happened to enjoy goat cheese and sunflower seeds in her salad, but she had that at home already. "... Alfredo good with ya?"

"Alfredo's fine with me!" said Lorelei as she admired a large green pepper. She wasn't lying about enjoying green things, after all, "Especially if it's spinach alfredo." She smiled, a hint of childhood daze flecking in her dimples. She leaned on Jan's arm a bit, glad to be at least a little bit closer to her friend's height.
"Anything else you need while we're here? If you want we can drop by my place to pick up some condiments and ingredients to make ambrosia," she shrugged.

"Spinach? Alrigh' with me. I've neva 'ad ambrosia, tha' sounds good." Jan grinned, nodding her head in response to the additional ingredients question. She'd never noticed Lorelei's dimples before. The girl stopped at another stall, grabbing one large, juicy, ripe, colorful, delicious smelling mango, and purchased it.
Lore was weird, but she wasn't Ancelin weird.
The two girls left the market, heading for Lore's home.
