I don't mind rap, but I hate RETARDED rap like Souljah Boy or whatever, that just kills it.

Kids who think 'rap has no emotion, it's retards attempting poetry, and sounds all the same'. Ironically, the kids who say that almost always listen to s**t. confused

I prefer to listen old skool rap. In my opinion rap during mid 80s thru mid 90s was all about creativity. But lately ignorant kids and teens can't handle lyrics. And most rap songs have beat that are ripped from other songs.

i not a fan of rap but i do like a lil bit of 50 cent, eazy-e, and tupac but also teres a cool vid of denny 'blaze' hazen on youtub doing his rap demo...(it was made in the 80's)

I would agree that most artists today that are mainstream are horrible. Mainstream rap never really was predominately good, but if you look past the television and popular radio, you will actually find rap that's abstract and much better than anything Tupac made.

I think the last post you made about the mainstream rap sort of explains it. It's just everything that mainstream portrays sort of turns people off from Rap as a genre entirely. Decent rap is somewhat harder to find, the only artist that I actually have heard more than a handful of songs by is Immortal Technique. He's really great.

Most people who hate rap have only been exposed to the awful mainstream stuff. I used to despise it, but now I'm a huge fan of stuff like Handsome Boy Modeling School and MF Doom. There are a small handful of rap groups that are getting mainstream attention that are actually good, like OutKast or The Beastie Boys.

MF Doom is brilliant. Anyone who can do a full album rapping about cartoons has to be the perfectly unhinged mixture of crazy and classy that the music scene needs.
I do like the staples of the beginning though, Public Enemy, NWA, but over everything I prefer Wu Tang. If you listen to the albums in chronological order you can just hear the RZA getting better and better at mixing tracks, the sound really evolves by leaps and bounds.

Well, underground rap isn't too bad, but I absolutely hate mainstream rap. It's degrading to women and too much into the appeal of seeing people that would make a normal person squirm at such intimacy and exposure. But, as I said, underground rap isn't too bad, it's just the mainstream that totally ruins my day!
