A small kit made his way down to the water edge. His orange spots looked very odd on his purple-blue fur. He had no care in the world. He heard from his mother that he had a huge family, and that all three of his grandpas where mean and such. Though, he never really got to meet any of them. He knew two of them had spots like him. Where else would he have gotten it? And the other was some stupid god that he'd never meet.

To him, he was above all of them. In fact, he'd show them some day that he was better then them. Not in strength or looks, but in other aspects. He'd become a god himself, and rule over the other god and his spotted grandfathers. He had tiny horns in which he got from his dad. His sisters all had spots as well, except one who looked really odd. He didn't even talk to her.

He was happy that he was the only one out of his siblings that got the horns. At least he could beat them up this way. Though, he didn't get his mother's lovely tail. He wanted to sigh, but didn't. He could beat her up later. Jealousy was one of the first things he felt when he saw ulaya's that had something he thought was good. Just the other day, he saw someone with wings... WINGS! He stopped lapping up water and wiped his face. Taking a look around, he really didn't see anything of interest.

Dubhán had been resting by the river for quite some time. He had been up most of the night hunting for the pack, and although he throughoutly enjoyed his job, he at times needed a break from being around the other ulayas in the pack. If he didn't take his occasional breaks, he didn't think he would be able to stay in the pack without hurting one of the less strong members. Although the God didn't seem to mind petty fights every now and then, he doubted he'd be popular if he killed another packmember.

Lying in the shade of a big tree, his dark coat made him almost invisible, and he liked it like that. None of the ulayas that had passed by so far had noticed him, and that was the way he wanted it right now. Any other day he would have enjoyed a confrontation, but today he simply wanted to rest. The run in he had recently had with the ulaya that was evidently his daughter had left him with a lot on his mind.

Perhaps that was why he didn't immidiately notice the oddly colored kit that had made its way down to the river.

"I'm the best! I could take on anyone!" He said as he started to dig at the ground. It wasn't what he wanted to do, but it gave him something to do for the moment. Plus, he thought it was sharping his claws. "No one can beat me!" he was singing his own theme song.

If his claws didn't work, he'd just ram them with his horns. Small that they were, but they could still do some damage. He didn't notice that someone was watching him, but he felt like someone was. He looked around again, stopping what he was doing. Didn't see anything and went back into it. "I'll make a trap to catch something, and then kill it!" he continued to sing badly. It wasn't that he wasn't trying, it was that he sucked completely when it came to singing. In fact, if he knew someone was watching him, he wouldn't have started to sing.

At a rather obnoxious voice made its way to Dubhán's ears, his head snapped up immidiately, and he quickly located the purple kit at the riverside. It wasn't exactly hard; considering the way the orange and purple contrasted awfully with the brown and greenish color of the earth.

He didn't have to strain his ears to hear what the kit was saying - or rather; singing. He was wondering if the kit was maybe just a tad bit delusional, talking to himself like that. Maybe just some childish idea of an "Invisible friend" or some rubbish like that.

He couldn't help it. The little kit was so scrawny and small, and it was insisting on being the best. He had noticed the kit looking around as if knowing that something was observing him, yet as it looked straight at him, it didn't see him at all! He laughed out loud, a rather amused laugh on the kit's behalf. It was gruff and malice filled as usual. Idiot kit.

All Cheeto could really hear was his claws in the dirt. He continued to try to set his trap, and when he thought it was deep enough he hopped out and wondered away from it for a moment or two. Looking for some sticks that might be long enough to go across it. Finding two or three he figured that would be enough. Then walked back to the whole and put it down.

The next step was to find some leaves and other stuff. He thought a moment then saw the tree not too far from here. He started towards it, not even noticing the male that was in there. Of course, he didn't think anyone was around, so he was sure that no one was there at all and didn't have to look.

To say that Dubhán was amazed was an understatement. How could this little kit, so certain of his own self-worth, be so oblivious to his surroundings. He had completely missed Dubhán's rather loud laugh, even though they were barely 10 meters apart! He watched in speechless amusement as the kit obviously tried to build some sort of a trap, although it was looking slightly half-done.

Even when the kit looked right at Dubhán, he still went by unnoticed. Dubhán shook his head slightly at the foolish kit, before deciding that he would play some tricks. Getting up slowly, he slunk away from his previous resting spot and noiselessly jumped up in a tree. As soon as the kit was near enough, he flew out of the tree and snarled viciously at the kit "Where do you think you're going, punk!?"

Cheeto almost crapped himself as the other just jumped out like that. Then when he saw that it was just another Ulaya he snorted as if nothing happened. "None of your business!" he growled. His fur was still fluffed up a bit from the other's scaring. He glared at the other as if he wasn't afraid of him. "I don't need your permission!"

Dubhán saw the initial fear in the little kits eyes, and almost snickered, but kept his selfcontrol. "You're about to enter my territory, punk... I can't let you do that" his claws were slowly coming out, and no matter how brave the kit was trying to be, Dubhán knew that any sane ulaya would be slightly scared of his claws.

besides, there was some truth behind his words. This was HIS territory at the moment, and he wasn't about to give up his little oasis of peace up for some little ugly colored kit!

His territory? HA! Cheeto almost broke into a laugh at what the male said, not really knowing it was probably a very bad mistake. "I'm sure it is, that's why I could smell you all over the place. " He said sarcastically. Though, it wasn't like he was good at that stuff yet, but his grandfather was teaching him. Said something about him being promising unlike his aunts and uncles and his siblings. Whatever that meant.

Dubhán raised a black eyebrow. He wasn't sure if the kit was too brave for its own good, or simply too stupid. He shook himself mentally. This wasn't natural for a kit. It wasn't natural kit behavior. Somebody had been teaching him.

It would be interesting to see how long the kit could hold this up. How well it had been taught. For that, he wouldn't kill the purple male. Just yet, anyways.

He sneered slightly and was about to scare the kit off, when a thought struck him. Leopard spots. Much like his own. How many ulayas did he know that had that? And with that attitude? Hadn't his dear brother at one point mentioned having kits? No, it couldn't be. Where would the horns come from?

"And if you could smell me, why are you here?" he finally drawled "Why were you surprised and piss scared of my appearance? Do you think I'm not aware of you being scared? You reek weakness, punk"

How stupid was this adult, didn't he see that he was just making fun of him. "I was being sarcastic." He said. That's what his father called his grandpa all the time. He glared up at the adult as he called him weak! How dare he! He puffed up his fur to make him look bigger, but of course that didn't work too well. "I couldn't be afraid of you even in your dreams!" He spat out. Arrogance was one thing that was huge in his family. He didn't even really notice the spots on the other, since they were so dark. Though, he saw the other's long tail that looked familiar, but said nothing.

"You couldn't scare a fly!" He kept egging on an attack, but he really wasn't taught not to do that. Even though his father hated fighting, His grandpa loved it. So it confused him on who to listen to and decided to switch it off every once in awhile.

Dubhán simply ignored the kits attempt at being cold and hard. It wasn't as if he would let himself get aggravated by a tiny punk's huffing words. He narrowed his eyes and cocked his head slightly, silently taking in the kits full appearance.

"Who has been teaching you?" He finally asked, completely brushing the kit off "somebody has been trying to teach you how to act buff... you're not acting like a normal kit" he concluded.

Cheeto was very drawn back, and upset at the other for asking something like that. Why didn't adults think that they could learn this stuff on their own. Though the adult male was right. He frowned and glared even harder at the other. "What's it to you?!" he spat at first, then a smirk came upon his face. "Thona, the greatest of all." Perhaps that'd scare the male off. His grandpa had said he had some type of reputation. Though, he told him to never say his name, and it took a long time to even figure it out. He heard it from his mother. He puffed up a bit and flicked his fluffed tail.
