I've heard the dog can get grumpy and bite my child, or eat the chickens if they're not in the field (but I usually have them in the field). I don't want that but... how do I train the dog? In the instructions, it says I can use the c-button. C-button does nothing! I can't pet my dog either (the heart, you know). I lift it up for a second when it wants attention. Is that good or bad?
What should I feed the dog?

First of all, I have never had to protect my chickens or child from the farm dog. xP It's untrue that the dog would attack anyone, except maybe (crosses fingers) Rock when he taunts it. (nah, I'm kidding)
I usually feed my dog once a day any mushrooms and herbs that I pick up.
Picking the dog up once a day is also sufficient in gaining its affection.

What version of AWL and on which console are you playing? (by knowing this, I could tell you how to train the dog.)

The one on Game Cube. A Wonderful Life, not the Another one.

Thank you for your help! smile

I got confused because if I hold my dog too long it gets grumpy... But I do pick it often anyway, for just a second. It likes me now, and runs after me, but I'm still worried it might get unhappy.
So, it doesn't really have taste? It can eat any food and still be happy?

Yeah, the dog does tend to become annoyed if held for too long. By treating the dog as I have mentioned, its affection for me is the highest possible (all hearts are filled). The dog may have taste. I haven't tried feeding him a failed dish, but he does like the various edible findings that I set into his bowl (eats them with a heart above his head, and I've fed him every single mushroom and herb I've encountered).

I think dog training is a feature in AnotherWL, not AWL. (Only owns AnotherWL, so isn't sure.) Though, if they both contain this ability then the way is most likely the same.
To train the dog, press Y. The clock will then stop and you should be able to choose different commands labeled on the buttons in the right-hand corner, and you can exit by pressing B. (but, as I mentioned, I've only played AnotherWL, so I don't know the differences.)

I guess they got confused when making two different manuals.
As far as I know, you can't see hearts anywhere in A Wonderful Life, just the one in the speech bubble when the dog eats.

Thank you for your help :3

Well, in AnotherWL there are hearts used for ranking affection in the assets journal on the night stand next to the bed. That's what I was referring to when I said my dog has all hearts filled.

And, it's absolutely no problem. 3nodding
