Silently, the flame tribal followed her "master". He had asked the pride if any wanted to follow him on a walk - only Diera accompanied the Dark Prince. Her tail waved as she followed beside him, at his request. She stood tall and proud, her ears alert, though her eyes seemed glazed and unknowing. Diera asked nothing, unless he spoke.

From time to time, Aveshar's silver gaze slid to the side, glowing orbs fixed upon the fiery female who paced beside him so calmly. Of the group, only Diera had volunteered to accompany him... She had gone out and hunted, warmed the meat in an effort to make it more interesting...
"Of the pride, you are the one who is most careful, Diera..." He rumbled. "You follow and obey, but there is a quiet strength in you... You are careful not to offend, but offer a particular challenge..."
He stopped, looking at her searchingly. "In doing so, you intrigue me..."
'Which may, or may not, be a wise thing...'

She stopped when he did, her eyes looking into his, trying to keep her emotions within. "Always the way I have lived. I owe it to my father, he raised me. He had many females and expected them to obey. Most of the time they did not. I suppose I only followed this suite to make him happy." Her tail flicked as she looked away for a moment, flames gently scratching at her pelt. "I apologize then...if I appear to be the wrong way, but I'm not sorry for who I am, Lord Aveshar." She gazed up toward him for another moment, her eyes clearing up since the first time she was in the pride.

Leaning close to gather her scent into himself, Aveshar whispered against her cheek. "On the contrary.. I can fault nothing in how you carry yourself... You are gracious, helpful, useful, intelligent... But spirited, and you have your own mind... You do not rebel needlessly, but follow after judging the way in question to be correct..."
He withdrew, her scent -somewhat spicy, and more than a little fiery- clinging to his silver mane. "I say you intrigue me, because it is so... I have not had to truly fight with you to get you to obey me, but neither are you a mindless slave... You are a female of worth..."

"Thank you. I am not sure what else to say to such praises. I feel...extremely honored." Her ears flicked gently, her breath caught in her throat as he took in her scent. Diera dare not move, her body rigid. Only when he pulled back did she seem to regain control. Her flames, however, began to heat up and slightly rise reacting to her emotions. "I am glad you think so. Even if I wasn't a female such as you say, I could never leave. This is my home now...I feel like...I've found a calling that I can relate to."

Watching the flames burn, Aveshar arched a brow. Leaving? "I would not ask you, nor force you to leave, Diera... On the contrary, you please me.. I'd be more inclined to ask you to stay."
A cruel smile danced across his face. "Which you know, I would hardly ever say to anyone..."
Not that his request would be a 'request'... More of a demand... Politely -or not so politely- phrased, depending on the King's mood. He could sense when she tensed as he scented her, and his eyes blazed a little brighter. "Do you fear me, Diera?"

Diera chuckled. "True...besides, no one can leave. Once you enter, you cannot leave. So says Master Aveshar." Her flames slightly danced with amusement. At his question, she became serious."I shall be truthful," Her ears flicked in slight thought before she answered, flakes dancing at the motion. "you do scar me, Aveshar. Your Dark Song seems powerful...and nothing I have ever experienced. Yet, I am in awe by your grace and your dark prowess. Your authority is one to be respected, and you are in complete control of everything...that is something that I respect AND like." She smirked, her fangs slightly gleaming. Her eyes stared into his with a hint of mischief to them, tail waving slowly and lazily. "Does this answer please you, Master?"

Her sense of humor also went along with his tastes. Hearing her slightly dark laughter and watching the leaping flames, he tilted his head. The answer brought a rumble of pleasure from his chest, his eyes shining all the more.
"It does, My Lady..." He growled softly, nipping at her ear, sighing down her neck. "You fear me, you respect me... You admire me..."
He leaned forward, voice almost silent, words barely a breath. "But do you desire me?"

Shivers went down her spine from the touch. She didn't know that these types of reactions could resist within their realm. Her ears went back against her skull, eyelids closed. Diera listened to his words intently, but the last part, the question, slightly shocked her. She turned to face him, her eyes searching his carefully guarded ones. "Master Aveshar...do not all the females desire you? Why do you think they cling to you so? Why do you think most glare at others in that competitive gesture? Desired? Aveshar, I think it's safe to say that you are needed." She flicked her tail, noticing that she didn't answer his question directly.

Needed? Ah, but wasn't desire more than a faint 'needing'? A want so fierce and fiery that it drove one to distraction... An emotion that blocked out sanity, a tingling in one's form, an urge to obtain. Needed... One 'needed' a King for protection...
But a female 'desired' a male. "You avoid the question, Burning One..." He crooned, a smile lighting his eyes. "What do you desire? What do you want of this land? It has given you a home and a role, a pride and a position... But what else do you seek?"

"This land has been generous to me. Given me shelter, sustenance, a reason for my skills..." She trailed off, looking over to him. "What do I seek?" She repeated his question before thinking. Moments of silence passed between them before she answered quietly. "A home...a family..." Diera looked down, and for once in her left, felt very small, very weak, and very much like a fool for wanting those things.

His dark lips curled in a smile as she said 'generous' and not 'kind'.. Yes, indeed.. The land could be generous, but was not kind... Those who lurked in the field were meant to attack stragglers, hunt down those who ran... But any of the Pride, of power, were usually safe... Usually...
The answer she gave surprised him. A home? She had one... Family? His own had not been able to understand him, so he was a little vague on that concept... But were not the females in the pride to be like sisters? He watched her close down as she said those things, seeing her shame...
"A surprising answer." He replied truthfully. "Do you not see the pride as your home?"
To be truthful, this land was not anyone's 'home' but his... Yet... If he gave her a certain status... It would be her home too... A certain mark of distinction, as it were...
One no lioness had yet born the thought of... Silver eyes glittered, and white teeth flashed. She wanted a family, hmmmm?

"Oh!" She blinked a little at his question, that glazed look coming back to her eyes. "Yes, I consider this pride a..."family" I suppose. We're not close knit, and I think we're a bit too far to be called "sisters", but I think we are close enough." Her fangs slightly gleamed off the light of her flames as she looked over at the Dark Prince. "I'm terribly sorry if this concept confuses you. I don't even know myself..." She got up and padded off to the side slowly as if to think, head high and staring straight ahead, and not to the heavens. The skies never helped her before, why should she seek their guidance now? Her tail flicked in thought, flames crackling and curling.

"There is no need to apologize, Blazing One... I can understand perfectly well that you do not yet feel a 'bond' -for want of a better word- with your fellow pride members... In fact, if you had said you did, I'd be wondering why you try so hard..."
He laughed softly, strolling after her. "And being confused is no crime... Come, tell me your thoughts, and perhaps we can share council..."
