I'm best at remembering melodies. If I listen to something once, twice if it's really out there, I can have a working outline of its form, as well as its melodies and orchestration memorized. Comes in handy for explaining pieces to people; I can always hum them.

My forte is probably runs and sight-reading on my flute. I'm really good at fast runs, and my teacher says I'm a great sight-reader. I'm also really good at high notes, since I've played piccolo for a few years. But in general, I'm pretty average.
However, I think my most useful asset is my love for the music. I'm willing to work really hard because I love the music, and I push myself to do as much as I can and more. Music played by people who hate it always sounds flat and empty to me.

well i think that my tone quality is probably my best part right now. i just got a new flute and i've been working on vibrato. my first flute teacher said that i was a really good sight reader, but personally i think that i'm terrible. i also play the piano and on my test i did the best at melody hearing. i still did pretty bad but it was better than the rest of my test sweatdrop .

I can remember fingerings pretty decently, so when someone in my section forgot it I can remind them. Not terribly impressive, but I'll take what I can get.

I excel in my sound. I've gotten many compliments and I feel strong as a player. I also can excel in site reading most of the time. Crescendo/decrescendos are also a strong point in my playing. I'm good with dynamics...when I want to be.

I guess my major forte in band is that I have a great knowledge of music theory because of my piano background. Terms, general knowledge... you name it, I know it.
I'm also pretty great at sight reading, also because of my piano background

My forte would be knowing the fingerings of all the notes for the trumpet section so everyone just asks me now. I have also been told I can play fast very well so maybe that could be a forte as well biggrin

Hmm Well. I guess my forte would be knowing a melody after playing it maybe once or twice. I can usually memorize the most dominant part of music, and trumpets almost always have the melody. It's a rare occasion if we don't. *shrug*

Um, I guess my biggest forte is sightreading. I've always been one of the best at it in our band, and sometimes I do better sightreading than after practice because when I practice it I overthink it. >_> <_< (Or I'm sleep deprived that day, like today...about 4-5 hours of sleep didn't really help me from my usual 8-12, 12 hours being on weekends.)
Another is fingerings. I'm a BEAST at fingerings. cool But sax fingerings are easy, and the other saxophonist only has trouble with remembering key signatures, not fingerings. So no one really cares about that. xd
Oh, and I memorize music pretty well.

I can't sight read worth CRAP. But after I've heard the instructor or someone else lay out the melody (or whatever) I've got it done and can generally play it better than any one else. (I play by ear.) Especially our show, or holisinger pieces. I <3 holsinger.

Being able to recognize the melody of a piece after listening to it for a few seconds and then singing it. Also knowing every single fingering for euphonium and being able to hit the high notes when the other person in my section can't.

Adjusting to the band. If we're playing a longer note then I'm always able to firgure out where my pitch it and adjust it as best as I can(since...almost no one ever pays attention to that in my group Dx). I'm also good at figuring out how loud or soft I should play based on what I'm playing, how large my section is, and how everyone else is playing. I've always been in bands with poor sectioning so the written dynamics aren't usually what I need to play to make things sound right.
