I realized that we had a topic on Shojo Beat but not on it's counterpart Shonen Jump.
This grave error has been remedied.

Jump jump jump. I wonder why they call it Shounen Jump? The shounen makes sense but where did the jump come from?

I don't know where the jump comes in....maybe it's because of the high shelves at the book store?? I always knock things off those....

Lucky you...I'm relatively tall, like 5'5 or something like that...but the shelves are floor to ceiling and I always fall off the stepstools, so I jump. mrgreen

I noticed that the more generations there are in a family, the shorter people are (unless your a mix between two tall ethnicities). I know I'm only tall because of my Samoan blood (Great Grandpa on my father's side was about 7'8" and most of my cousins are at least 6'3". I'm about 6'2" so I'm considered short out of my dad's family cousins). I could have ended up half my height with my Filipino blood (all Flips are short. Can't deny it. If your Flip your short).
But back to Shounen Jump. Is it really worth subscribing to?

I say it is if you like the series that are in it. If you like only one part of it, you can just buy the manga for it.

I like the Japanese Shonen Jumps better than the American ones. The Japanese one is much thicker, and I can still read it.

I read mostly Shonen Jump manga. I like it the most, for some strange reason. Well, it's probably because most of my favourite manga are SJ. Like Whistle! and Naruto. Stuff like that.

Yeah, shonen jump has a lot of really great mangas, but sometimes I get a bit annoyed with it. (Mostly because their all the same story in different settings. "I want to be the best _________ ever! And I'm gonna kick butt, defy gravity, build a troop of offbeat but loyal side kicks through a series of startling cooincidences, and stuff my face with an impossible amount of ramen along the way!!! ehem....I think you know what I mean.)
It's probably just me growing out of SJ's target audience. sigh. cry

The only Shonen Jump manga I like is Rurouni Kenshin. All the other ones seem a little too immature for my taste.
