User ImageThe Grand Desert Much of the magic and legends of the SandPainters stems from the grand desert. Though vast and mostly desolate there is much treasure that can be found in the beauty of its canyons, buttes, and cliffs that lay within its boundaries. It’s the second largest area on the whole island and at its very heart lays the SandPainters Canyon. Many familiars can be found in this area. There are popular oasis areas around the buttes where Painters like to gather to relax.

There is a sense of majesty to the area that is thought to have given rise to the legend of the first SandPainter who was formed by fire and wind with the desert sand by the great volcano spirit.

User ImageThe SandPainter CanyonRidged, and wide, this canyon has seemed to have surpassed even the test of time. For as long as the painters have been living on this island the Canyon was their with its miles of underground tunnels and overhanging stone bridges has provided a safe haven and living quarters for even the greatest number of painters. There is a legend that the great volcano spirit herself split a mountain range in a fit of furry but in doing so created a home for the painters.

The canyon is marked with grand stone bridges, the largest of which is 80 miles across with many supporting stone pillars. The sides of the canyon and the bridges have been carved out into grand cities of granite. There are also dwellings carved into the massive and stalagmites/tites, and wall springs for a source of fresh water. The mouth of the canyon opened to the sea, allowing the Merdracs to inhabit the lower areas of the canyon

User ImageThe Scrub ForestThis is home to many of the Aviadracus. Much of their day time they spend roosting in the trees or training Dire Owls to be familiars. The scrub forest is the main habitat for the Dire Owl and houses many plants that are good for medicines and magic’s. Aviadracus harvest these plants and provide them to the rest of the painter communities. But other than that, its most just full of ordinary dry weather plants.

Many painters come to the Scrub forest to watch the sun rise. Every morning the plants and rocks of the area are covered in a fine dew that glimmers in a rainbow of colors with the rising sun lighting up the land in an amazing display.

User ImageThe Jungle of SleepDeep, dark and thick. Many mysteries surround this large area that covers over 2/3rds of the Island. For its size and the diversity of life, it’s called the jungle of sleep for how quiet it is in that dark tangle of trees and vines. It is said that a Tribe of Strange, gliding dragons resides in there that have a highly potent poison which could knock out even the strongest painter. Though.. No one has ever been able to claim they have seen these mysterious dragons. All those who have encountered them, or so they think, woke up on the border of the forest, unknowing on how they came to be there. Not many live in is area for that very reason. The only one who has been left alone is Kitxoone who runs a training camp near the border around Crater Lake. Perhaps he has an immunity to these strange occurrences. Those who train at his camp are hardly ever disturbed as well. Perhaps this mystery will be reveled in time.

User ImageThe Crater LakeThis Lake is all that remains of the volcano that originally formed the Island of Hal’ia. Now dead, it filled with sea water after a massive earthquake split the land in two forming the SandPainter canyon. Over time rains replaces the salt water creating a fresh water habitat. Many of the marine life that was swept into the lake, have slowly adapted to the change and a unique ecosystem was formed. One of the popular residents is the fresh water jellies that no longer have any poison in their tentacles. Their bright colors and bioluminescence light up this deep dark hole of water. If you are looking for a new exciting experience this haven of aquatic life it a top choice, with its underwater caverns and unique rock formations, it really is a sight to behold.

User ImageMerdrac Cove Above the land isn't a great place to view Merdracs, silly! But to jump out of the glowing clement skys and dive under water to the warm shallow coral coves of this biodiverse marine heaven. The oceans blue ribbons help emboss the rainbow of thousands of species of fish and a wide variety of rare Merdracs as well, a perfect time to go swimming in a peaceful environment. Soft rubbery sea sponges, algae, and all kinds of plants and seaworms powered with the many clans of fish help work together to make this beautiful aquatic city of colors. This peaceful cove is a great hot spot for fishing or just relaxing, who knows?

The Underwater Cliffs are part of the Sandpainter Cavern (used to be Hal’ia's massive cavern system before the earthquake thousands of years ago), which opens right out to the ocean. Life is abundant and strange. There are lots of underwater caves filled with airpockets. While fun to explore it is easy to get lost.

User ImageThe Western Island: Few dare to trend on this island. From a glance, one would think that this is mainly due to the lava flows hostile terrain. The raging earth with its almighty furry and anger clashes together and rises from the interior as impetuous burning molten lava. Anyone would fear such a tremendous sight, but local legends give other reasons for this strange feeling of power the land emits. It's hard to imagine anything could sustain life, only a fool would dare go beyond the land to reach the island. Although the size of the island is small compared to its father land, its rage of power seams to give it the sense a beating heart and supporting life that keeps the land alive.
