 Mapiya sighed softly, a peaceful smile on the end of her muzzle. She had woke up before the sun and went to the lake to watch the sunrise. Carefully tucking her legs under her as she laid down under a tree watching the sky beginning to lighten over the mountain ridge.
There was just something about sunrise that lightened her heart. There were always such promise to the start of a new day. She closed her eyes with another soft sigh of contentment. Yes...this was perfect.

A whisper of charcoal and snow in the early morning, Imrikalto wound his way through the trees with all the grace of his sire, blood-red dapples flashing. He had taken to wandering faarther and farther, eager to meet others, see new things...
At heart, Imri was content with his life, but he always wanted to see new sights and make new friends... A trait he jokingly blamed on his god-brother, but he enjoyed the results just the same.
"What to do today?" He wondered, stopping when the perfect view of the sunrise was available. He liked to watch the sun rise and set, particularly set, because most nights, Aureate performed an array of arial tricks amazing enough to make a sparrow jealous.
At this moment the black no doubt slept with his head tucked beneath one wing, but for Imri, it was not so.

The blue mare smiled as she heaved herself to her hooves, shaking out her black,gray, and silver mane. "Oh.." the faint noise of surprise slipped from from her as she blinked golden eyes at the strange stallion. "I.." She was clearly flustered and startled but she quickly cleared her throat and smiled.
"I'm sorry I didn't hear anyone come up. If you would be so kind as to give me a moment I will leave you in peace." She smiled flicking her tail to free it of any leaves that had clung.

Imri jumped about the same time the mare did, having been too preoccupied with the sky to even notice her presence at first. He bowed his head hastily.
"No no! Please! I'm sorry to have intruded, don't let me chase you away.. This was your place first, after all..."
He grinned as he glanced up through his forelock, deep grey eyes dancing. "Please forgive me Lady ???"
He trailed off, wanting to learn her name, to possibly make a new friend.

Mapiya's smile brightened at she relaxed "I am Mapiya and no this is not my place, I just happened upon this area when I was out walking. The cool morning air helps me to clear my mind, sir." Her ears perked forward with an easy smile. " A i would be glad of the company truth be told. I am new around here."

"Mapiya..." He echoed. "A lovely name, and well met... I am Imrikalto.. Imri to most, you may call me that if you like... I'm a bit of a wanderer, and I've been to this general area before... I'm glad to have stumbled across you... Perhaps I shall be the first to welcome you to this land..."
He bowed his head to touch his hooves with his muzzle, then straightened. Now that they'd had introductions, he was more relaxed, his tail swishing with a soft whisper, ears perked forward, and a smile on his face.

Mapiya laughed faintly flicking her ears "Well met indeed Imri and I thank you for your warm welcome. While you are not the first, it is still just as nice.I would love to be shown around if you have the time." She cocked her head to the side studying the stallion before her.

Imri grinned, shrugging. "While someone has beat me to welcoming you, I do so gladly... And if ever I can be of service to you, you have but to ask... I'm not the best of guides, but we'll never truly get 'lost'... And we'll have fun along the way!"
He wouldn't lie... Sometimes he got a little turned around.. But he always managed to find his way back to common ground... A bit of his luck, he suppossed...

A happy laught spilled from her as she smiled at him " You can never be lost...only learning a new way to get somewhere." Her gold eyes danced with excitement at the idea of new places to go, and new things to see.

Imri thought about that a moment, turning the words over in his head. With a laugh and a sparkle in his eyes, he nodded. "I like that! Wait until I tell mother and Dafina next time they start talking to me about getting lost! That will surely turn their heads!"
The best way to win an argument with mares was to use mare's logic... And in just a few moments of knowing her, Mapiya had given him a good dose of just that... He could probably use that way of thinking against his father, who he knew would not be able to argue...
Against mare's logic, no stallion was victorious..
He spun, turning toward the woods like the arrow of a compass. "Shall we explore?"

Mapiya laughed tossing her head again " I am yours to lead onward sir Imri!" She smiled happily trotting forward to his side, her tail swishing with excitement. There was still so much to see and so much to do!

"Then onward we go!" He laughed back, moving toward the treeline at a jaunty gait. Not quite sure where to go, he took the path that looked well, interesting, and moved along it.
"I wonder what we shall find?" He murmured to her, arching a brow. "A bear perhaps? Or a secret waterfall?"
He laughed. "My godbrother stumbled across a grumpy wolf as a foal, instead of eating him, she kind of adopted him, and they've been best friends ever since..."

"No! That was your brother?" Mapiya laughed in delight. "Nene lives with my two legger now!" Her nicker was amused as she trotted along beside him. " She talks about him all the time, it's the only time she is nice."

At this latest bit, Imri tossed his head back and laughed. What luck! This mare knew his godbrother's wolf... Wouldn't that be an interesting meeting. "We should all get together sometime..."
He winked. "The only time Aure is sensible is when he's recounting lessons or lectures from Nene... I think she has a sobering -and intelligent- effect on my feather-headed sibling... If we could promote such a state of being, I'm all for it."

Mapiya laughed in delight her golden eyes dancing with repressed mirth, " She tries to be cruel and heartless but when I look away from the young basket in our herd, I find her curled about it to keep the little one warm." She smiled amused shaking out her mane.
"Though it would be quite stupid to let her know that we know she has a heart. She seemed to pride herself on not caring for anyone or anything." That just seemed to amused the easy going mare more.
