The little dark colored kit walked around the dark forest. Her fire kept everything lit just a little. Poison thought the dark welcoming forest was a good enough home for her. Was this where she was left as a kit? It was quite a while since she remembered. After all, she was confused when she first decided to come out of that dreadful box she was cooped up in. No one was there, only her brother who was just as confused as she was.
The world did not seem the same. What more was there to expect? A welcoming family like all other kits had? Well, she wasn't as lucky and she wasn't like other kits in any way. Alone was one way to describe her situation. Her only company was her brother whenever he decided to come around. Poison didn't quite understand the feeling of happiness or love, all she had ever felt was anger or hatred. No parents to show her how to love, only a brother to look care for, though she didn't care for him that much. He was only another ulaya that was somehow related to her from unfortunate events.

Kuragari was curled up between the roots of a great oak tree when he heard something passing by. Like most other days, after wandering for hours he had become suddenly tired, and the shallow depression fringed by tall grass and bark had seemed like the perfect place to conceal himself from watchful eyes until the morning. But at the sound, his head immediately came up to peer over the roots at the darkened forest around him.
The thing that was making the noise was a... bobbing light? It flickered and wobbled up and down, hovering just above the ground a few yards away. That was odd. He just had to know what it was. The kit left his hiding place carefully and set out after the shape. But after only a few steps, there was a sudden snap as his paw incautiously came down on a small twig. Kuragari froze mid-step, cursing his haste and hoping he hadn't scared whatever it was away.

The little female kit glanced around the area with unwelcoming eyes. A squirrel saw her and went running into the highest tree possible as fast as it could. This made a sly smile cross her face for a second before it turned into a cruel frown again. As Poison stepped, the leaves below her paws shriveled and died. Her wicked smile was back on her face as she watched them.
Her ears flicked back towards the sound of a snapping twig. A low growl came from deep in her chest as she quickly turned in the direction of whatever was possibly following her. Whatever it was it would probably not get along with her like most other things, which pleased her.

Wait a minute, lights didn't... growl? As it moved in a small circle, the shadows suddenly resolved themselves into a small dark shape about his own size turning toward him. The fire was actually its tail - that was strange. Though not any more strange than a kit with chained forepaws and skeleton wings, Kuragari reflected ruefully, still remaining where he was. His curiosity had been aroused by this strange apparition and he had no desire to leave. Even if he had seen her cruel smile at the fleeing squirrel or the leaves withering at her touch, it was unlikely he would have done anything different. The god of fear felt none himself.

Her eyes caught a glimpse of the male. Quietly, she moved closer to him so that her fire would light him up a little more. What a strange character he was. Horns, no jewel, slit eyes, bat wings like hers that were only of bones, and a chain keeping his front paws together. Her dangerous glare turned looked straight into his eyes. Who was this creature and what did he want? An indifferent facial expression was slapped on her face as she looked at him. Her glare was the only thing making her look as though she felt something.

The creature came closer, and Kuragari realized it - she - was a kit. Just like him. Just like...
"Do you want to play with us?" "I'm Amira!" The kit smiled at him, so trustingly. "Please. L-leave us alone." After he'd ripped apart her innocent mind, sent her into convulsions of terror unleashed...
Coming back to himself took an effort. He realized he was shaking, his chains singing like tainted chimes until he made an effort to calm himself again. His expression hadn't changed otherwise. With any luck, it would have been difficult to see in the darkness. Leave us alone. He would carry the burden of those words for the rest of his life.

Her eyes watched him as he drifted off into a day dream. When he came back from his land, she was still staring at him with a indifferent glare. What did he want? If he did want something, he would speak, but if he didn't she would simply leave in a few seconds. Most other ulaya she didn't find as interesting as this one that was just staring at her.

Kuragari latched onto that glare like a floating branch in a flood. It was, oddly enough, a relief to have someone glaring at him, welcome dissimilarity between now and the past. He had thought he could put that all behind him; it had been a long time since he last felt that hunger. But what if it happened again?
Needing something else to think about, he asked the first question that came into his head. "Why is your tail on fire?" Talking was good. It kept him focused in the present.

"No hello?" She said with a sly smile. A indifferent look sat on her face as she watched him for a second longer before answering his question. "My tail is on fire because my parents I guess." She said with a vicious glare at the end of her words.
Her claws were now digging into the dirt at the thought of her parents. They weren't ready for kits and decided to leave her and her brother alone. That was the story she told herself as she was growing up with her brother. Poison's glare shot from the other kit to the squirrel that was hiding in the trees above the two kits.

"...Hello then?" Kuragari said cautiously, wondering what other mistakes he was going to make. His parents hadn't exactly considered learning how to talk with other Ulaya a priority - how to instill fear in them, more like. He wondered if he was really supposed to be consorting with mortals so much.
"Oh." That seemed all there was to say to that. She didn't look inclined to elaborate, although maybe that glare was just her normal expression. He followed her gaze into the treetops, wondering why such a small creature should be the target of this kit's wrath.

A squirrel was far too small and easy for her to hurt. Now, another kit would be more fun to attack, though, this one was to interesting. She would rather spare him. Poison's eyes lowered to look at the other kit in front of her. Well, this conversation was going no where. Maybe it was time for the two to take their paths and move on.
Her ears twisted as she waited to see if he wanted to talk to her any longer. If not, this was a complete waist of both of their times. Though, she had nothing better to do. Poison was a little curious about this ulaya kit, but like her, he was probably growing tired of all the questions about why he looked the way he did.

He had never met another Ulaya quite like this kit before, one who stared at him with the same burning glare she seemed to treat everything else to. Why should that squirrel seem so afraid of her when she was only a mortal? And why wasn't she afraid of him? Suddenly he realized he had spoken that last question out loud. Are you not afraid? The godling kit couldn't help but stare at her, waiting for an answer.

She looked at him for a second, thinking about her answer. Was this a trick question? Her gaze shot around the area then returned to him. "Afraid? What on earth would I be afraid of male?" Poison spat out the word male as if it had the taste of dirt. The little dark colored kit's eyes lowered to his chains then rose to the thing around his head; instead of a normal gem he had a skull. Was she supposed to be afraid of this kit? Did he have something special about him? Either way, she didn't care. An indifferent look sat on her face for a moment.

"Me," the little kit said simply, ignoring her disrespect. Could she really not see who he was? Even if she had not, his appearance and the unusual gravity that seemed to linger in his every expression was generally enough to catch the unwary off guard. But this female seemed not to know or care. Who was she, anyway?

Was the other kit kidding? Why on earth would she be afraid of him? In her mind she was laughing, but her expression stayed indifferent. "You? What, may I ask, is so scary about you?" Her eyes searched the area and her tricolored ears moved around a little as her wings shuffled a little. Poison was rather interested in this male, he had something about him that she liked, though he wasn't scary in anyway.
