i think i have a problem -_-

Lately i've been get very little sleep...last night, i got to sleep at 3 and needed to be up at 6, and now it's past 2am and i need to be up at 8. I went to my bed over 3 hours ago, and i haven't got a wink of sleep. To top it all off, i've been absolutley knackered all day and wanted an early night. I nearly fell asleep in a lecture at 1pm

why the hell can;t i sleep? anyone got any suggestions?

and how can i try and sleep better? I don't want to take sleeping pills...one of my friend's flatmates drinks Horlicks before going to bed...does that help (if you've heard of it)?

i'm sick of not sleeping and being tired all the time...i need to concentrate and get a good start to this semester...

Well, I don't know much about that stuff, but how are you feeling during the day? Are you depressed at all? Because my mom said that not sleeping is a sign of depression.... question question

lately i have been miserable...but that's been going on for a few months, and it's only in the past few weeks i haven't been sleeping well =[

But as for things to help you sleep,
here are something that help me sleep ^^

Well if I can't sleep I usually drink some hot chocolate,
and then read part of my book,
and then close my eyes and day dream.

Sometimes I try to -not- sleep,
and then I fall asleep pretty fast.

I also find doing things that you don't want to fall asleep during help me sleep,
like I ALWAYS fall asleep during movies if I'm tried.

My friend says that certain scents helps her sleep,
like the smell of fresh chives.

I hope that helped ^^

Edit: Also, not sleeping could be a sign of stress.
If something is stressing you or has changed in your life drastically in the past few weeks that may explain it.

I had exams the past couple of weeks...almost slept through one of them...

but, they're past now...

ok...i'm gonna try Horlicks and Hot Chocolate/book for a week each...hopefully it won't take that long...u.u

When you go to sleep, lie in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and don't think of anything.

Try breathing excercises.
Works for me...


Even lying down,
under the covers,
breathe in through
your nose and exhale
through your mouth.


As you're breathing,
put one hand on your
chest and the other on
your belly-button.
Make sure that the hand
on your stomach moves up
and down, while the hand
on your chest doesn't move
at all.

Close your eyes and
concentrate on your
breathing 100%.
If you do it right, you'll
start feeling sleepy and,
eventually fall asleep.


Even if you don't actually
sleep, doing that relaxes
you body and enables
your whole being to get
the rest it needs.

I don't really know how to help with that... I've had that problem before too. Like Compliments said, you might just be stressed/depressed. If you are, that can cause sleeplessness paired with drowsiness. So the best thing to do would be to figure out if something is wrong mentally/emotionally and fix it. Afterward, your sleeping problem might be solved.

And the title reminded me of something weird that happened. I was at my Mammaw's house, and someone called for my Pappaw. That wouldn't be so strange, but... he's been dead for like, ten years. ._. I wasn't quite sure how to respond, because saying "he's dead" would have made the caller feel awkward, I'm sure... so I just said, "I'm sorry, he doesn't live here."

Well, hun.. Stress is usually the most common factor x-x; Depression is too but you don't seem to be that depressed to me.. D:

What I do when I can't go to sleep is drink Peppermint or Chamomile Tea. It has this stuff that knocks you right out X_x; Or I drink warm milk with a bit of sugar and vanilla coffee creamer in it >3 I know I'm weird, but it really does help ^^

Or you could exercise before you go to bed, so you can tire yourself out a little more o.O I've heard that works, too X3

I second the exercise thing. One summer, I had a really hard time falling asleep and staying asleep at night. It's because I wasn't in school, so I was staying home all day, and therefore wasn't getting enough movement to feel tired. I started taking long walks after dinner, and since that tired me out more, I had a much easier time falling asleep at night. Also, the exercise will help you naturally relax afterwards.

Another thing is your sleeping conditions may have changed. Maybe now you want to sleep in a completely dark room that's cold instead of a bright room that's warm. Experiment to see what works the best for you. Don't force it, though. Let the sleep come to you.

When I go to bed at night, I can't fall asleep right away. I have to watch television for a little while until I get sleepy. So maybe it would help if you laid down comfortably and did something until you got tired. Then just let your eyes close and allow the sleep to sweep over you.

I have been having a really hard time sleeping the past month or so, too. confused It does suck, but it's worse for you, because I don't actually have anywhere to be.

Like Chibi and Asa said, exercise would be good right before bed. Do something that really tires you out.

Or you could just lay there and think the same word, over and over. Or if you like, concentrate on how comfortable and warm and stuff your bed is, that might help. I've done that a few times by accident and gone right to sleep. o_O I don't know if it would work as well if your trying to do it, though.
One other thing I like to do is just breathe, like Shinny said, and I like to put my hand over my heart, too and just feel/listen to it beating. o_O

I don't think I'm much help. After all, I usually have a hard time going to sleep myself. redface

my dad called me today, so i asked him what he thinks i should do. Turns out he has time staying asleep..i dunno if Insomnia is genetic or anything

he told me to go and get the strongest Nightol i can get without going to the doctor, lol

You could also do Theraflu.. I think they have one that's just a sleeping aid x-x;

Sometimes insomnia is genetic, but it's unlikely. It might also be poor sleeping habits, perhaps.. D:

i didn't manage to get anything to help me so i had another sleepless night -_- and it's thursday...somehting usually goes on here on a thursday night, so i bettter get something that puts me right out today >.<
