Many of us in the JCC are 18 or will be 18 by the time November comes around and we can vote with our minds full of information. I haven't kept up on the race but I was wondering, has anyone else done so?

This is a big year for all of us, especially the newborn 18yr olds that can vote. What's everyone's view? Care to share? Any new info on the race? I don't want TV too much to keep up so yeah lol anything will be helpful!

Even after a semester in government, I'm still not completely sure of my party association. Most of the time I tend to lean toward Democrats more so than Republicans so I'll be looking out for Obama and Clinton. I might just wait until the two parties pick their candidates before making my choice.

Aye, for sure I'm waiting. There's no point in voting when someone you voted for is just gonna fall off the band wagon. Seriously though, I don't know of my party association either then again I haven't really thought about it nor took the time to really care. Hopefully, I'll find out after government class or something lol I need to watch the debates more often.

I did catch a glimpse of the debate last night, and I must say I did like how Obama talked. He was asked a question about the black voters and he simply stated that they should vote for whats best for the country not because he's black. For some reason, I found that pretty cool he said that.

Yeah what L-u said. I know that I definately lean towards the Democratic side in my ideology. but still gotta see who they pick first and then i'll be paying even more attention to what going on in the world of politics. (yeah that was pretty cool of Obama, he's just kinda honest like that. lol I remember some research I had to do on him for a EC for gov't. yeah I couldn't find any scandals under his name at that time. I dunno about now)

And why is that? Care to share? Hopefully it's not because she's a woman.

Well both candidates for the Democratic party both stated that the people shouldn't vote for them base on their gender/race. Obama said that and so did Clinton. In reality though, a lot of people aren't looking into the facts and only vote base on that fact.

I don't even want to look at the Republican party this year. Every candidate on their side has been very disappointing.

Aye, I know. Which is why I asked Yuki that. My dad asked me if I was gonna vote for Clinton and I was like "Why? Just cuz she's a woman?" and he goes well yeah and I told em "Just cuz she's a woman doesn't mean she'll get my vote. If her views are good then maybe but till then, nah." *goes washes dishes* LOL

This year will be a very weird year to vote because people are solely voting for the fact that Obama is black and Clinton is a woman. I wish people would get smarter and understand, just cuz of race n sex, doesn't mean we'll get one hell of a president.

It's also sad to see how many people would rather vote for Obama because he's a man and not vote for Clinton because she's a woman. Vice versa I've heard people say they'd rather vote for Clinton because they'd rather vote for a white woman then a black man. >3 What is the world coming to?

It's the end of the world as we know it! *starts jammin'*

no really, it's just sad how people can be swayed so easily. People believe that politics is too complicated and don't want to get too in depth with it. Just like JFK got a bunch of his votes because he was on the the first tv broadcast of a presidential debate and his face was hip, young, and poppin' fresh compared to Nixon. lol

It's the end of the world as we know it! It's the end of the world as we know it! And I feel fine....XD I love that song.

Back on topic, I'll definitely do more research once the two prime candidates are narrowed down. Come election time I'll be voting! As for Kenedy I don't know what they were talking about because he looked rather creepy to me. Though to me he knew what he was talking about more than Nixon at the time...guess I'm just backwards.

Yeah, he didn't look that great to me either. O_o I was like "what kinda standards did them girls have?" lol i dunno. but i know that I can say to much about others being as though I haven't been looking into politics as much as I should have been. I'll just make sure not to vote by race or gender. (oh no! I'm black AND a woman! how's that going to work!? holy crap! *runs around* just kidding.)

Actually, you do bring up a good point. African American females will definetly get reprimanded during this campaign season. If it isn't because of race for Obama, its gender for Clinton. You know males and other races alike will say something about it. For once, they're caught in the middle for something they've got no control over, it's just how it happened. It's quite a sight to see that nowadays things get turned around for peoples own sick amusement when it concerns issues such as these.

Ok, I'm not quite 18 but I have been trying to pay attention to politics. I wanna make my own opinions about the candidates this time around; When Bush was elected president I actually was for him just based on what people said. I'm trying to watch CNN and other not-local news channels.

I first thought Clinton was a good candidate because I knew that she was very smart and I had heard one of her speaches and was really happy with what she said. However, Obama seems to be the one in the spotlight now. I've heard a lot more positive stuff about him rather than Hilary Clinton. So I'm not so sure, but I'll be looking out for interviews and news. As for the other candidates, I'm curious to see what they're about, but I'll probably stick with these two.

Partly.

and b/c I like what she says.

Obama is stuck on this one idea, while Clinton approves of it. And hopefully when she's (may possibly) be in office, she'll do something about it.
(no, and I'm not going to say what she's approving of.)
