[PRP] For Chane, Azure, Little Deer, San, and others on permission.

Quote:
ChibiPoet: The snow wasn't so deep here under the trees where Azure walked purposefully along the edge between the common forest and the deeper, less-traveled area. It was here she'd last seen Kit, and that had been two days ago. She'd hoped to find something, anything that would clue her in on his wherabouts and what ad kept him away so long.

1/3: Chane knocked the snow off a small three. Inspecting it he frowned and mumbled, "Critters are eating all the good bark off these..."

ChibiPoet: The muffled thump of snow hitting snow paused Azure for a moment before she increased her pace in the direction of the sound. "Kit?!"

1/3: Chane looked away from the tree, that voice was so familiar... and where had he heard that name before? "Who's there?"

ChibiPoet: Azure skidded to an unsteady stop, so not Kit. How could she be so foolish? The noise could have been anything and she had run blindly toward it. But then... the voice replayed in her head. A hand went to her side to touch the leather strap of her bow case. The case carrying the bow from Chane. Chane! "Chane?" She pushed on, but not as quickly as before, she kept alert to the trees as well.

1/3: Chane didn't move towads the voice, he hated leaving the path in such deep snow when the ground was so deceiving. Who was it though? It was a woman who knew his voice, that much was certain, but he hadn't been very close to any woman since... "Azure?!"

ChibiPoet: With the trees so bare Azure first glimpsed Chane as gray
stripes between the dark bark. Her worries for Kit were momentarily cast aside. "Gods, Chane, it is you! I- how long has it been?"

1/3: A laugh excaped Chane's lips, "I don't know! Where have you been? It's wonderful to see you!"

ChibiPoet: She laughed with him. "Here and there," she said without commitment. "It's not important. How're Little Deer and San?" San must have gotten so big, she felt guilty for not coming back to see the adorable child.

1/3: "They're both doing well, thankfully," Chane looked back towards the little tree, "How is Kit doing? And that crazy cervi friend of yours?"

ChibiPoet: Anxiety began to show in her body language while she controled her voice. "Kit's been missing... for two days now..." She glanced into the deep forest. "And I don't know what's happened to him."

1/3: Chane glanced towards Azure's hooves, "That can be hard, I'm sorry to hear that. Can he fly now?"

ChibiPoet: "Oh. Well... yes," she reluctantly took her gaze from the deep forest. "But he knows he shouldn't. He could be seen!" She remembered that Chane had also been raised away form normal centaur communities. "I didn't know it at first, but I've learned that... there isn't much love for the harpies among the others of the island."

1/3: "I've heard the tales, but I doubt anyone would hurt him. Most seem to think of it as legend or a scary bed time story. What are you doing nowadays? Still hunting?"

ChibiPoet: "I hope so..." She didn't have many first-hand reactiosn to go by, she tried her best to keep Kit from others. "Yes. We hunt the deep forest together some of the time. There's less competition," she said with a grin.

1/3: "Are you not in these parts of the woods much anymore? Near Haven Tree I mean. I mean I can understand why you'd want to avoid large cities and all."

ChibiPoet: "We tend to stear clear of Haven Tree except closer to festivals
to trade." A content smile spread as she continued to talk. "We've been the full length of the Isle, avoiding only the mountains and the cities. There's so much to see, it's been quite exciting."

1/3: "I'm surprised I havn't run into you at a festival then! I often go around those times to browse the goods," he paused. "Would you like to spend the night at my house? I left a stew over the fire, it should be about ready to eat now. And it's not far so you can continue your search tomorrow if you wish."

ChibiPoet: She checked the sky. "Thank you, Chane. I could use a break..." She stiffled a yawn. "So tell me what you've been up to," she said.

1/3: "I'm a healer now. We, er, Cyn and I added a second building to my home for sick rooms. Though they're empty right now. I was acctualy just looking for a bark I need for a medicine," He turned and headed back down the path. "I'm afraid I've earned a bit of a reputation though!"

ChibiPoet: Azure walked alongside where she could, behind in any place the path narrowed. "That's quite impressive. I guess I'd of heard about you if I stayed closer to civilization."

1/3: "Impressive? I suppose," He didn't feel inclined to point our that
even the comments spoken directly too him contained few kind words of his sanity. "There it is, you can see the light though the trees."

ChibiPoet: "Of course it is," she reached out and clasped his shoulder. She looked toward the light and shivered. "It'll be nice to be under a roof tonight."

1/3: "You know, I can't remember the last time I slept beneath the
stars..."

ChibiPoet: "It's wonderful when the sky is clear, and the air is warm," she added with a chuckle.

1/3: Chane pushed the makeshift door open and steped inside. "Make yourself comfortable, I should go let Little Deer know we have company. There's water over there if you want to wash up. And do you want a blanket?"

ChibiPoet: She stopped to take a deep breath of stew and old familiar scents. "Only if it isn't any trouble," she said of the blanket while loosening the straps of her light gear and setting it by the door before heading to the water. Se resisted the urge to call a greating to Little Deer... what if it had been so long that he'd forgotten her? She remembered his distrust of strangers.

1/3: Chane dissapeared down the hall off the side of the kitchen. Azure could hear Chane's voice asking something softly and second coarser voice replying, but couldn't make out what was being said.

ChibiPoet: Memory told her where some things were, and a bit of searching told her the rest. Wanting to give Chane and Little Deer some time alone, Azure gathered various utinsels for diner.

I'm going to bed! If there's no replies when I check again I'll pick it up. Otherwise, have fun!

Little Deer was curled comfortably by the couch, trying vainly to get a thread through a small hole. He had been spending all of the afternoon while Chane was gone trying to make a dream catcher. So far it felt like it was turning out, but...Little Deer's hands were no judges of art that he couldn't see. He frowned in disappointment. He was planning to give this to Chane as a gift, in a way of apologizing to the other for being so busy.

When he heard Chane's voice come in and start talking, saying that they had company, Little Deer vainly tried to hide the gift and he gave his hoarse reply, "...Um...No...No I don't...mind." It was Azure. How awkward...especially after all this time...After being lost and everything. Little Deer didn't know what to say. He felt bubbles of distrust well up in his chest and he felt his little social shell clamp tight around him.

Right beside him was San, carefully trying to string beads. His mouth was tightly clamped shut...like it always was...And he turned his golden eyes up upon Chane as he entered the home. He said nothing, revealed nothing.

((San's a teen now, did you get that cert? and how old is he in this?))

Chane wore a content look when he reentered the main room, clutching a pile of thick blankets. He hopped a bit as he approached Azure, thanking her for taking out the utensils as he offered her the top two blankets off the pile. It wasn't until he dropped the blanket that had been obscuring his forelegs that it became apparent he'd removed the false limb while speaking to the cervis.

He settled down with his back to the stone wall, between the fire place and the hidden door. From there put him in easy reach of the stew pot and the pantry, a small cupboard set above a series of spice drawers. He filled all four bowls with stew, making a side comment that Little Deer and San where just finishing up with what they where doing. But that was alright because the stew was too hot to eat yet anyways. With the bowls cooling on the table he turned and pulled from the cupboard half a loaf of bread and some butter which he placed next to the bowls.

"What kind of tea do you like, Azure?" He said, turning his attention back to the cupboard. He didn't wait for an answer before he started opening the drawers at random. With each drawer that opened a new and interesting smell escaped into the room. "One of the guests traded me all sorts of exotic teas a month ago. We haven't had the chance to try them all yet. But whatever you like I can almost guarantee it's in one of these drawers!"

Taking the blankets Azure set them out of the way for later and couldn't help but attempt to sneakily watch Chane on three legs. She'd never seen anything of the sort even though part of her felt it was rude.

She took a deep breath o the stew while it cooled, recalling times of their joint dinners which were often her only source of vegetables. And flavor. She raised her eyebrows in wonder at the other new smells which began to float about. Tea. Another of those rarities in Azure's life.

Not knowing the names for any (she couldn't even recall the name of the last one he'd served her) she joined Chane by the drawers and let her nose be her guide. A dark leaf with a woody scent drew her and she chose it out of the bunch, watching for how Chane would prepare it. Thinking back to her last cup of tea made her think of Kit again, and honey. She kept her feelings of anxiety as hidden as she could, this should be a happy occasion.

[[Yes, I have his cert! I think in this RP, he'll be just entering his adolescent years.]]

From the other room, Little Deer perked his ears to listen. He could hear the inhale of breath flex betwixt lungs, the shuffle of footprints across the floor and the soft chuckle of blankets as they moved. He felt his body tense, as if there was a fist in his stomach clenching with anticipation. After their last meeting, Little Deer was very unsure and somehow more protective of his relationship with Chane. It wasn't anything bad, but it was the only thing Little Deer could do. What else could a blind taur do for the one who saved his very life?

Finally, Little Deer built up the resolve to stand up. It was when he heard the silence that followed that Little Deer couldn't stand it anymore. Perhaps she wouldn't dislike him any more than she thought she did. Perhaps this time would be different. He gave a blind nod to Sanpaturiel who reached out with a hand to grasp his shoulder. That was the only way those two could speak or communicate with each other, with touch.

Little Deer beckoned the younger to follow him and San obliged.

He put his dream catcher down. It would have to wait. Pulling himself up from the ground with the help of his staff, Little Deer entered the room where Azure and Chane were.

Chane had just placed the kettle over the fire when the cervis entered the room. He paused, eyes lingering on Little Deer for a moment before flicking to Azure, hopping to catch her reaction. He figured that three of those present remembered their last gathering. Of that three his own memory was likely the most flawed. He thought that most of Azure's wrath had been directed at him, but was that fact or an exaggeration?

He hadn't seen Azure since then, so of the four only three knew of Little Deer's supposed death. He had wanted Azure then, someone he could turn to for help, if nothing else. But she remained as elusive as his lost cervi.

Only two present knew of the things that happened between the news of Little Deer's murder, and the night he reappeared. Chane knew very well that in this house the walls had ears, it was times like these he felt blessed they couldn't speak.

"I'm sitting at the back, Azure's on your right," he looked away from as he spoke, in case his words drew her attention. "The stew is still hot so be careful, ok?"

Amazed at how Little Deer has grown - she'd last known him as an awkward teen - Azure is at first speechless. She felt a stab of loneliness and was at first confused by it. She had put aside her feelings for Chane, right? She looked over at him and felt some relief, she was right. But seeing them together simply brought to light how cut off she felt from the world, how eager she felt for a companion of her own kind.

Still looking at Chane she smiled, things were well between them, at least on her end. She felt a bit embarrassed that she'd gone so long without saying anything, after so long it was easy to forget Little Deer's blindness. "Hello Little Deer," she said, hoping to give him a better idea of where she was. "I hope you've been well," she said, unsure what else to say after so long.

Little Deer, hearing the voices of those in the room, perked his ears up to amplify the direction from which they came. He squeezed his fingers tighter around his staff and walked easily to their area as if he could see through the bandage that covered the place where his eyes used to rest. He gave a thankful nod to Chane and replied, "I can hear where you are. Your heartbeats are loud and I can see your color."

Then as he came just a couple feet to where they lied, Little Deer gave a small blind smile at Azure, seeming to stare right into her, "I've been doing my best," he said, ignoring the fact that he had been lost and pronounced dead just a couple weeks ago, "How have you been?"

Behind him, his hand resting on Little Deer's back was Sanpaturiel. His shy golden eyes stared at Azure and glanced between his family members. He was curious to see another since Little Deer didn't get along with others very well. The corners of his lips pulled up into a little smile.

((Ok, sorry I took so long getting back to this. Between my wrist and random changes of plans I keep getting derailed.))

Jarred slightly by the cervi's confidence Chane lost his train of thought. He'd been planning to introduce San to Azure, but instead he resumed setting the table. Without making an apology he pointed past Azure to a shelf holding a colourful assortment of cups, "Could you set out four of those, Azure? I forgot to get them before I settled down."

Little Deer still had the air of a stranger or a ghost hanging about him, an illusion made all the more strange by how the familiar Sanpaturiel had taken to hovering at his side. If the walls could speak... Chane broke the bread.

Confusion pass over Azure's face, but she'd ask later. Our colors? Though she normally might have wondered if there was something more Little Deer was leaving out, the confusion left her ignorant of it. "I'm glad to hear it," she said while heading to the cups, feeling a strange chill at the pointed gaze. Get a hold of yourself, this is Little Deer! Still, it was like coming back to discover he'd regained his sight or had grown a third antler. "I've been doing as well as I'm able," she added with a rueful smile. Looking over her shoulder while gathering cups she tried to figure out if there was even a glimmer of recognition on San's face. Well... he had been very young at the time, and frightened during most of Azure's stay. Perhaps it was best if he didn't remember her.

She brought the cups back and began placing them. She stood a bit longer as though waiting for Little Deer and San to sit first but then thought better of it. And what of San? She felt rude not asking after him... but she was uncertain if she'd understand him when he responded. Surely he'd come up with a way to communicate. Well, Chane could translate she supposed. "And how are you San?" she asked, hoping she wasn't making a fool of herself.

[[I'm uncertain if this illusion is only in Chane's head or something that Azure could see...]]

Although Little Deer was as blind as a bat, he could still see and sense the awkward feelings towards him in the room. He could hear it in how the other taur slowly responded to him, the words they choosed, and how they said them. There was a certain melody in their voices, in the voices of everyone, and Little Deer was very adapt at picking them apart to see the hidden feelings within. It was a talent he acquired as a youth when he was growing up and he had to listen carefully to everything when Chane went away.

Little Deer hid this knowledge, though. He didn't want others to see that he was also getting an odd vibe. "That's...good," Little Deer was able to say as he found the ground around him with his staff until he felt it was safe to sit down. San, on his side, also sat down.

At Azure's voice, San turned his intense gold eyes in her direction. He gave her a slow nod of his head and let a little smile spread on his lips and quickly fade away. He was doing alright, he communicated.

((It's something only Chane can see, but I'm sure Azure would be able to pick up his uneasiness, even if she doesn't realize it.

Sorry for not posting, I'm kinda stuck for a reply. I'm also heading out for the weekend, won't be back until either monday or tuesday. ^^*))

Azure thought she saw a glimmer of the smile she'd once seen on a young mute babe and her face brightened in response. With everything set and nothing left to do but visit and eat, Azure felt she'd go ahead and ask the burning question. "What is it that you... see now, Little Deer?" she asked. Part of her curiosity stemmed from simply wanting to know how he'd been and what he'd been up too, while a somewhat vain part of her was curious simply to know if she was seen in a favorable way with this color-sight of his.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:42 am

"I can..."see"...color. I think. I think it's color, I'm not sure anymore. It's been so long since I...But I think it's color. I see lavender where Chane is...Maroon where I hear your voice...And Young San...I see green," Little Deer said slowly, as if each word needed to be processed around thought over before he gave an answer. It felt stupid to be describing what he saw. He had no eyes, so how could he be seeing these colors that burned their images in his mind. It's been years since his eyes were carved out of their sockets, years. How could he remember color?

Chane gestured toward his own violet eye, "He's very adept, isn't he. I used to collect lavender flowers by the armfuls... We haven't had lavender around the house in over a year, have we, San," he shook his head. Then turned to Azure, "Cyn's proposed a few theories on why it happens but it's not something we really understand," he caught himself and looked up at the others. "Sorry. Part of me is always trying to tag explanations on everything. But Little Deer's colours elude me."

((I'm so sorry for taking so long. I hope we can pick it up again...))
