The morning was misty, a fine haze cast over everything in the female's path. Many might've found it pretty, beautiful even, but Fira had never been one to notice such things. She thought the moisture in her pelt to be annoying.

The lioness had no direction in her step, merely wandering wherever the wind took her. She was growing impatient with Zaliwa and his non-answers. If they were to leave, then she wanted to leave, not waste time trying to find more members. Certainly they had enough, at least, for now.

Fira grunted, finally sitting down.

Kashi had abandoned her family again, though she still didn't have the heart to completely leave her mother. It was better now, with her brother and father gone, there did seem to be a little less tension in the sibilings. Of course, Marty's whining never seemed to stop.

She romped through the grasses happily, pleased to be wandering around alone again. She knew she was tough, smart, and good enough to be out on her own though, that didn't mean that she was really ready for the world.

Startled, she skidded to a stop, not realizing just how thick the haze was, to where she did not notice the lioness.

"Oh," she breathed, hoping that she didn't intrude on her. She definately didn't seem familiar to Kashi, and she didn't know how adult rogues were, away from her normal roaming ground of the Pridelands.

Fira quirked a brow at the cub, flicking her tail. The kid seemed awfully young to be away from her parents... right? She blinked, realizing how little she knew about the growth of cubs. "You... uh," she said, "you should be with your parents, shouldn't you? Where's your mom? Or your dad?"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 21, 2008 8:47 pm

Wha? Is that what all adults seemed to worry about? She gave a quick, brief snort at that, obviously the questions being rubbed the wrong was. Well, that was how she interpreted it.

"My father's an oaf, he took my brother and left us for a while, some kinda 'trip.'" The thought of the two of them, while not revolting, left something to be desired. It made her feel like men were definately below that of females, what with their normal state of thought.

"My mother's okay, I'm just out for the day while she's with my sibilings," she affirmed with a nod. She would make sure to return home, she just didn't like to be there every single moment with them. That was too much.

Fira didn't push any further. She understood the cub, having been independent from a young age as well. "Ahhh, I see," she said with a small grin. "You're a brave kid, then, out on your own. Not everyone you'll run into is nice, y'know."

She didn't necessarily mean to try and intimidate the youth, although she didn't clarify herself, either. The lioness was curious to test the cub's personality, to see who she was up against - so to speak.

Kashi grinned. Okay, now she liked this lioness. At least she seemed to understand a bit just what it was like, when you wanted to be on your own so badly, but you just weren't quite ready for it, either. Not that Akasha would ever admit it.

Her black ear flicked. "I'm sure there's lots of mean creatures out there," she agreed. "I don't usually go this way, sometimes I wander more into the Pridelands. I know it's a bit safer there but...the haze all around here kind of attracted me." Which, with not knowing what was in the haze, you could say that the danger of it all attracted her.

Fira nodded at Kashi's statement. "Mystery is always intriguing," she replied. "As long as you keep your wits about you, you should be fine. Not that you asked or anything, but I have one bit of advice for you. Don't overestimate yourself. If you run into trouble, the wisest thing to do would be to turn back." She rarely listened to her own advice, but then again, she was fully grown. Back in her younger days, she had always been cautious.

"Of course, if you can handle it, then face it head on," she added with a chuckle. "Just be smart about it. Say, kid, what's your name? I'm Fira."

Oooohhh. Besides the whole turn around thing, Kashi decided that she liked this female. She seemed smart, and though it was hard to tell, Kashi decided that she was probably pretty strong, too. Awesome! So at least she felt that there really was hope out there for some real strong lionesses.

"Ooooh," she said, again, but out loud as she admired the lioness. She nodded, letting her mind soak it up, but moreso paying attention to the latter part. She certainly thought that she could handle it, and nearly handle everything. A pack of hyenas? No way, but some other things, hell yeah!

"I'm Akasha," she replied, "though I like being called Kashi." She beamed. "You have a really nice name, Fira," she said, complimenting the green lioness.

"Thanks, Kashi. You have a nice name, too."

She yawned, flashing her fangs in the process. Whether she was truly tired or merely showing off a bit was not clear, but it was easy enough to guess. "My apologies, Kashi, I suppose I'm not very good company. So... are you a part of a pride?"

The idea of being in a pride had been on her mind lately, so she wasn't surrpised to hear the question come out of her mouth.

"Pride? No way!" she retorted, giving a very unladylike snort. Her only example of what a real pride was the Pridelands, though, and she thought that they were all a bunch of sissys. "Places like the Pridelands are full of weak little lions, I wouldn't ever want to be joined in a group like them."

She puffed up her chest, hoping to look tough. "Maybe if there was a tougher group of lions, but otherwise I think I'm just fine." She smirked, feeling quite pleased with herself.

"What about you? Didja find a really cool pride to join?" Her admiration seemed to make her words conflict one another. If she was in a really strong pride, though, that would be cool!

"Like the Pridelands? Oh, I couldn't agree more," she said with a soft chuckle. "You'd be surprised, though. There are certainly a few groups of tougher lions, as you say. I'm joining the Aali'makabila."

Her eyes flashed almost mischeviously. "Their leader is a fool but the ideals suit me just fine. I'm sure there are more out there. You just have to look. Of course, there's nothing wrong with being a rogue. Take care of yourself and forget about everyone else!"

"Hmmm." She noted the name, the words sounding a bit odd to her, but odd made it easier for her to remember. The idea of tougher prides tickled her curiosity, but she still felt that maybe being by herself was cool, too. Oooh, she couldn't decide! It was like a kid trying to decide what they wanted to be when they grew up (which wasn't usually what happened, anyway).

More conflicting signals, but with praise for rogues being spoken of, she puffed up her chest again. "I might stick to that," she started, fearless about the dangers. "Though I do like talking to others sometimes, it's nice to only have to worry about yourself."

The talk about ideals confused her, but then again she still didn't know too much about those, or beliefs, or anything along those lines.

Fira had always been sure that she would remain a rogue her whole life, and even now she didn't think she'd actually stay in the pride. If Kashi needed anyone to tout to advantages of staying away from prides, Fira was happy to comply.

"That's what's great about keeping out of a pride. There are tons of other rogues you can meet but at the end of the day, they don't have to matter. Hell, I'm only joining this pride to see if there's any benefit in it for me. But unless you can keep a secret, I didn't just tell you that." With a grin, she winked at the younger female.

Kashi's eyes widened for a moment, before a small gigle escaped her mouth. A secret? She was always good at keeping secrets! It was sometimes the best way to make sure that you had the upper hand in fights, as she found out with her sibilings. Plus, it made her feel more important to be something like a secret keeper.

"I promise!" she chirped. She did think about what she said for a moment longer. "So sometimes you can join prides just to see if they're worth it?" An interesting note, one she might have to remember. If she could at elast try out some of these 'stronger' prides, she might be able to find one that she liked without getting stuck in one that only looked strong, but really wasn't.

"Well, it's generally frowned upon." Her voice was amused. "But if you're smart enough to trick them into believing you're actually interested in this tradition and that rule and this belief... well, why not?"

Fira smirked, flicking her tail. It felt good to be able to advise the younger lioness, whether it ended up making a difference or not.

"You really just have to follow your gut, Kashi."
