Froth crested waves whirred by, projecting a vehement garble in the still, frosty morning air. Here and there a flake would flit about, stark against the placid pinks, pallid purples, and soft saffron yellows. Gentle puffs of frosty air whirled about, weaving through bare, crisscrossed branches and patting the frozen earth as if to whisper encouragement for the coming spring. In short, it was one of those days, both soothing and bold, equally complimenting the other to create a marvelous display of natural wonder. It seemed such days were rare as of late and the depth of beauty was magnified to the fem neatly perched on a snow-capped outcropping above the river, slim forelegs dangling in the nipping air and allowing ivory paws to skim the courageous river.

Quietly a sigh did slip, not of mild vexation nor grief but merely in appreciation that Vanya found she could not convey in words. In her mind thought alone surpassed her words as she detested the oftentimes stumbling verbiage she uttered in a bout of meek embarrassment. How valiantly did she try to smooth the faults cracking her subdued veneer, but it seemed to no avail. Not even the journey to the distant borders of these familiar lands had fully worn away her self-assumed abhorrence.

This mattered naught, though as she overlooked the awakening morning. Even the ghost of a smile kissed her lips, igniting a luminous spark in spring green eyes reflecting the rushing waters. All was well and nothing could even hope to detract from the wonder of this morning that left her near breathless. It was so gorgeous, so calming… As if a cloud of ethereality had enveloped her form, sweeping away every fear she harbored. Not only that, but for once she had found a den that appeared it would provide for her for many moons to come - it was little more than a foliage strewn hollow in a thick, ancient oak not far from where she currently resided, but it was spacious and solid appearing as though a small family could comfortably live inside - and her abdomen no longer moaned with voracious hunger.

Yes, all really was well.

((Beautiful descriptions, Aya))

Tranquil whispers wafted elegantly with the simple flurries as they traveled down to the sparkling river that lay quiet and still in the crisp morning air. It was indeed a morning to marvel if not pause to respect for its rare beauty. It did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Each little snow crystal that twiddled down in tendrils of diamond beauty was adored by a figure that made the little area his abode long ago. This, however, was his first winter here as well as his first winter ever. Everything was a new fascination that collected his attention accordingly and strung it out never once dwindling to a stop. It seemed as though the silver wolf, who blended in with the shadows of the falling specks, never could grow bored with the absolutely stunning setting he was blessed to inhabit.

His own content sigh seemed to follow through him at the same time as the females before it faded out into silence once more. Though much of the area was bustling with faint noises it still seemed...quiet and peacefully so. Blinking his clear eyes, the wolf turned to gaze farther up the river. The cyan markings across his fur contrasted against their setting while during the spring and summer it seemed to blend while the undercoat of gray was what popped out visually. It was interesting to see the effects of change through the seasons, not just in the setting but in oneself. Saeldur, as he was called, hardly noticed this change. And he hardly noticed his massive, but brilliantly sleek size as he had grown through the months. Though he was aware he was taller, the wolf had no one to compare himself to in this secluded piece of paradise, so naturally he did not thrive in the joys of leaving childhood as a pack would celebrate a wolf's first year, nor did he take part in any coming of age endeavor that would state his adulthood. All the same, it would seem he would have an eye opening encounter shortly.

The velvet black nose breached the air, inhaling the scents of pines and willows that graced the little creek area along with the fresh cream of new snow. However, it was something new on the wind that truly sparked his interest. What was it? 'A wolf,' he thought, knowing what it was in order to reform his question to be, who was it? He knew this scent...or so he thought, but he couldn't match an image to the smell. A slight annoyance rose in him at his inefficiency, but it was quickly replaced by a drive sense of curiosity that forced his paws to propel him forward in order to investigate. Maybe he would understand how time had passed and who was just around the bend.

[ Thank you!
Saeldur's picture is beautiful, by the way~ Really brings out his markings. :3

Oh, and if Vanya's color is too light don't hesitate to mention it. I still can't decide if maybe it is just a touch too light... ]

Just as the flakes suavely danced a whimsical ballad, so did the mingling scents upon the serpentine trails of wind. The fresh waft of water, the decaying woodworks, the frosted earth, and even her own of damp fur, distinctive and tinted with something beautiful lost upon herself. But there was something else, she realized. Something as distinct as her pelt which lacked any other lupine scents, something wholly lupine as herself. Something just as lonely, something so, so familiar. So familiar it plagued her mind with frayed, necrotic fingers.

Oh, how it tortured her, to the point she shifted on her perch, spring green optics surveying the land for some telltale sign of the approaching. Nothing swayed aside from the wind’s searching lull, nothing moved save for the sprightly snow, nothing sounded aside from the incoherent cries of the river. Nothing. Nothing, but something.

So what was it? What bore this scent so proudly yet remained so hidden?

It was plain within moments when finally something did move. The broken fronds of brush twitched as though muttering grievances of being trodden on and the snow crackled loudly in just the same way. That something was coming and quickly now, as swiftly as his paws could dare to be bidden.

Flashes of color played beneath the veneer of monochromatic hues. Blending and startling, accenting and embellishing; hues of silver-gilded grey and brilliant swatches of cyan. The scent intensified and suddenly just as she knew her own name she knew the name of the intruder: Saeldur.

A childish yelp tore from her muzzle, the contemplative frown shooed away with a sheepish grin because just as her yap returned from the trees and stones so did her persona. As much as she may have longed to glimpse the blissful male and to make amends, she could not help but shyly retreat along her perch. How could she explain for her naïve actions? Bolting from perfectly amiable company and without no more than a name murmured through a cascade of stutters was not the proper way to act.

So how was she to act now?

((Thank you, and her text color is fine. I can see it perfectly ^^))

Just as his mysterious scent was torturing the beautiful femme, her's was also sending his mind into turmoil. Though he was aware of the fall of his pads against crisp snow, feeling the crunch and listening to the crackle, his mind seemed unfocused and instead wafted further on the subject of who this wolf was. Naturally he went to investigate, far too curious to simply let it go. Besides, even if they were to meet and Saeldur was not to have previously met the wolf at least it was safe to say he would be pleased with the company. It had been quite some time since he last made contact with any of his kind and though the life of a loner was something he was capable of performing it didn't mend the fact he was willing to converse with another wolf. He was lonely, there was no mistaking that.

Unlike the female, it was not until his eyes lay on her slim for that her name popped into his mind along with the memories of their departure as well. Saeldur remembered the day keenly. Little Vanya wandered into his territory with her shy demeanor shinning through. The silver pup thought it had been something he said that had driven her away, but now that they were within range of one another once more he would finally have some answers. If he wanted them. In all honesty he had forgiven the girl and cared not as to why she ran and now was pleased enough to see her just above him through the trees. His tail wagged in joyous jubilee.

"Vanya?" he murmured taking a few steps forward having not realized he paused. What had caught him and forced his body still? Was it the shock of her transformation into this stunning youthful femme or the simple fact that he had not seen her in so long? Perhaps it was both. All the same, he was relieved to see her once more and took another step forward, approaching slowly. He was wise in his approach, not wanting to scare the girl he knew to be a timid pup not a stronger larger adult.

"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" he continued, unsure what to say or how to go on either. He was social, but awkward in his words. How was he to act now?
