He had gone home in hope of finding some sort of solace only to find emptiness. That had never happened before... There had always been someone there, yet it looked as if no one had been 'home' in weeks.
There were no tracks in the snow save for his own, nothing to follow to another location... Nothing but a lonely cave where a family had once lived.
He had turned away from it again, finding himself near the outskirts of woods that he'd told himself he would stay away from. He didn't need to cause any more trouble than he already had, did he? He had told himself that he would take a step back and reevaluate things... And he had found nothing.
Nothing.

She had told herself that she'd give up on looking for Pyre but she still found herself wandering the outskirts of her family's home land. She told herself that she wasn't looking for him and that she was just walking but it was a lie.
She still hoped to find some sort of trace of him laying around even if it was old and she knew she'd never catch him. At least knowing he wasn't completely gone would have been better.

Night had come sooner than he'd thought it would, the sun settling itself deep beyond the horizon. He stood out now just as he did on any other night, flames leaping as they licked at his legs. He had been standing in one spot for too long... Far too long. He should be moving again, should be running. He could feel the desire to do so welling up, begging him to give in.
Snorting he took a step back before rearing up, hooves batting at the night sky as he let out a loud whicker before coming back down. He felt so... Restless. The restlessness was almost enough to overpower the emptiness... Almost.

Her ears caught a sound and she turned her head toward the edge of the forest. It might not be Pyre but it might be... Turning she trotted in the direction from which she'd heard the sound. There was someone out there and maybe they could tell her something.
As she neared where she had thought the noise had come from her eyes lit up. That glow could only be one thing. "Pyre!"

He almost bolted; almost gave in to the desire to take off running... Almost... And then he heard his name. He stomped at the ground, ears swiveling as he tried to figure out whether or not he'd really heard it or whether or not he was just fooling himself; hearing something where there was nothing.
He turned his head, preparing to fight whatever ghost it was calling him without being present, only to catch sight of a petite figure moving towards him. No flames, no fire... A scent carried on the wind... "Siren?"

She skidded to a hault just away from him and smiled. "Long time no see." She knew she wasn't suppose to be seeing him. She was suppose to stay away from him like her daddy said but she just wasn't going to.

"What brings a little girl like you all the way out here by yourself?" He couldn't help but smirk as he eyed her, flames dancing along as his emotions picked up the teasing tones in his voice. "You're going to wind up getting into some sort of trouble... And I'm not going to be able to walk you home this time."

"Oh, just out taking a walk. Thought it would do me some good to get out and about." She smiled and tossed her curls out of her face. It was so good to see him again. It was more than good seeing him again.
"Unless you plan in going and ratting on me i don't think i'm going to be getting into any trouble. What daddy doesn't know won't hurt me."

"I've heard..." He took a step closer to her, looking around as if making sure that they were alone before whispering in a tone meant to mock all sorts of seriousness. "... That parents have ways of knowing what you're doing... Even if you're nowhere near them." He couldn't help but laugh as he nipped at a strand of her mane before pulling back, giving his head a toss. "Something about being a parent, I guess."

"Yes well, i already told daddy that he's not going to stop me from seeing you." She nodded slightly. "So he can know all he wants. What's he going to do? keep me from leaving the cave?" She knew her mother would never stand for that.

"Is that so now?" He smirked as he eyed the petite mare. "I bet your daddy didn't like that one bit. I know mine probably wouldn't care all that much if he told me to stay out of trouble and I kept getting into it..."

"no ... he didn't." He would be horribly upset with her if he found out too. He had told her to stay away and he was only trying to protect her. She knew he was just worried but she wanted to do what she wanted. She wanted to be able to talk to who she wanted to. "As long as i don't get into any trouble then everything will be fine. He'll realize that you aren't out to hurt me"

"Y'mean he didn't tell you that if you play with fire you're likely to get burned?" He smirked teasingly, eyes gleaming as he watched her. There was something about this banter that he had missed... It just wasn't the same as tossing lines back and forth with his sister. "I guess I could prove him wrong... Just this once... Since you've already gone through all this trouble to find me at all."

"He did, but are you going to let me get burned?" She moved closer to him and eyed the flames around his hooves. That was the difference. "You should prove him wrong. It would be so mean of you to make a liar out of little old me"

"I don't know what might happen if you get too close." He turned his head, catching one of her curls in order to give it a light tug. "Your father seems like a good stallion... A bit hard and set in his ways, but good; a lot different than my father. He was always really easy going while my brother and sister and I were growing up..."
