THE FOREST FIELD!!!
Thick trees sprout at random places throughout the field, some small while others seem to reach out and touch the ceiling of the stadium. As with ancient trees, some roots are seen being thrust above the ground which makes easy for a pokemon to trip if they do not watch where they are going. Spacing between the trunks vary, making passage difficult for those on the ground and in the air. The ground is littered with piles of pine needles, leaves, and sticks of all sizes; several tree trunks and rotting logs can be found scattered around as well.

Renekai sat atop a tree on her side of the stadium. "First battle?" she called to the other trainer. "I haven't seen you around here before. Good luck!" Renekai tossed Bell's Pokéball into the air.
In a red beam of light, Bell flew to her position. Another battle. But with a new trainer? The trainer would still be a threat, even if they were new. No point getting cocky. Not yet, at least.
"I heard you got a pretty rare Pokémon?" Renekai asked, tilting her head.

Jackie leaned casually against a tree before stepping out again to answer the other trainer. "Well, I'm new around here. But not for long." she vowed, holding out her pokeball dramatically. She rubbed the silver-metal seam for a moment, just before she tossed it into the air.
Leaping out of the pokeball in a flash of light and steam, Ferrum entered the field. Scanning her surroundings and her opponent carefully, she feigned indifference, and began to sniff a small tree. What was the point? One hit to this fragile birdy-thing, and it would be gone. Although, the cheering voices of the unseen spectators did give her the itching to fight... how long would it be contained?
"Recessive shiny, as a matter of fact." Jackie replied, with just a touch of pride in her voice.

"Really? Bell's the same, here. Recessive shiny." Renekai kept her voice light and polite, but inside she was burning with rage. Who was this trainer to be so cocky on her first battle? Renekai would show her how a real battle was done! "Get ready, Bell," she growled.

After receiving no answer, Jackie planted her feet on the ground, and called to Cranidos. "Alright, Ferr! Let's show this Delibird what we're made of! Crunch it!" she shouted confidently. Deli - bird? I'd like to see what it's made of... Ferrum's tail snapped like a whip as it whirled around to face the bird in it's treetop perch. Opening her bony beak and preparing her hindlegs for a gigantic leap, she began to howl.
kkKKKREEEEEee!!!
The ear-shattering utterance echoed through the stadium, as Ferrum sprang, her jaws open wide.700/700

Bell hurriedly returned the bite with a Mega Kick, not waiting for Renekai's order. A taloned foot to the mouth would hurt, even if this freakish Pokémon that Bell had never seen before had wierd armor. Bell would teach that thing who was boss!
Renekai tried to ignore the fact that Bell had, once again, not waited for her command. Still, the attack choice was a good one, considering the situation.

Ferrum flashed her teeth in victory as the Delibird's kick glanced off of her hard bony skull - the best piece of armor she had. Some aim. She was about to leap forward again, but Jackie held her back with a sharp command.
"Ferr! Don't you get ahead of yourself! The Deli's a flying-type - try a Shockwave!"
Ferrum snarled. She almost had the bird right in her jaws! But it had gotten away by now. There was no choice now but to listen to her trainer, at least to avoid a lecture or two. Planting her feet on the ground, Ferr retaliated with a fierce electrical blow emanating from her body. However, it wasn't one of her best attacks, and her aim had not improved.

Bell squawked indignantly as the shock caused her feathers to poof out. Not. More. Electricity.
"Bell," Renekai called. "Use Icce Beam!" Renekai couldn't believe that she was relying on this tactic so early in battle.
Bell gave a swift nod before fluttering away from Ferrum, then charging a small, bright blue ball in her beak. As the ball grew, so did the intensity of the light it gave off. Satisfied at a large baseball size, Bell released the beam, hoping to freeze the Craindos. If the ice was cold enough, it would penetrate even Ferrums thick skull. No room for a brain, Bell thought absently to herself.

Ferrum's claws scrabbled against the ice as it climbed around her scaly skin. Her thrashing slowed as the ice encased her completely, with only the tip of her tail poking out.
"Ferrum! No!" Jackie cried out, as Ferrum's eyes darted around wildly from inside the ice. Wait! Even though Ferr was a rock type, she was a reptile. Cold-blooded! Hopefully, if the cold sunk in deep enough, Ferr could just go into a sort of hibernation until the ice melted... Jackie's face fell. Until then, Ferr would be a sitting duck - and for who knows how long? Jackie clenched her fists in defiance. Ferrum, be strong!
"Kreee..." Cold. It's so cold. Cold... was the last thought before she slipped into darkness, embraced by the sudden silence of the ice.

((Ack! I'm so sorry, I don't know how to read! T__T ))
The last Shockwave attack must have jump started Ferrum's senses, for she nimbly avoided the Ice Beam - a hard feat to accomplish for a rock-type dino pokemon. Good thing she was an exceptional rock-type dino pokemon...
"Close call there, Ferrum! You better watch yourself!" Jackie called from across the clearing. Ferrum grumbled. "Kraaa-Dos!" she whined in protest. Jackie just pointed at Ferrum's half-frozen tail. Her eyes grew wide, and she sped around the clearing, searching for the Delibird. Revenge!
She opened her jaws wide as soon as she sighted the strange white and red feathers. It's Crunch Time! she thought triumphantly, as her jaws opened wide once more.
