Once again, the little grey flutter was wandering around with no real direction in mind. Sorai tended to do that quite a bit, as she didn't really know where either parent was right now - though she had heard they were back together again, which was nice. But really, she didn't want to intrude upon them, anyway, so she tended to stay on her own, with only Dele for company.

Dele being the mouse, of course.

At the moment, she'd just come out of a forest of sorts into a large meadow just as the sky was fading from daylight to dusk up above. Pausing to admire the part of the sunset she could see above the trees, the small mare stood there in the tall grass with tail swishing lightly behind her - head flung up to watch the sky ... and completely not paying attention to anything else around her for the moment.

Althalus was grazing within the confines of the woods, pleased that his travels had taken him south enough for the cold snows to steer clear. Though the grass was still greener, and the sun warmer, that didn't mean cold wasn't present within the night air. The sun had painted the sky a beautiful pink and gold, and the orange stallion couldn't help but turn his silver eyes up to admire it.

He was often compared to an evenings night, a living memory of the sunsets that so many missed or took for granted. Though there was a chill in the wind, and the cloudless sky only assured all that it would indeed become frigid, the stallion was content. He hadn't at all much of a clue exactly where his hooves had taken him, but he was somewhere. . . . Long shadows clutched to the surroundings, desperately reclaiming the land in a blanket of night.

Althalus wondered if, perhaps, he should have earlier steered clear within the woods but it was too late for that now. He'd probably retire within the haunted embrace of the surrounding trees and foliage, and find his way out again come morning. Besides - it offered grass to eat and protection from the occassional gust of winter wind. He'd have no trouble settling.

Keeping his slow trail, pausing now and then to nibble here and there, the stallion's ears pricked as he heard a sound. It was quiet, soft, and could have been mistaken for a gusting breeze but no . . . there was more weight to it than that and the wind had thus stilled. An animal? Curious, he slowly walked closer to the source, dipping through the underbrush as quietly as his hooves could manage. Thankfully, the animal itself he fast discovered was far from a beast. . . .

Silver, like a phantom within the night, he beheld the most wonderous of creature. A soquili with frayed and fail looking butterfly wings had paused amongst the underbrush, a mare from what her scent told him. Ah - this night was blessed indeed! Quickly realizing his manners, the young man gave a soft snort and cleared his throat, dipping his head apologetically as he stepped out. "Such a lovely painting that's displayed within the sky this night - a shame that the trees hide the horizon where the brightest of colours can be seen."

Althalus spoke softly, kindly, not wanting to scare or frighten the stranger. Some, he had found, were easily frightened and often a misplaced word or comment sent them running. He didn't want this one to run, oh no. For one, she was a she and therefor a wonderful spot of company, and secondly he honestly didn't want to be alone. It had been quite a few days since his last encounter and a spot of company would do him some good.

Glancing up as the brush rustled off to one side, Sorai took a step backwards, even as Dele let out a little squeak of alarm and clutched at her mane. For all that he was something of a wild creature himself, something about the forest in the semi-darkness was frightening, in a way.

Once the flutter mare saw that it was another Soquili, though, she relaxed and dipped her head just a bit in response to his comments. Somehow, his words seemed to her to be some kind of subtle compliment to her as well... but she couldn't be sure.

In any case, it was only polite to reply, right..? And so she snorted softly, and said, softly, "That's true... the stars can be beautiful too, though."

However, the male didn't reply to her, just kept wandering on... and Sorai watched him go, then kind of shrugged. "Ah well. I guess he was distracted.
