The soft sound of humming was coming from the pantry. Beryl was looking through the shelves, picking up an odd jar or container from time to time.

The small pile of substances slowly grew until she was satisfied. Then she went about making a few notes in her journal, adding a few as she watched reactions between different herbs. Worthwhile studies in her eyes.

Sosiqui
The front door opened and Sosiqui staggered through, carrying a box that had been taped up with duct tape and bore the word 'STUFF' written on it in permanent marker on one side. She plopped it down atop another similar box that was next to the door, then flopped herself down on a chair.

Two boxes, one suitcase of clothes. Was that all she'd amassed that really MATTERED to her in all that time?

She'd closed the lease. The cheap furniture paid for the early-closing charge. It was done - and that made everything seem more final.

The smell of boiling herbs and flowers was coming from the kitchen space.

More of this, a pinch of that. Ah, so that's what happened. A hand darted quickly to scribble some notes. Now add a bit of this to the concoction and wait to see what happens.

Beryl was in one of her modes where the only things that were present to her were the boiling pot, the pile of herbs and her journal that kept all her notes. Still she smiled when she glanced at her bookmark, one of the little notes that had been left for her.

Sosiqui
After a few minutes to catch her breath, Sosiqui got up and wandered towards the kitchen, in need of a glass of water. She took a deep breath as she opened the door. "Smells nice... wait, that one doesn't," she added, wrinkling her nose as a whiff of not-so-pleasant scent wafted past.

Startled the goddess looked up as her hand knocked over the pot. The steaming liquid splashed over her hand and part of her leg. She couldn't help but curse a bit.

"Sorry about that. Trying to find some combinations for healing remedies. My host got me interested in them originally and I found them far too intriguing to drop. Pardon me." She rinsed her hand off in the sink, drawing a small hiss as the cold water hit her hand.

Sosiqui
"Ack..." She stepped forward and grabbed a dishrag, then bent down to mop the spilled liquid off the floor. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that..."

No worries, I'm immune to extreme temperatures. Basically for me it's like spilling water that smells a bit like tea." Chuckling a bit she dried off her hand and leg, scowling a bit when she saw the better part of the skirt had been splashed in the process.

"Pardon me for just a moment." She pulled a spare skirt from her bag and ducked into the pantry, returning a moment later in the clean skirt.

chaeval
"Ahoy!" came the shout from further up. Having defeated the god-killer in one guise, Byrne was forced himself to choose another.

Pirate.

Balancing on a peg leg was not easy, he had tried to surrender his faithful helmet to the fate of a peg-leg, but all it did was cramp his foot. The patch was much cooler.

Way much. And Pirates got to say cool things and growl a lot. But he needed a parrot. Buttercup just wasn't fashioned to sit on his shoulder. Besides, she couldn't flap her wings since she didn't have them, and couldn't squawk.

Sosiqui
When Beryl came back. Sosiqui had unconsciously edged over towards the window. The sunlight caught the light of the gem set into her neck, and she reached up absently and tapped it once before her hand dropped back down again. "I brought my things in. All two small boxes and one suitcase of it." She snorted. "The landlady eyed the gem and didn't say anything, but I know she was thinking it was odd. She told me to 'aim for your forehead next time'! I don't think he liked that much."

Ivynian
He hadn't thought much could pierce the haze of his tired mind, but the "cur-chunk clink!" of the small refrigerator jumping about was enough to echo up into his brain. Lucius growled, sitting up in his nest of pillows and blankets.

Then made his way down the spiral stair, hair covering the better part of both eyes.

"Well the landlady will learn soon enough. There should be room for you to store your belongings in my rooms for now if you'd like."

She rinsed out the skirt in the sink before stepping outside to let it hang dry.

Then she heard Byrne. "Oh my, now what?" There was a barely controlled chuckle in her voice.

Sosiqui
Sosiqui's eyes widened at the arrival of the two other gods... the red one she'd seen before, briefly, but not the other. She felt nervous...

... but why? She was carrying her own god now. She stood up straighter. "Hi?"

It was only a little shaky. She was proud.

chaeval
"Argghhhh mateys!" he jumped, rather than swaggered in to the room, Buttercup vainly trying to keep up. "Avast and behold! Swab the decks and walk the planks!"

He stopped.

"Or is that swab the planks and walk the decks?"

Draconayzia

Beryl almost fell over laughing at Byrne. "It's "Swab the decks" and 'walk the plank' Byrne.

She looked behind him to see the other god. "Ah Lucius, seems you were roused rather rudely." She gave him a gentle smile, moving to gently brush his hair from his face and guide him to a chair.

"You know, I don't think the 'bedraggled bed headed' look really suits you. Care for some food or tea so you look a little more lively?"

Ivynian
He eyed Byrne, ears flattening out to the sides.

"And can you recite the pirate alphabet?" He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back against the rail halfway down. He looked over through the shadowy blue to the other then, "Salutations, Light."

Sosiqui
Sosiqui peered closer at the fridge, again unconciously tapping at the jewel on her neck - then turned to Lucius, looking surprised. "My name is Sosiqui."

"My name is Light. In a sense."

Sosiqui clapped both hands over her mouth, looking shocked. Somehow that extra sentence had slipped out, chained to hers...

chaeval
He looked crestfallen at Lucius. "They have an alphabet?" he was more than disappointed. He was devastated. "But I thought they just shouted a lot and beat up things. Aw, darn."

At Byrne's reaction Beryl made a slightly rude noise and made an effort to stifle the sound with her hand. "Why would you want to be a pirate? There are other things too you know."

She gave Lucius a glance that hopefully showed she was trying to find the situation as humorous as possible.

Sosiqui
Sosiqui attempted to put the words she hadn't thought - but had still said - out of her mind, and peered at Byrne again. "Your parrot could use some wings. And crackers," she advised the deity.

Ivynian
"Ay, ee, aye, and Arrrrrrrrr, " He rolled the last in pirate fashion.

"That'll happen a bit, " He said switching back to the girl, "Hmm....I'm Lucius, glad to meet you. Moving in?"
He motioned his head to the boxes.

chaeval
He heard her, and was annoyed. "I don't need to tell you." he answered. "You never believe me anyway." Turning around, he grabbed Buttercup and pattered out of the room, vexed.

"Oh." She was startled. She had only asked the question out of curiosity, not malice. Mental note, don't ask Byrne questions.

Instead she turned her attention back to Lucius and Sosi. Maybe something better would come from their company.

Sosiqui
Sosiqui took in Lucius' wings and strange, swirly-mottled skin. Huh. "Yeah, I guess I am moving in... Beryl's letting me stay in her rooms until I can get some of my own... er... Light's own... something like that," she said, her voice trailing away into a confused mumble. "His name name isn't Light, but he won't tell me what it IS yet."

Ivynian
"Well, if you'd like your own, I could try to do something about that for you both, " he looked her over in mirror fashion to how she did him, then waggled his eyebrows, "Will you be keeping the duds or joining us naturalists?"

Sosiqui
Sosiqui turned crimson and took a step back. "I need my clothes right NOW," she mumbled. "Light can do what he likes later."

... he. She was a SHE. Was she going to... ack! Her eyes widened again. That was possibly CREEPIER than the idea of a god taking over her body... the idea of a god changing her gender!

Draconayzia
Hearing Lucius' last remark to Sosi on her way back from the kitchen she threw a washcloth at him. "Oh don't scare her away. Don't mind him, he's actually very sweet when he isn't all hair-brained."

Sosiqui
"I can hardly be scared away now," Sosiqui said. "If you wanted to do that you should have tried before I took on the jewel." Her tone was light, but it was obvious that something Lucius had said had somehow deeply bothered her.

Ivynian
He threw the towel back, grinning wide. He ran a hand back through his hair and arched his wings for emphasis, "Hair-brained would require less a cunning of thought then is needed to win blushes from fair maidens. "

He guffawed to himself, then waved his hand dismissively, "Seriously though, would you like an apartment of your own, to grow your new appendages and lose others at your discretion in private? "

Sosiqui
Sosiqui filed her thoughts away for future panicking. "Um... yes, yes, I would... whenever I can?" she told Lucius, trying not to blush at him. Stupid! Stupid hangups.

The jewel was laughing at her. Stupid jewel.

Draconayzia
Beryl caught the towel neatly and gave a small bow, backing from the room and making for her apartments. She just ... didn't feel right at the moment. Then again it's not like her apartments were any more private at the moment.

Maybe she'd need to experiment with creating a partitioned section just for her, as Eamnonn seemed to have done in his rooms.

Ivynian
"Well, then, sooner the better I suppose. Let's see what's behind door number one." He went over to the large door and knocked in a fashion more polite then his speech. His wings drooped immediately.

Draconayzia
Beryl watched from the top of the stairs. She didn't feel right rejoining the small group and she didn't feel right leaving. She just felt ... stuck.

Absently one of her hands moved to her pocket, fingering the familiar edge of one of the notes.

Sosiqui
Sosiqui trailed Lucius over and waited behind him, a bit awkwardly.

Ivynian
The door opened, Creation beyond dressed in long robes patterned in living cold flame. "Yes, Lucius? Ah, forgive me, and Light."

He nodded to Sosiqui.

Sosiqui
Sosiqui felt a bit uncomfortable as being referred to as Light again. She still was herself.... and she opened her mouth to tell Harmodius so.

[i>]I'm still Sosiqui, sir... The thought rang through her mind, but something else entirely came out of her mouth, in the strange not-quite-her voice that had happened before. It was as if her speech was utterly unconnected to her own thoughts.

"Lord of the gods," she said, although there was a hint of grumbling to that odd voice - like a petulant child irritated at recognizing someone was better than they were.

Ivynian
He quirked a smile, patting Lucius' shoulder as he passed, "Welcome back."

He bent and kissed the part of her neck above the jewel.

Lucius:

O.O

Sosiqui
Sosiqui flinched away reflexively, bringing her hand up to touch the place Harmodius had kissed. "Sorry," she mumbled. "Ah... um... Lucius said something about rooms?" She said that last part very fast, afraid that the crimson was creeping across her cheeks again.

Draconayzia
Beryl couldn't help but stare a bit from her perch. Realizing what she was doing she mentally slapped herself. It wasn't right for her t just stay there and 'eavesdrop'. Making a small bow in Harmodius' direction, regardless of whether or not he could see her, she made her way back from the top of the stairs.

She didn't return to her room though. Rather she looked over the few doors that were there. In time there would be more. Many more. Surprisingly she couldn't fathom how she would feel about that. What would it be like, to have so many back and congregated in one place?

Ivynian
"Of course, " He straightened and closed his eyes, the fires about him dancing along the floor wildly, "A door shall await you upstairs, directly across from Gianfar's. Platinum zoomorphic interlace filled with gems of every hue and clear glass. Form it to your wishes inside. "

Lucius:

He darkened, fisting his hands at his sides. why her?? why *him* even?

Sosiqui
Sosiqui blinked, then nodded. "Um... alright. I'm sure that will make sense when I see it. Thank you, er, my lord." She bowed her head respectfully.

"I will enjoy molding it. It has been so long." As before, the sentence just slipped out unbidden.

Ivynian
"Take ease, that you do not burn so fast and bright to join in ash and wax, " the words drew out slowly, only half a warning. Then the smile changed, and his attention seemed more for the girl then the god inside, "Welcome again, more succinctly into this house. I am glad of your choice, and of your presence."

He bowed to her, "Should you have any need, those here are mostly helpful. Quirky, but helpful. Or you may leave message with me, and I will aid you."

Lucius:

Lucius folded his wings against his back tightly, and went over to the boxes, ignoring the two completely. He lifted one and started for the stairs. Indeed.

Sosiqui
"Thank you," Sosiqui said again, and bowed again, before moving uncertainly towards the boxes. Better go check out this room, then - and get what things she had put in Beryl's room in the new place. "Thank you, too, Lucius," she added, scooping up the second box and the suitcase.
