Wow. That was..........nice.

Cloverfield, is one of those rare movies that I get so excited for, if it stinks, I'll kill someone. I haven't killed anyone yet, so the movie is pretty satisfying.

Lemmie break the good and the bad for you:

The movie prospective is very, very well done for the feel of this monster flick, giving you the sense that everything that is happening, is real time. To give off the impression that this is actually being watched, sometimes, the "video" skips ahead to the next scene, whilst in the middle of something, or even cut off to an unrelated part of the tape that was taped over the case designate. It also gives you a feel of how unlucky these guys really are.

The characters all feel natural, it's all something that you can get into without have that much of a back story(if any) at all, the romance tie in is a little cliched, but the action that makes up for, more than makes up for it.

Oh yeah, and Hud's Hilarious. Flaming Hobo's FTW!

Now, the Bad.

For one thing, Hud, steady hand man. The camera shakes so much, it's hard to get a view on what the ******** is actually happening. Sure, it's a handicam, and sure, the cameraman handling it is scared shitless 90% percent of the ordeal, but c'mon, someone get a steady view on that thing.

Another thing, these kids are not only unlucky, but just plain stupid. I mean, walking down a dark tunnel is mistake number one, frequently stopping and walking slow when you hear a sound is mistake number two, and then turning on the night vision and seeing the blood thirsty monsters, zooming in on them for about 5 seconds as they advance on you, then turning around and proceeding to walk away, and call it "running", is where I cry foul. It's not the movies fault, but hell, it gets annoying after about the 50th mistake, and we still haven't seen half the movie yet.

All in all, Cloverfield managed to have me satisfied that I actually went out to see the movie. Plus, I found out that J.J. is working on the Star Trek movie as well. Sweet.

OH MAI GAWD, CLOVERFIELD GETS AN 7.5/10!!!
