what is a cat?
1- cats do what they want.
2- they rarely listen to you.
3- they're totally unpredictable.
4- when you want to play, they want to be alone.
5- when you want to be alone, they want to play.
6- they expect you to cater to their every whime.
7- they're moody.
8- they leave hair everywhere.
CONCLUSION:
they are tiny women in little fur coats.

a cat is independant, dignified, curious, likes affection best when it's on her own terms, solitary, self-sufficient. I dont own cats.. my cats own me lol

Agreed. Cats are similer to people. They love others when they want love, and totally ignore you when it's 'me' time. whee Cats are the true 'Queen Bees'. LOL

I have met dog-like cats, in that they are friendly and just love people in general. They'll play when you want to, and they seem to act more on your terms than their own. These cats, however, are few and far between...

The difference between a dog and a cat:
The dog thinks, "These people feed me, they love me, they give me shelter...they must be gods!"
The cat thinks, "These people feed me, they love me, they give me shelter...I must be God!"

I think the real question is if Schroedinger's cat is really alive or not. But that's a different topic entirely! So nevermind. X3

I must say that I don't quite agree with what you say

Yes cats are odd and sometimes do what they want
But if they do everything they want your not a good owner

I've had up to six cats at a time ((Though I've only got one now))
And every cat I've had has had sense beaten into them
They know what they can and can't do
Heck I've taught a lot of cats how to sit!!

My current cat is an outside cat
Though she likes to be inside
But she knows not to poop in the floor
Knows who to leave alone
And she also knows that if she falls asleep she can stay in longer

And if they leave a lot of hair everywhere you may need to take it to a vet
Cats shed, yes
But if their pelts are properly taken care of you'll rarely see a whole lot of fur

Cats are smart
But if you let them do whatever they want and never give them discipline
They will use their brains to control you
Really though, any cat can be taught what they can and cannot do

oh please, they wont really "control" you. they're just highly independant. it's their nature. they can be trained, but it's best done when they're young. I could never beat my cats... swat them on the head or a** if they're doing something they shouldnt.. maybe squirt them with a water gun if I want them to stop sharpening their claws on something, but I'm not interested in making them "sit" on command. I want my cat to act like a cat, not a dog.

Cats are not!
It may be their nature at times
But they're truly tiny people
None of them quite independent

And thats what I meant by beat it
You don't honestly think any animal lover would 'beat' down a little cat
But swatting to a cat my very well feel like a beating depending how close it is to its owner
I know if I barely tap my cat now she instantly starts licking me to say sorry
But she normally has brains enough to know what she can't do

And the sit thing was out of free time
Plus she gets a treat or a scratch behind the ears
The training isn't just when its young
I've done it when they were past the kitten stage and such

I don't want my cat acting like a dog
But I sure wouldn't let it do whatever the hell it wants

well, ok. when I read "beat some sense into em" I got worried lol
I also have a cat that's somewhat like a dog. he's more needier than most, tho a bit timid. he's my maine coon. someday I might endeavor to train a kitten to use the toilet lol I've heard it can be done, but it takes a lot of work and patience. I wouldnt have the faintest idea of how to go about it tho.

I understand

And though my cat is good
She loves a lot of attention..
I thought about training her how to use the toilet
But she has a short intention span
So sit and come is about the only things she knows
And I really don't feel like touching a toilet no matter how clean it is!!

(found on book mark) Cats never got over being worshiped as gods in Egypt.
My cat will come when I snap my fingers, but I hate it when she lays on my books....
