Usufii was actually enjoying these seemingly empty lands. The bright male hadn't been sure what to think when his mother informed him that they were to be moving here, but Usufii already knew that the move was a necessity. His family had been... for lack of a better word, mutinied upon. Betrayed by it's own blood, and there was no honor left in the lands the had barely come to know. Even at a young age, Usu was very exposed to the facts. He, after all, was a descendant of true royalty, not the false kings they had in the Pridelands. Usufii was already falling in love with the Pride, he could almost say he'd be willing to die for it, though he was only just a cub, dying wasn't on his agenda for anytime soon.
Usu had been given the freedom to wander anywhere he wanted within the lands, though his mother had told him to stay away from the rivers to the north and South of the lands. There were crocodiles, and it was too close to the borders for her comfort anyway. So he sat just outside the termite mounds, watching the little insects take to the sky randomly, clouds of them forming and then breaking apart. Usu's eyes danced at the sight, it was so... unique! His tail flicked and he smirked at the idea that had just crept into his head... There was a tall mound ahead, but it had a small slope, it was easily climbable. Plan for the day? Get to the top. And with that, Usufii started to run towards the mound, uncaring of whatever might see him.

((I didn't know how much interaction they probably would have had so I just kind of had it as though they hadn't actually had a conversation before)) Ghubari had no clear memories that existed in any outside "world" other than that of the Outlands. The termite mounds were a familiar landmark, each with its own unique "fingerprint". He knew which ones were abandoned and offered a nice hideout and those that were overactive and best to stay away from unless he wanted those nasty buggers swarming all over him. Termites were not his favorite household pet.
Being the lazy bugger that he was, he was actually lounging beneath a collection of termite mounds. A bridge between two mounds created a sort of shelf beneath which he lounged. Rodents and reptiles among other nocturnal animals had moved in and occasion he could rat them out and find himself a nice lunch. Another lion would probably scoff at him, that he tried his teeth on reptiles. But he was lazy and thus couldn't afford to be picky. He had a wet-nurse and a half-sister who looked into their well-being but he didn't like to show how much he depended on them that much. He tried to appear to be the strong male he felt he needed and was supposed to be.
But speaking of his wet-nurse, he saw her familiar yellow pelt and shot to his feet. He had been toying with a small mouse and thought to show it to her. There certainly was a bond he felt towards Noyana like most children did towards their mothers. However, as previously stated, he didn't like people to know that ...and he didn't even acknowledge it like that. Trotting up to her he found indeed it was not a she but a he ...it was her son. He hadn't talked to the cub so he didn't know anything about him ...not really.

((I like that idea. :3))
Usufii's ear flicked at the sound of another approaching and he screeched to a stop. He turned his emerald eyes on the other cub with a mouse. This was an uncle of his, though Usu was really older than him. (Only a little, but still older.) He'd seen the cub before and knew his name, but hadn't ever talked to him. This was the perfect chance. "Hey Ghubari, nice mouse!" He said. His mother had tried to teach him to hunt, but he wasn't particularly fond of it and was taking more and more to exploring the lands, getting to know every fold. Who knew how important it'd be in the future?
Unlike Ghubari, Usufii only knew a lot about the one termite mound that they lived in. He knew very little about the uninhabited termite mounds. "Whatcha up to?" He asked, tilting his head.

Ghubari had the faintest memory that this yellow cub was his nephew but... that just made Ghubari feel old? Silly? He wasn't quite sure just that he wasn't necessarily comfortable thinking of himself as an uncle.
With the other's question, he saw a nice opening. The cub seemed of the rather innocent, nice type. And so, Ghubari found it the perfect opportunity to flaunt his ego just a little bit. He loved himself and he didn't mind trying to get others to do the same. The day others loved him as much as he did himself would be the end of his quest. It might be the day he dies but, he thought to himself, at least he'd have got what he wanted.
Facing the other, a smile on his face, he laughed just a little. "Oh not too much. Just lounging about under a termite mound and lured a mouse into my grasp. You'd be surprised at how gullible they are. Just a couple false promises and then BAM there they go. It's that easy.
"Well what about you? Why you out here?"

"Cool," Usufii said with regards to the mouse. "I've never tried to catch a mouse, but I'm sure it's fun."
"Oh, I was just heading up there..." Usu said, turning his head to the mound that he'd been intending to explore. "I wanted to see what the view was like from the top of it. I'm pretty sure it's abandoned, I haven't seen any swarms there ever." He finally turned his eyes back to the other cub. "You wanna come? It'd be fun," He said, trying to get his uncle to come with him. While Usu would never admit it, he enjoyed company more than he did being alone most of the time. Especially family.
This was one thing he loved most about the Outlands- there were no idiots. Nobody was so stupid to make him have to pretend to like them, he genuinely liked everyone he'd met.

Ghubari eyed him quizzically. Of course there were no termites there. It had been abandoned for a long time although from its size, it had probably also been in use for even longer. "Like I would..." he caught his sarcasm before it doomed him.
"Yea, sure. I'm come," he said, correcting himself. Ghubari liked the company of others. But he was used to being around those who would have him pretend otherwise. Most lions in the Outlands expected those around them to be strong and independent, although still obeying the dictatorship that was his half-sister. So around his siblings, he tried to hide his desires to come and hang out with them, only going at the very last minute and making it appear as though he were forced to and had no other choice.

Usufii was quite accustomed to the attitude. He could act as if he didn't care, oh, he was good at it. Unlike Ghubari, Usufii had had the chance to practice his apathy on real Pridelanders. He was quite good at it, and could go alone if he needed, but he didn't need to. Simple as that. The cub shrugged off the attitude as if it was nothing and padded a forward a little.
"I love this place, don't you? There's so much cooler stuff to see than there were in those stupid lands," he spat, jerking his head in the direction of the Pridelands. "All to see there were idiots. At least everyone's smart here, and if you wanted to be alone, you could do so easily," he ranted. He wasn't sure if Ghubari would remember the Pridelands.

Ghubari blinked. He clearly wasn't used to being addressed in such an openly friendly tone. But unlike Usu, he couldn't sing the praises of this land in comparison to another. Sure it was great and sure he had lived in the Pridelands for a little while but having never stored a memory that existed outside the den except for when they moved here, he didn't really consider the Pridelands in his thoughts at all. As a matter of fact they were a little bit below his thoughts as if not worth thinking about at all.
"We can be alone because there aren't that many of us," he muttered bitterly. "But we'll grow in numbers eventually. Enough to blot out their precious sunny sky." Of course, he had only heard bad things about the Pridelanders and their proudness. Only heard them talked about and ridiculed in the same breath. So he could only do the same. "But anyway, what was this termite mound you were talking about? I know them all."

Usufii smiled what could easily be described as his first truly malicious smile- teeth glimmering in the sun and a low, wicked chuckle coming from his chest. The idea of blotting out their sunny sky... Ah, he loved it. Yes, the pride would grow. Usu only had bad memories with Pridelanders- he deemed them lacking in the brain department. Ok, they were morons to him, but it didn't make a difference to him. Weak in the brain doesn't make you good for much, so he didn't like them much at all. He had no tolerance for utter immaturity and stupidity.
Luckily, there was none of that here and the smile was gone like that.
"I've been wanting to go to the top of that one," he said, pointing a claw at the dome. "I figure it's relatively easy to climb, and high enough to get a good vantage point on the land, find some good places to explore," he said smoothly, waiting for his uncle's response.

He smiled amused but with a strong hint of mischievousness. Climb a termite mound. Well, he had never done that before. He didn't much like the critters that made these mounds nor did he like the heat on a cloudless day in the dry season. But he supposed that they could climb one if they really wanted to. After all, they were Taka's blood and they were lions. There wasn't much that could stop them if they put their minds to it.
So of course, he now thought of climbing it for the joy of climbing it, not so much for the sake of seeing the sights. But whatever. If he wanted to make it into an adventure, so be it. He supposed he could manage. This little nephew of his wasn't too annoying, grating, but nor was he packed with an ego that tried to force its "greatness" on him so he had nothing to complain about in the company department to make him want to refuse. "Alright, I'll race ya!"

"Alright, awesome!" Usufii said with a pleased smirk. This had been what the cub had hoped for. It'd be better to climb with someone than without- anyone could figure that out. He turned his gaze fully onto the mound before him and lowered his front half, tail flicking behind him preparing for a race. Usufii had two strong parents, and therefore was strong himself, he was confident that he could hold his own against his competitor. He guessed that they had to be relatively equally matched.
"Ready? Set..." He prepared for "launch," eyes scanning the early part of the mound planning his ascent.
"GO!" He said before taking off, keeping a watch on his uncle out of the corner of his eye.

Ghubari narrowed his eyes and put on a sly grin, crouching low to the ground. At the go, he shot off towards the destination. He was so focused that he did not notice if he led or if he trailed behind. However, he was most likely heavier since he spent so little time moving around. These bursts of energy were uncommon although welcome. So he might have been disadvantaged. As it was, he could have a harder time climbing since he had never tried and had a lack of grace.
"I'm gunna make it," he shouted in glee as the mound came close and turned to see where he stood in the race.

Usufii shot off at the go as did Ghubari. Each footfall was short-lived, Usufii had been moving quickly and smoothly. He was scrawnier than Ghubari was from his constant playing and wrestling with his brother, Valse. He pushed himself to run harder; Usufii was a natural sprinter, but as his sprint ran out, he found himself falling even with his uncle. He checked ahead to see how far it was, they were just about to hit the low slope that made up the base of the termite mound. "I'm gonna make it too!" Usu hollered back competitively. It all hinged on whether or not his uncle was capable of making a sprint, and whether he could push himself any more. He pushed a little bit, but had lost a lot of energy in that last sprint. He still pushed with all he had.
