The shop was quiet as Punctuality, professional cat and amateur lawyer, nosed open a heavy book entitled 'MODERN LAW' in imposing print. With some difficulty, she flipped it to the first page with her paws, leaving a few accidental claw marks as she scrabbled to push over the thin pages. Finally, with a purr of achievement, she began to read the first page, tail curled around her as she enjoyed the evening.

Nook wandered astray, not really caring where it was he ended up as he made his way through another uneventful day. Letting out a deep sigh, he found himself in his usual corner, beside a warm sunny patch on the floor. Letting his joints relax, he spread himself across the floor. With the warmth of the sun upon him he closed eyes and thought back to the days when he'd last spoken to another cat. He remembered a gray cat of sorts, one that could find interesting subjects to talk about. But he couldn't remember her name as it had been a long while since they'd last met.

Fiori padded into the shop, enjoying (for the umpteenth time) her elder-dom. Not that she'd ever felt that the term "elder" suited her - if anything, it was insulting - but she went along with it, if only for lack of a better word to use. But it wasn't as though she publicly referred to herself as an elder; there wasn't any need to do so: if her larger-than-average size weren't enough to clue others in, instincts could usually be relied on to do the job. Cat's instincts, at least, her fellow allies didn't need to go further than the size comparison to know that she was different.
The raccoon noticed another cat, one who seemed to be immeresed in a large, intimidating book. "What'cha reading?" she asked, trying to read the print upside-down.

Punctuality looked up and saw an interesting looking raccoon looking over at her large book. She bristled. Recently she had been trying to read law books alone, as when she read them in public, people gave her odd looks that hadn't bothered her as a kitten but were now beginning to make her self concious. However, it was too late to hide, so she fessed up. "It's a law book." she said in her dry, flat voice. "Are you interested in law at all?" As she said this, she saw another figure approaching. A brown figure. He stirred up a twinge of recognition in her and she bristled even more as she remembered an amiably charming cat she had met here many months ago. Of all the people to se her reading a law book! "Butthat'sallnotimportant, let'stalkaboutsomethingelse." she said in the speedy drawl lawyers use to say something they don't like to so that people won't notice it so much. She kicked the book under a couch with her hindpaws. "My name is Punctuality, and you are...?"
