A closer look at...
(Will have more added as story progresses!)

Tamarye Swiftfoot, veteran explorer

VARCUSIA

Population: Approximately 2000
Mayor: Tezram Vein. Mr. Vein, or Tezram to his friends, is known to be a strict but fair individual. He levies taxes regularly, but never more than the people can pay.
Military strength: 25 trained soldiers, 75 militia members
Caravan times: Arrivals on the 2nd and 5th of each week. Departures on the 4th and 7th.
Most popular Inns: The Stardust, The EMpyrean, The Luminesque
Most popular Taverns: The Bear's Head, The Tilted Tankard, The Saucy Wench
Prices: Weapons and other travelling equipment is half price. Food and other living items is four times the listed price. Everything else remains as listed.

Varcusia is a growing village, as more people are borne and stay within the city's walls. Due to ever-increasing monster attacks, very few people ever leave Varcusia, save when the regular caravans leave. As such, the city is rather crowded, and prices of regular day-to-day expenses are rising, while travelling gear is bought less and less.
Up until now, the two dozen trained soldiers were strong enough to fight off the occasional monster attack. But recently, monsters have been growing more and more aggressive, and more soldiers have been appointed into an impromptu second, third and fourth battle groups. They are un trained as of yet, but they have heart.
Varcusia, like most villages, has all the features one would expect, from a secretive wizarding guild, several temples to various deities, even a small offshoot of the Thieves' Guild. (Of course, that one is difficult to find!) There are weapon shops, inns, taverns, gambling dens, a hospital (D&D equivalent, that is!), smithies, and all manner of other businesses. As well as those that are best left unnamed. There are also numerous homes, clustered close together due to the difficulty in expanding the city's borders.
