 Any other shadowpriests go through this several times a day? I should really get an add-on that auto-replies. If their message contains the words "heal" or "holy," reply with "SHADOW KTHX."

Unless you're in Outlands, you can heal anyways. It's called going out of Shadowform. I like Shadow priests, but if a healer is more necessary, you should just right click the shadowform buff on your buff bar and press flash heal.

Priests who aren't spec'd into holy at all can't heal anything past non-heroic Tempest Keep 5-mans decently. They also tend to not have very good healing gear.

My main is a shadow priest. She has no points in Holy and does not carry a healing set. Her damage and healing gear gives her more healing than a lot of healers on my server (obviously not the good ones though xp ), but even so, being specced for it does make a difference, and there is no way she could heal through anything heroic and up.
What bothers me about the "u wana heel 4 me?" whispers is that people don't even ask if I am holy first. Yeah, if you want me to heal through Gruul's or something, my spec might be an important first question. xp I always turn down pugs anyway though now that my guild is large and active enough (thank goodness).

Just say no... Unless its something you really want, then l2respec! :p
My priest was holy all the way untill 70, so I never really experienced trying to heal low level instances as shadow... I doubt theres much of a difference pre-60 considering all the gear is the same regardless of spec.
As a spriest now, I can heal any non-heroic without respeccing, or I can heal heroics in the bit of healing gear Ive picked up if I respec. I dont mind respeccing for friends in dire need of healing ^_^

Learn to bite the bullet and click off sform. You shouldn't have a problem with anything before the nonheroic TK 5mans. Ask if you can need healing gear if no one else wants it. Have a healing set.
But if you REALLY dont want to heal, don't.
It should be a matter of won't, not can't.
On a side note, that comic is pretty cool-lookin

I think people misunderstood the original post. I am aware, and I assume the original poster is too, that we can get out of shadowform. She never complained about that. She's just venting about people asking us to heal. Even in shadowform, I get asked to heal Kara and Gruul's. eek
The point is that if we wanted to heal, we probably wouldn't have gone shadow, so it's not about learning to respec or sucking it up and healing. It's just a little annoying to get five whispers a day asking us to do something that we pretty much already said we don't want to do by the simple fact that we are shadow. I am used to it, but I can certainly relate to the original poster. I don't collect a healing set because I don't want one.
I would not mind if people said, "Hey, are you holy? If so, we're looking for a healer for ____. You're welcome to come if you want." That would be fine with me. I would politely tell them I shadow and don't want to heal. That's never the way it is though. That is what the original post was about, those annoying, "hey, u heel 4 me?" whispers multiple times a day. xp
So sure, I can get out of shadow and heal for a nonheroic, but why in heaven's name would I want to? As I said, if I wanted to heal, I would not be shadow. Secondly, why bother with nonheroics? xp
Now sure, if I am in a heroic and the main healer dies, I will pick up the healing. But for someone to ask me to be the main healer without the spec and gear to support it suggests that they probably don't know much about the game, and I should probably not group with them either way. xp

i know leveling my priest in outlands, i'd sometimes just leave groups if the leader was like 'ok priest is gonna have to heal'. i know i can, it's simply that i just wouldn't want to.
though i did heal 5mans on some occasions.

If they actually treat me like a person and ask nicely, then I don't consider it spam, I consider it a conversation. And conversations can lead to friendships or new guildies. blaugh

Welcome to the plight of any class that has healing spells. Ask a Druid, or a Paladin, or a Shaman what they think about situations like this.

BG's are probaly the worst.
When your topping HK's and KB's in AV and people flip out when you dont heal them that pisses me off.
Im doing more for thsi game then you are so bust out those bandages and heal me b***h!
Healing classes that ask for healing are funny like Enhancement shamans complaining about not getting heals from a Elemental shamans.
Or when your in the middle of fighting and some guys is like "Heal me!"
Fighting 3 players at once and they jsut expect you drop everything and heal them.

Lol.
Just got my priest to 58 last night, so obviously, got to Thrallmar...
The moment i landed, a level 62 said "Wanna heal Ramparts? we got a 70"....
He was stood in front of me, i had shadowform on.
I just replied "Im in shadowform... Im level 58... And due to the fact ive only just got here, my gear isnt efficient and i can guarantee that my mana is too crappy to heal you for more then half a minute".
His reply? "Exactly you can get new items there which are better".
I just walked away. Lol.

I'm not shadow so meh.
But a lot of times I do get "plz. disc priests cant heal lolz"
...OH YEAH? SAY THAT TO MY +1500 BONUS HEALING! >:U
