It had been a long while since that night Cyr had run into the scruffy looking kitsusagi that had seemed so familiar and during that time, the other's presence had settled on the Shifter-turned kitsu such that he missed the big-eared male when he wasn't around. Through gentle suggestions and patience on Arcanos' part, Cyr had come to terms with the fact that he wasn't from around the Realm. That he'd somehow been bumped into this land and his memory wiped.
However, even though Arcanos was now a familiar face and welcome presence, Cyr didn't understand why the other had insisted on sticking by him. He couldn't remember what their ties were, though he knew they had them and as such treated Arcanos as a close friend. Still.... sometimes Cyr found himself wanting more then just friendship.
Which resulted in him out with Arcanos yet again but instead of talking as they normally did, he'd wandered off to simply watch the other from a nearby rocky outcrop. Thoughtful and pensive, he flicked his tails and fluttered his wings. It was a shame Arcanos couldn't fly - that was something he enjoyed doing and would have like to share with his friend.

Well... it was at least encouraging that Cyr was willing to spend more time with him now - though Arcanos couldn't help but wish that his mate remembered more. Like.... the fact that he was his mate. That'd be nice.
He'd noticed that Cyr had wandered off a little while ago, but wasn't aware he was being watched. Having spent the last few weeks taking a little better care of himself, he wasn't quite so scraggly and such now, though his fur had the tendency to get tangled and snarled up - especially on tails.
And at the moment he was sort of flopped on the ground, kind of half-heartedly attempting to work out a tangle with claws and teeth - spitting out dirt and fur every few minutes.

For a moment Cyr watched the other groom before wrinkling his nose and shaking his head. Rising, he glided back over and nudged the other's shoulder with his nose, "Works better if you use water, you know." He quirked a brow, wondering why anyone might want to eat their own fur... "You need a bath."
He had noticed an improvement in the other's appearance, but really... had he even bothered to go swimming...? "You do know how to swim, right?" He'd learned how a long time ago... He got one of those confused looks on his face then huffed, "Wait... you taught me, didn't you?" He smiled and nudged the other again, "Go swimming then. I'll help - but after you've washed."

Arcanos blinked at the other, turning head to spit out a little more fur before replying. "Uhm. That's probly a good idea actually," he said, looking slightly embarrassed. To be honest, he hadn't even really thought much about it - having gotten used to this more animal-like body fairly quickly.
And normally most animals that had sense didn't go jumping into lakes and rives on a regular basis. At least.... he didn't think so. Right?
"So I guess we should be finding some water, then?" he asked, getting up and shaking himself a bit - glancing around.

He nodded, and pointed in the direction of a little lake he knew of. "There's a lake over that way..." Without waiting for the other, he started off at a sort of quick trot, tails swishing from side to side.
Cyr found he'd like a bath as well. Which meant taking his strange clothing off but that was minor. He had fur, after all. Forgetting himself, he leaped into the air and pumped his wings a few time to gain height. It'd be quicker if he flew to the lake.

Arcanos started after the other with a grin as Cyr took off almost-running, apparently also eager to get to the lake.
When the other took off, though... Arcanos considered Shifting to fly after him but decided against it. For one thing, he wasn't for sure he could take off very well from a flat spot like this. And for another, he didn't want to end up shocking Cyr so that he crashed or something...

He mostly kept in sight but disappeared several times only to circle back around, "Wish you could fly..." He murmured after one particular pass then seemed to perk as their quick pace brought them to the lake's edge only a few minutes later.
Setting down on the edge, he wait to make sure Arcanos had successfully followed him before attempting to get out of his clothing. It was always difficult getting the snaps undone and he grumbled as he fiddled with the fasteners.

Arcanos's ears flicked back for a moment at those words, but he said nothing for the moment, just kept going until they did get to the lakeside.
Then he watched for a moment as Cyr struggled with his clothes before padding over with a slight smile and starting to help the other. "Here... let me..."

Cyr frowned and shook his head, "I can do it..." Eyeing Arcanos, he moved to shift away but paused, "Why?" He didn't understand. They were just friends... flicking his tails and turning ears forward, he focused his attention on Arc. "You don't have to..." Why did the other always insist on such acts of familiarity? It didn't help Cyr... well, he enjoyed the attention but still.

Arcanos just bit at one of the straps and pulled to loosen it, following when Cyr tried to move away. "Just a second... almost," he murmured, strap still in mouth - trying to be careful not to rip it or anything.
"There!" Dropping it, he stepped back a little. "Should come off now, I think... and it's because I want to."

Cyr quirked his lips, dancing to the side again, then stumbled as his shirt came loose and sagged around his paws, "You didn't have to, you know." He murmured, indignant. "I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself."
However, he shrugged out of the shirt and stripped down to just fur quickly enough, attitude obviously one of trying to show Arcanos his help hadn't been needed. Wading into the water, he sank onto his belly and lay on the sandy bottom. "I'm not the one in need of a bath, are you not going to come in?" The words were cast over his shoulder.

Arcanos nodded at that, and quickly shrugged off his own looser clothing before slipping into the water as well. "I'm coming, I'm coming," he said, with a bit of a laugh in his voice.
Then he backed up and proceeded to jump into the water - making a huge splash just because he could.

Cyr cried out as a wall of water sloshed over him and came out wet and with a displeased expression on his face. "You...." The glare didn't last long as Arcanos' mood was infectious and his frown cracked into the slightest grin. Tossing his head, he tried to remain frowning but the effect had been lost. "You are a pain."
Sending a half-hearted splash the other's way, Cyr returned to his soak and closed his eyes to enjoy the sun-warmed water. After several long moments, he spoke, "I'm sorry I don't remember more then I do.... you must be so frustrated..." It was the first time he'd really mentioned any sort of regret about being unable to give Arcanos what he wanted... that he'd been as of yet unable to put the puzzle together. Sighing, he settled his head onto his paws and blew bubbles, ears laid back against his head.

Arcanos grinned at the other and ducked that splash with a delighted sort of laugh. He cut out the playing then, though, blinking at what Cyr said. about not remembering.
Moving over closer, he rested his head atop the other's for a moment. "It's all right Cyr... I hope that you will eventually remember. But even if not... I'm perfectly willing to start all over from where we are right now."

Cyr blinked and looked up, lifting his a little as the other rested his head on the Shifter's. "Mmm? Start over...?" He'd begun to guess at the meaning to Arcanos' words. It made him smile but at the same time it drew a weary sigh from him, "You... we... We were something more weren't we? I don't remember... but it's the only reason I can think of that you'd have stuck by me these last few weeks..." There was a sorrowful tone in his voice, "I'm sorry... I... I just don't know..."
He didn't move away from the other, however, taking comfort in Arcanos' presence. It was familiar and soothing but new at the same time and it always made Cyr feel conflicted.
