User ImageCrystal Spring Oasis Much of the magic and legends of the SandPainters stems from the grand desert. Though vast and mostly desolate there is much treasure that can be found in the beauty of its canyons, buttes, and cliffs that lay within its boundaries. It’s the second largest area on the whole island and at its very heart lays the SandPainters Canyon. Many familiars can be found in this area. There are popular oasis areas around the buttes where Painters like to gather to relax.

The largest of these is the Crystal Spring Oasis, where clear, cold water bubbles from the burning sands of the Desert, forming streams and ponds in a pattern much like that of an Orb Weavers web. Many do not spot the springs themselves until they come down to look for shade among the trees around it, the water so clear that it looks simply like more desert. However, once there, the springs healing properties take the burn of the travel over the desert away in its cool ripples. Many Sandpainters lay in the streams, and the water will wash over them, driven to the heart of the springs and not letting those resting in their path stop them. This causes a pleasing sensation and is very relaxing, especially after a long flight.

In the center, there is a large sinkhole, filled with the cool water. Because of the clarity of the water, those who look into the depths can see for over a mile down on a clear noon.
