 It was a beautiful, sunny morning above the clouds and Chaser was doing his favorite thing: flying. He would dive down at a small cloud, and chase the bits when it fragmented, or dive through larger clouds just to feel the cool water on his fur. When he was flying, life couldn't be better.
It was just as well he had this freedom, because life on the ground was far from pleasant. He had just recently left his family, due to a... misunderstanding with his parents. It had been painful, and only when he was airborne was he able to forget all his worries and be happy. He had yet to find somewhere to settle down, though he was far enough from his parents land to start looking. Which, he reminded himself, he should be doing. He tilted his wings, getting ready to dive bellow the clouds again so he could search for a suitable area.

 Beauty had spent the morning reeling among the clouds as she often did. The skies were a comfort that many of her kind didn't share. Of that she was sorry for them. She could never imagine being grounded, never. There was too much freedom in flight.
She swerved up though a cloud so was very startled when some other flying creature brushed passed her. She caught the sight of an orange tinge and tore after it. She had to know what was flying besides her. Birds weren't usually up this high.

Chaser was passing through an especially large cloud when he felt another nearby, and saw a flash of blue, white, and orangy-brown. He knew other winged Kylan existed, but they were quite rare, and regular Kylan did not always like being around them. He thought maybe because they were jealous, since they were land-bound while their winged brethren were not.
If this was another of his kind, and not just some large bird, perhaps they could help him find a place to call his own. Thee was something to be said for the security of a place that was your own. He dipped below the clouds, hoping to spot his fellow flier.

Quickly she dived in the directing she thought the tinge had gone. She popped back out of the bottom of the cloud and was surprised to see a yellow-orange Kylan looking up at her. She jerk out of her dive and flapped a few times to hover above him. Winged Kylan were a rare sight in this world bird ones like her were even rarer. She'd assumed she was the only one around for miles.
But here. Right in front of her. Was one. And she wasn't quite sure how to react.

Chaser dodged when the other Kylan came out of the clouds practically on top of him. He hovered, getting a better look at her now that the clouds did not block his view. He was surprised to find another bird-winged Kylan, for they were not common, but he was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
"Hullo." He said, hoping to bring the other out of her evident shock, and make a good impression. If she could live here in peace, it was a good indication that so could he - if he did not upset her first.

She pulled full consciousness back the fluttered to hover beside ans slightly in away from him - it was indeed a him - so she wouldn't be practically on top of him. "Uh...hello. I didn't know you lived around here." Lame. Why was she being lame? No Kylan have ever flustered her before. But then no Kylan had really been on her level before. This one could fly beside her. That was entirely different.

"Oh, I don't. Well, not yet. I was hoping to, though. Is there any good un-claimed territory nearby? I don't want to intrude or anything, you see." He knew he was babbling, but he couldn't help it. Even without the wings, she would have been beautiful. The light brought out amazing highlights in her fur, and she colors were unlike anything he had ever seen before. That she had wings, could join him in the sky, only made her all the more interesting.
"Pardon my lack of manners, I'm Chaser. Ace for short." It sounded lame, now, but it had been his nickname for as long as he could remember, from a time when family had been a happy place. And besides, he didn't really see any better way of shortening his name. "May I inquire as to your name, fair lady?"

Do you even know how much I love that name? It's like one of my favorite names in the whole world. [/random]))
She blinked at him several times. She still wasn't sure that he was truly real. But she did relpy to him. After looking him over throughly. He wasn't beautiful like she was but somehow she didn't care. He had feathered wings. And that made all the difference. "My name is Beauty." She grew restless so she few a circle around him while she answered his first question. "We are flying Kylan. Territory has no meaning for us. We can live were we want because of what we are." Will you decide to live near me? The unasked question hung in her mind but she continued on. "The ground Kylan care little about us."

((I actually hadn't planned it. I just like my Kylan to have at least one possible nickname, if their name is not already very short, and Ace was all I could come up with. Glad you approve. xd ))
Ace spun to keep the beautiful female in site. "And a beauty you are, too." He responded, instantly regretting it. What if she thought him too forward? He was aware that, except for his wings, he was nothing special when it came to looks. He had to make up for it in personality if he hoped to win her affection, or at least friendship. "And while we may fly, territory is nice, in that it provides a safe den to sleep in, and food to fill our bellies. There is something to be said for that." We can live where we want... does that mean I might live by you, fair creature? For that is what I want.

She stopped twirling a stopped in front of him. "You really think I'm pretty? The other Kylan ignore me. I had always wondered what I looked like in their eyes." She bobbed in the air then turned toward ground. "Flying has made em hungry. I've been flying all morning. Join me?" She flapped to a slightly lower altitude then stated to babble. "You can have a home without territory. Like how I live one a beautiful cave on a ledge. The forrest is an awesome sight from there. Sometimes you can watch the others form the edge and other times you can see things in the sky. Always too far off for to to know if it's bird or kylan but still very pretty." She was amazed at how easily she could talk to him after getting over her shock. It was so refreshing to have someone like you around. She smiled happily and spun her way to the ground.

Ace blushed slightly beneath his fur. "Of course, you are beautiful. If they ignore you, it must be out of jealousy for your looks and your wings." Beauty seemed to have recovered, if her talkativeness was any indication. Ace was glad, he had been afraid he might scare her off. "I would love to join you. I've been flying a while myself, and have worked up a decent appetite."
"Your home sounds lovely. I've never tried living in a cave on a cliff. It makes sense, only something else with wings can get to you there." He thought he might like such a home.

She turned her head to look at him. He was in fact serious and she blushed because of it. "Thank you. But they are jealous creatures aren't they? Through they shouldn't be. I would give them wings if I could, to fly the skies as I do." She frowned for a minuet then perked up as they reached the ground. "My home is lovely." And lonely "And your right. I am safe for the most part up there. Did you know there are other caves there too? Bigger and smaller ones dotted along the cliff wall. Perhaps maybe they were interconnected at one time. I'm not sure. But they are fun to explore." She trotted over to a nearby berry bush and began to carefully pick off the fruit. They were lovely and sweet.
She thought now as she ate that maybe she should be afraid of him. Maybe not so trusting. Just because he had wings didn't automatically mean he had good intentions. But she was disinclined to be guarded around him. She wasn't sure if that could be her undoing.

"I too, for the joy of flight is not one I would deny to any if I could." Ace landed gracefully beside Beauty, his mouth watering as he espied the plump, juicy berries on the nearby bushes.
"There are more caves?" Was she perhaps offering? Indicating that she might not mind entirely if her were to stick around? He knew how lonely being a winged Kylan could be, but not all minded the solitude. "Might you... be willing to have a neighbor?" He tried to act calm, delicately plucking a berry from the bush with his teeth. however, the berry burst, sending juices trailing down his chin. Oh great. That was smooth.

A smile spread wide over her muzzle when he popped the juice all over his face. Cute, if not handsome then definitely cute. And he wanted to live near her. Her heart soared. Faining outright surprise she replied to him, "A neighbor? What a novel idea." She bowed he her in mock modesty. "But only if you think you could stand to live near me. I'm not wonderful all the time." When she was finished she tuned back to the bush, hoping he'd taken her act as truth.

Ace grinned, perfectly willing to laugh at himself. He cleaned up what he could with his tongue, and then used a paw to finish washing the juice off his face.
"I find it hard to believe that you are ever less than wonderful, my lady." he teased. Though, was it truly teasing if it was the truth? He followed her lead, and this time managed to eat the berries without getting them all over his face.
