YOU MUST NOT QUIT

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns;
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow;
You may succeed with another blow!

Success is failure turned inside out.
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when its seems so far.
So stick to the right when you're hardest hit,
When things seem worst, you must not quit.

Once upon a time there was a man named BOB,
His life wasn't great,
His wife ate like the backyard hog.
His kids were brats,
his dog was lazy,
the broken alarm clock drove him crazy.
He prayed for God to change his life.
To change his kids,
to change his wife.
He even prayed for God to change his dog,
the alarm clock,
and the backyard hog.
When he woke up his life was better.
His kids were like little angels,
his wife had bought him a sweater.
The dog was playful as a pup,
the hog was...hog.
everything was great, until the broken alarm clock woke him up.

The Chosen Vessel

The Master was searching for a vessel to use;
On the shelf there were many - which one would He choose?
"Take me", cried the gold one. "I'm shiny and bright.
I'm of great value and I do things just right.
My beauty and luster will outshine the rest
And for someone like You, Master, gold would be the best!"

The Master passed on with no word at all;
He looked at a silver urn, narrow and tall;
"I'll serve You, dear Master, I'll pour out Your wine
And I'll be at Your table whenever You dine,
My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true,
And my silver will always compliment You."

Unheeding the Master passed on to the brass,
It was widemouthed and shallow, and polished like glass.
"Here! Here!" cried the vessel, "I know I will do.
Place me on Your table for all men to view."

"Look at me", called the goblet of crystal so clear.
"My transparency shows my contents so dear,
Though fragile am I, I will serve You with pride,
And I'm sure I'll be happy in Your house to abide."

The Master came next to a vessel of wood,
Polished and carved, it solidly stood.
"You may use me, dear Master", the wooden bowl said,
"But I'd rather You used me for fruit, not for bread!"

Then the Master looked down and saw a vessel of clay.
Empty and broken it helplessly lay.
No hope had the vessel that the Master might choose,
To cleanse and make whole, to fill and to use.

"Ah! This is the vessel I've been hoping to find,
I will mend and use it and make it all Mine.
I need not the vessel with pride of its self;
Nor the one who is narrow to sit on the shelf;
Nor the one who is bigmouthed and shallow and loud;
Nor one who displays his contents so proud;
Not the one who thinks he can do all things just right;
But this plain earthy vessel filled with My power and might."

Then gently He lifted the vessel of clay.
Mended and cleansed it and filled it that day.
Spoke to it kindly. "There's work you must do,
Just pour out to others as I pour into you."

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

**This Poem reminds me of..
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. (KJV)

I wrote this so please no one steal it. Thanks

People think I'm crazy
People think I'm kind
Inside they don't know
My soul's in a bind

These thoughts and the anger
The hatred and confusion
Oh if how I act
Just wasn't an illusion

I'm crying inside
And on the outside too
I want to feel as I behave
I want to be how I am with you

The headaches, the pain
The falling down
I want to be dancing
For you singing all around

So take these tears Lord
And drown the pain
Help me to discover
my true self not restrain

Do you remember?

Do you remember when we would always get in trouble for passing notes?
That was fun,
Do you remember when I called you up crying because I was scared?
By the way, thanks for that,
Do you remember when you ran out in the fog and Kelly and I claimed your stuff,
That was hillarious,
There are many memories,
Wonderful memories,
Too many to write,
Some were sad,
Some were happy,
Some were funny,
Some wern't,
But I keep them all anyway,
And I think of them all always,
And I treasure them all forever,
Do you remember.....?

This poem is about my best friend. He moved away over 6 months ago. It's just a few memories from when he was still here.
