With the dawning of the new year, an ancient tradition is reborn.

The ballroom is decorated in dark reds and golds. Pae'il mingle wearing exquisite costumes and delicate masks. There is dancing and food.

The small faes that run the HQ skitter about restocking the buffet and pinning up any sagging decorations. A small orchestra of fae provide the music from above the dance floor.

The air is dark and mysterious but bright and fun.

It seems that most of the pae'il have either not heard of the mysteriously letter or have chosen to forget it.

FAQ

1. Costume?
- Yes! Your pae'il can be dressed as whatever you'd have it. If your pae is a Naiad, maybe she'll be wearing a fashionable seaweed gown?

2. What do we do?
- Party, of course. Celebrate a new year with the ones you love.

Bneut looked around, dressed in an odd tux that he had painted on to look decent. He was looking around for Esmee, as he had dressed up and slicked his hair back special for her, meaning to look his best for the masque and for her. Bneut had even taken the time to make a mask to go with the tuxedo he had panted.
A young girl dressed in a flowing purple gown made her way to the floor, she was nervous as this was her first time without her parents or sister next to her to hold her hand. Her hair was pulled into delicate curls with small pearl-esq drops placed seemingly randomly about her entire head. In one hand was her small hand bag, though it had a thin golden strap she held it in her hand as the teen was digging for something. "Darn.. I must have dropped it..." Sari mumbled, returning the purse to her shoulder. She had had her mother help pick out the dress she was wearing, thus the intricate floral design upon it and the pearl-esq drops about the dress as well as her hair.

The Naiad teen shuffled about in his coat. Being of the swimming variety, clothing was rather irksome. However the purple male highly enjoyed the bright red mask he wore. Calder felt incognito, even though he didn't really know anyone in the first place.

(( Debi will be a child for this RP, never mind that she's technically a teen. I need child RPs for her. D: ))

A short red Pae strode purposefully into the room, her black hair pulled back into a pony tail with ringlets, and a leaf and red flower mask settled cutely on her round face. The cute empire waist dress she wore had been adorned with matching flowers, and instead of a bow on the back, there was a small flower arrangement, like a bouquet. She looked like a flower princess!

Her hand was attached to that of a much older Pae, dragging him along behind her. A bemused expression was settled across what features could be seen of the gray Pae. Most of them were hidden behind a mask constructed from carefully dried and arranged kelp and seashells. He wore a more understated outfit, as befitted a Pae who liked to stick to the edges. Let his daughter be the center of attention. That suited Aoaka just fine.

That said, he was dressed in a charcoal gray tuxedo with long coat tails, the details the same dark green as the kelp in his mask. Seashells were his cufflinks, and the amulet that let him leave the water was still around his neck. The mask was the most outlandish part, and one could almost tell that it hadn't been the older of the two that had made it.

"Papa, come on!" Debi said in a loud whisper. She was so excited! This was going to be her first real event, instead of just seeing a Pae every now and again. She loved him to death, but her papa was a hermit. It frustrated the little social butterfly to no ends.

Aoaka released her hand. "Go on ahead, honey. Just stay where we can see each other," he cautioned, and watched her dash into the sparse crowd already gathered.

He himself looked around for one Pae in particular, one that he longed to see, but circumstances seemed determined to prevent them from meeting up.

Pol... are you here? he wondered to himself.

Debi, meanwhile, was looking about excitedly, enjoying the masks people were wearing. She saw one young man, just a little older than herself, with a bright red mask, and she frowned a little. He looked familiar...

Without further contemplation, the young demon Pae headed his way.

"Hey there! You look familiar! Who are you behind that mask, hm?" she asked with a mischievous grin.

Calder turned with a start.

"Who me? Haha, I don't think so," he chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head with his hand. "I don't leave the lake very often and I think I'd remember a pretty little lass like you."

The naiad smiled sheepishly at the child. With lack of socialization came lack of communication skills. He had only himself to blame, though the teen rather liked to blame his adoptive mother and her antisocial ways.

He was trying now and that's all that counted, right?

The fiery-colored Naiad peeked into the room hesitantly, completely out of practice with social situations and wondering not for the last time what in the world she was even doing here. She reached up, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear, her fingers brushing against the water lily she'd made into a hair ornament.

Serafina had found some rather unusual supplies for a water-dweller thanks to her travels. She'd been growing more and more adventurous, venturing further from her home at the lake with each trip, eventually even making it to the HQ on her own a couple of times. She'd been impressed with the wide variety of things she could find here, everything from food to materials, and it seemed as if anything anyone wanted could be found here. On a recent trip, she'd found a beautiful long piece of fabric, it's colors varying through all the blues and greens of the lake's waters and she couldn't resist taking it with her. She only hoped it hadn't belonged to someone at the time, as she didn't consider this until later. News of the masquerade prompted her to try and turn the fabric into a wrap-around gown of sorts, and with a little work, she'd managed to do so. She was quite proud of her work, to be honest. She'd even had a little left over for finishing touches on her mask -- a pair of large clam shells side by side with holes drilled/chipped in each for her eyes. The water lily in her hair was simply a final touch.

Reaching up to finger her pendant nervously, Serafina took a deep breath to steady herself and took her first few awkward steps into the party. Better to throw herself in the middle of things now while there were only a few Pae'il milling about rather than later when things got too busy.

Another celebration. Texas was not particularly enthused about a masquerade--he found them a bit silly in any case--but he donned a mask nonetheless and followed his siblings to the celebration. He walked in and glanced around, sighing when he realized Hyacinthus was nowhere to be seen. Masquerades probably weren't his thing anyway. They were a bit formal and perhaps even a bit staunch. It was nothing like the enjoyment and simple fun his best friend gravitated towards. He strolled over to the nearest chair and sat himself down, preparing himself to be a wallflower while he watched his siblings get themselves into what he already knew would be trouble.

"PUNCH!" As soon as Magnus spotted the buffet and the punch bowl accompanying it, he ran over with a bottle of wine. After looking around sneakily, he clawed his way onto the table and dumped it all in. Then, giggling, the child in a tuxedo set down the bottle and ran away, weaving through the Pae'il already dancing. He eventually made his way back to Texas, hopping up on him and settling in his lap. "Texy!"

Texas rolled his eyes. "I can see right through that innocent act..."

While Magnus vainly attempted to convince Texas otherwise, Esmée parted from the group of brothers to find her Bneut. She came with the purpose of seeing him, and she wasn't about to rest until she found him. The teenager, dressed in a black gown with a slit up the side and a colorful mask reminiscent of Marti Gras, made her way through the crowd, looking for the ever-so-familiar face. If she could find him, coming there would be worthwhile.

Ah! Perhaps he was the man looking around so curiously. Eagerly, Esmée trotted in that direction. When her thoughts were confirmed, she crept up behind him and hoped he wouldn't notice her.

Sigh. Sigh. Siiiiiiigh. Siggghhhhh. There were only so many ways to sigh to express one's displeasure. Criofan was displeased with his situation. No date, no Erylia, no tricks, no games, just a masquerade. Everyone thought he would find delight in dressing himself up to fool others, but quite frankly, he was bored to tears... or perhaps just sighs. He would rather be the one home watching Zuri, instead of Aysu. Boredly, the masked leprechaun glanced over the crowd to try and found someone worth bothering.

Two masked Pae walked into the room together. Both of them wore masks and suits, but it was quite evident who they were to those who'd have met them. The grey male with tri-colored angel wings looked around, then looked up to the yellow colored Fae. "So who is it that you arranged for me?"

The Fae looked around then pointed to a teen Pae with rather interesting wings and tail. "That young lady over there. Her name is Sari; she's expecting to meet you."

The Pae sighed and adjusted the collar of his shirt, appearing rather nervous, then made his way to they unique young maiden pointed out to her. Bowing, he offered his hand to her. "May I ask your hand in a dance?"

The Fae smiled, keeping himself to a distance. He observed them from a distance, watching to see what others were going to do here, and where his two older siblings were.

Raziel frowned, not looking happy at all in his suit; he'd fully refused to wear a mask of any sort.

Pastela, now a teen, hung on his arm in a light creme colored gown that fell off her shoulders. She wore pearls around her neck, a single strand, and her hair was pulled back in an almost elfish style. She smiled brightly, amazed at everything that was going on. It had taken a LOT of begging and pleasing, but she'd finally caved Raziel.

A squeal of excitement burst from the blue angel as she surveyed the sites. "PARTY TIME!" The teen exclaimed, waving her arms in the air. Her miniskirt flounced around as she twisted, giving Kali the look of a ball of energy, a flurry of movement. She darted off into the crowd to mingle and have fun.

A more somber expression came from the suited pale angel teen. Siva peered out through a white feathery mask with trepidation. With a glance back at his "mother" the angel slid along the back wall. He had decided already that watching the crowd from a position near the door would be the best bet if things got too weird.

Quinn held her chin high as she appreciated the decorations and hard work the fae had put in to make the ballroom spectacular. Her high ponytail erupted into a sea of lilac and golden bouncing curls every time the demon moved her head. Pushing out the wrinkles of her slinky golden gown, the adult moved to talk to one of the busy fae.

The teen blushed, turning around to see who had spoken to her forgetting the elegant mask that she had brought along to hide her face. "Err..." Sari looked up at Shale, unsure of who he was. "A-are you the one Seth said would come?" She asked, still blushing slightly. The shetani had dropped the paper that she had his name written on, it was what she was digging through her purse for.
Unable to hear those around him he didn't hear Esmee creep up behind him, and was throughly surprised when he went to turn around and found the gorgeous teen behind him. "E-E-Esmee!" Bneut stammered, wrapping his arms around her rather than reaching a hand towards his chest from the shock. He couldn't have been more ecstatic to see her, but she scared him creeping up like that. "You look amazing!"
The demon wandered down, still wearing his shades as he never took them off anymore. Junior was dressed in a traditional black and white tuxedo, though his face was hidden by the shades already he wore a mask that covered half of his face, taking in account for the half of the sun glasses that he wore. The demon had bothered Bneut to help me figure out how to wear them and not look like a total fool, though he still looked humorous with both shades and a mask on at the same time.

Ducky walked into the room as she looked around for Junior. Dressed up in her usual pink plaid skirt with a white off-shouldered belly shirt, her dark red hair curled but pulled up, allowing cascades of waves around her shoulders. "Junior?" she called out questionably, it was hard to find her beloved amongst the others in this type of masque thing.

Hortense walked into the ball, not far behind Ducky as her dark brown hair was straighened and rested on her most prized possession, her body. With her hair straighented, the young female had a tiara planted on top of her head with ease, rhinestones reflecting light off the beauties. Her gold eyes looked around as she yawned ever so slightly, flexing her pink wings out like an angel.

Shale smiles and removed his mask so he could see better. "I believe so. I'm Shale, and Seth would be my brother. It's wonderful to meet you, Miss Sari." He smiled warmly to her. He felt so much more relieved now that the ice had been broken, though he was still a bit nervous. He felt that he'd been set up on a date, but it seemed that the young girl was quite nice.
